That is actually true. In TF2, whenever you attack with your weapon (regardless if you hit anything or not), that damage is stored in the Crit Bucket (which can store up to 600 damage) and when you get a crit the game checks if you have enough damage stored in the Crit Bucket, If you have enough damage you get the crit but if you cant afford it then no crit happens.
@@ember2933 It's an RNG hammer that rolls from 1-9. If you hit someone with a 1, you basically deal more damage to yourself than to the enemy, but if you roll a 9, its basically a one-hit kill.
Yeah, as someone who used to play a whole lot of overwatch Junkrat was probably my most hated hero. He could just fill chokepoints with high damage spam and slow the game to a crawl. Get in his face and he can use his mines as a high damage get-out-of-jail free card. His ultimate is also practically a free kill if the junk player has even the slightest bit of game sense. The skill floor for junkrat is a lot lower, but I'd argue mastering junkrat at a high level on average is just as difficult, if not harder, because it's so much easier hitting shots in TF2 with grenades and demo also has a sticky launcher or sword. Junk has a trap the mine is good for burst damage but means you can be mobile less often. More than anything movement in overwatch tends to be more unpredictable (discounting trimping and niche TF2 situations), and there are multiple heros that can just stay in the air for long periods of time. I don't think it's rocket science, but I'd say being able to fight back against good pharah players took more practice than hitting scouts or rocket jumping soldiers as demo.
The key difference is the games they're built around. In TF2, clearing sentry nests is a major part of Demo's gameplay. Whereas killing Torbjorn isn't as big a priority for Junkrat.
Demoman has more mobility, easier accessibility to a nuke (eight deployed sticky bombs), decent health and a more flexible playstyle (can be aggressive or defensive). Junkrat sacrifices aerial mobility for invulnerability to his own weapons. He only has access to a nuke (Rip-Tire) after sufficient damage is met but is easier to get it to an enemy group since he has full control of it. Though having more health than Demoman, he seems more fragile when compared to the beefier OW Heros. Junkrat seems to have an easier time escaping dangerous situations due to his kit when compared to Demoman. I wonder how both games will fair if their kits where switched. Demoman would probably be considered OP, not sure for Junkrat since there is so much stuff in that game.

