  • 14 months later and multiple missed release dates later, we have a way to stand up a tablet PC that costs $2000-$3000. Does it live up to the hype?
    Is it ok to release a premium computer without the proprietary stand accessory? Tell me what you think in the comments!
    NB: according to the official site this stand isn’t compatible with the Cintiq Pro series

    as much as i love wacom's products, they really need to get their act together when it comes to customer service. I'm hoping other companies like huion become legitimate competitors for them so they improve their own services

    I don't understand why it didn't just come with the tablet. I mean it's a stand, it shouldn't have taken a year to develop

      They learned from game companies how much more money you can milk out of customers with DLCs.....

  • @neilgooge
    @neilgooge 6 років тому +28

    No... Wacom won't be getting any more of my money. Its disgusting a $3000 computer didn't come with a case and stand... Totally unacceptable.
    And that stand is just not worth the money compared to some of the cheaper, far better solutions... Especially given the fact you only get 3, barely different angles.
    Wacom really will need to up their game next time around on the mobile studio line, especially for the 2d market given the quality of the iPad pro and clip studio... I can't see a good argument for the mobile studio pro over a macbook pro and ipad pro linked either...
    Huge regrets on buying the mobile studio pro

    You paid $134 bucks, separately, for a stand, 14 months later, that could have easily fit in the box, with cintiq? That looks like the same stand that came with companion hybrid. Really? Anyways thank for sharing. Cheers.

      I have a Companion stand and an MSP. I don't suggest using the Companion stand for the MSP at all. The MSP will slip off the Companion stand.

    Wacom says the stand isn't compatible with the Cintiq Pro 13/16... despite them also having those groves at the back. Would it have been so complicated for them to engineer a solution where they would only need to produce one kind of stand that works through the entire compact range (13/16 inch)? I don't get it.
    Not to mention that the stand for the Cintiq Pro 13/16 are STILL not available.

    I have not used any wacom cintiq or mobilestudio other than an early cintiq model. From what I've seen on mobilestudio pro, it already has the spot where you attach the stand on to. I feel like they purposely withhold the stand so they can profit from selling it later on when owners are desperate for a proper stand.

    i have to say this stand does make using this tablet much more comfortable, i was stuck to a table before because the stands i used previously were a hassle to get stable on the lap. it doe change the experience for the better since i bought this to get away from my desk. i still don't like the price but i have a feeling wacom builds things to last so yeah i had to eat $100 on top of 3k because i missed the sale.

    Glad my surface pro 3 just came with a built-in variable kickstand .... for free :-)

    But the surface pro is a great form factor.

    Does the display rotate if you flip it upside down. Because the flattest angle upside down looks perfect for watching videos or presenting something.
    It's still pretty expensive for something that honestly should have been included/available from the start.

    I've been using one of those laptop raiser from Ikea that is just mass plastic, the computer was on my desk sitting on that but since it's where the keyboard is supposed to be, I was raising it with a pile of wood and books.... Obviously it is terrible for cooling it. On that same desk, I had also a small easel like yours, only a bit bigger. If only I had realized sooner. Thank you. Now I have a good stand with airflow

    I was really starting to lose it when you decided to hang it by the stand! XD
    Mine never stays snapped on for long, especially while moving it across the table I use if I want to work closer, then it falls apart.
    It's real good when it works! But it's annoying to deal with such a stand that doesn't have a locking mechanism to keep from popping off!

    I emailed Wacom about this and as much as i'm disappointed with the pricing and past circumstances with the stand, i'm even more disappointed with the reply i got.
    "The stand is an accessory and optional to purchase. It is actually not needed to use the device." It actually is if you don't want to strain your back and neck to look at the screen and to use the device as a regular computer/laptop on a desk. Especially for the people out there who already have pains in said areas.
    They also said they'd look into the price difference between the EU and US webshop at February 2nd and that they would contact me with a solution. It is February 17th and i haven't heard anything yet.
    It's like they don't even care that this device is already a huge investment, big enough where you'd expect a stand to be included rather than spend an additional €100 for something that it should've come with in the box.

    • @KanadeChizuru
      @KanadeChizuru 6 років тому

      Whaaaaaaat? That's just a load of pure rubbish coming from Wacom. Professional artists and illustrators use angled surfaces. Architects, draftsmen, CAD specialists and industrial designers all use foldable drawing stands or have their display tablets configured on an incline. Not just for ergonomics and health purposes, but to maintain the proportion of their drawings and avoid distortions caused by working from an improper angle.
      Wacom, a company that supposedly makes "professional" grade technology for creative professionals, fails to acknowledge the very first thing that the professionals they're trying to cater to actually need. Well, the company does have a bad history of such cases, but this one ups the ante to the highest level.

    I placed an order for the FlipSteady for the MSP16´´, more expensive but think it´s (much) better, can have it leaning in portrait and landscape mode. Also possible to buy a strap so one can stand up and draw, "handsfree". 250$ + 25$, (+20$ shipping 2 Sweden). exist for MSP 13'' & 16'', and for some other units.

      Ric Drawings I don't know if it is patented (but I think it is), but every Wacom compliant device (surface, samsung galaxy note, ect) power the stylus through induction. Induction has also the advantage of tracking the stylus without the need of touching the glass.
      Apple and other companies that don't want to pay for a license do their own thing , that is less accurate and needs recharging your Stylus...