Demoknight or hybrid are good ways to counter this but it does sacrifice the stickybombs. This is also why scout vs demo is very heavily in favor of scout. Junkrats lack of self damage means he’s able to activate his ult and pipes up close with no worry about taking themselves out (this was a buff they gave him). Hi Toofty I really like your videos and I’ve been subscribed since 2019, and never thought to comment. Thanks for everything you’ve done and Hello from New Zealand 😀
That argument is flawed in so many ways. Tf2 has mercs that require aim and mercs that don't require any semblance of skill (demo is hold left click in general direction of enemy) Overwatch has heroes that require aim with no damaging abilities like Tracer and Widow, while also having heroes with no aim requirement. Saying one takes more or less skill than the other is kinda redundant and stupid.
@@cookieelement3467 its not exactly like that. The sticky spam can be useful? Yes. But most of the time if you are face to an enemy you have the disvantage. You need to exactly know when to stickyspam or use your bomb launcher
Then demo would win that easily with his very high sticky damage and sentry nest breaking capabilities. AND he can ONLY be killed by falling off the map
Both have very different playstyle(when they arent spamming😂) and effective range. Demo is very effective at mid range where pipes are relatively easy to hit and have the sticky spamming sweet spot. Junk is a bit more close range due to his self damage immunity, ability to one-shot squishy(light class) with his concussion mine combo at close range, and also because of the abundance of hitscan characters in ow compared to TF2, junkrat is going to lose most of the mid-range duels to other characters.
One thing to consider about Demoman is that his burst damage from a full sticky trap is absolutely going to be more than Junkrat's Overwatch-to-TF2-converted 600 damage per target, and that's worth noting since the stickybomb launcher's meant more to be used that way instead of just for stickyspam. I'd say that a full sticky trap is Demoman's equivalent to Junkrat's ultimate, but it's still easier to make happen than one since all you have to do is shoot all eight stickies into a place the enemy team is likely to push through without being able to see them easily and then wait.
When it comes to mobility, demo either sacrifices hp(for ones that do damage as well as fall damage) or damage(sticky jumper), were as junkrat’s mobility is more limited but does not do self damage. Also the map design in overwatch tends to be less open than the popular maps in tf2.
Yeah Map design and the knockback of sticky means Demo can get back to fight after respawning very quickly, Junkrat however can’t. Even if Junk does so, loosing two of his conc mine is going to reduce his burst damage significantly when hes back in the fight, while Demo could just reload😂
Demoman can on-demand artillery bomb a point with his stickybomb launchers - be it stock or scottish resistance. The scot can synergize with base jumper letting you rain a fuckload of bombs before det on demand, as well as set up some, maybe launching them to sniper points, from behind cover - then only detonating the ones below your feet to yeet you in the air, parachute, and go for the carpet bombing. If we count paladins Jenos outdoes everything whit an ultimate able to hit behind cover,on the other side of the map and ko most characters I'm just kidding he has a powerful ultimate but it's very different from the other characters
Demoman: Has more weapons and therefore more abilities/options, plus knoledge of the mystical world Junkrat: Makes his arsenal out of the trash around him including his Rip Tire which can one shot almost any character, plus he's inmune to radioactive damage and his own explotions Pretty even if you ask me!
One thing, crit pipes or stickies have the same value of a nuke, Kriztkrieg and random crits exist and demo become just the lord of the death of every single multiple game.
You say there isn't an ultimate equivalent in Team Fortress 2, but there are items that gain a huge bonus from consistent damage which charges a meter. You have Soldier's buff banners and Medic's Medi-Guns. There are the few odds and ends like Sniper's Hitman Heatmaker and Scout's Soda Popper.
I think it’s the opposite of the way you said it. The way Demoman just whips grenades over a wall and somehow gets kills with it makes him more of the artillery piece
hang on a secind. 7:00 600x6=3600 300x12=3600 but earlier it was established that tf2 healthpoints are worth more than over watch ones. So the damage comparison should be 600x6/1.6=2250 300x12=3600 So demo has higher burst damage in a normal game custom overwatch games allow for a free for all making 11 opponents possible so 600x11/1.6=4125 HOWEVER we forgot about the dalokohs bar allowing heavies to increase their health to be 350 350x12=4200 (I think games have a 32 player limit meaning 16 players can be on each team meaning the max a demo can do is 350x16=5600) So technically Demo has the highest damage should win even if we include Junkrats Rip tire
Well in the comics, Demoman drank so much he killed the robots that wiped half his team sooooo... yeah I don't think anyone could beat demo after we drank an entire case of scrumpy.
I think an argument that should be brought up with conc mine is that because the only proper weapon for junk is his frag launcher conc mine acts more as a extra bonus rather than a separate weapon, and one thing that should definitely be brought up is his passive total mayhem, the fact that even if he dies he can still deal enough damage to kill most of the cast
When you wanted a high five I also wanted a high five because that was a very funny joke but there was no other hand to five high so I just slapped my own face
Just like Pharah and Soldier it's skill vs safety. Junkrat's bombs don't hurt him and is a guaranteed close range safety during encounters. Something needed when nobody has any good secondary meelee. Demo needs to be much more calculated. His stickies deal him damage and he takes fall damage. But when it comes to mastery then demo takes the cakes. His single stickies in a short time is Junkrat's mines. But together they count as a more effective Riptide. Think about it. - 8 stickies can be planted anywhere at any time of the match - cover as much area as wanted - deals tons of damage - harder to spot and quiet - and can be deployed rather quickly. Riptide takes a lot of time to charge up first and it's main strength is being able to climb everything at high speeds for an ambush. But the sound and large size could shut it down while making Junkrat helpless. Junkrat feels much better to play with as he has less risk and is just spam and good predictable movement. Demoman can be played with a lobotomy but an effective demoman is a constant threat to the entire enemy team and can shut down an entire offense from afar or behind obstacles. And can traverse maps at light speed before anyone notice he's there, even sentries. Just don't loose too much health on the landing or you're a one shot target for anyone with a little burst.
Can anyone think of anything funny to write here so I get lots of likes?

One thing to consider about Demoman is that his burst damage from a full sticky trap is absolutely going to be more than Junkrat's Overwatch-to-TF2-converted 600 damage per target, and that's worth noting since the stickybomb launcher's meant more to be used that way instead of just for stickyspam. I'd say that a full sticky trap is Demoman's equivalent to Junkrat's ultimate, but it's still easier to make happen than one since all you have to do is shoot all eight stickies into a place the enemy team is likely to push through without being able to see them easily and then wait.

Demoman: Has more weapons and therefore more abilities/options, plus knoledge of the mystical world
Junkrat: Makes his arsenal out of the trash around him including his Rip Tire which can one shot almost any character, plus he's inmune to radioactive damage and his own explotions
Pretty even if you ask me!
There are the few odds and ends like Sniper's Hitman Heatmaker and Scout's Soda Popper.
my first reaction is huh how old is this vid then completely suprised its just a day ago
Aye! Me bottle of scrumpe! FREE-
This was a great video idea
I think it’s the opposite of the way you said it.
The way Demoman just whips grenades over a wall and somehow gets kills with it makes him more of the artillery piece
what i love most about demo is the clean and flat 100 damage direct pipes. you can confidently melt through heavies and what not
Demoman: I can rap Drunk!
My bet: Demoman.
I love the way these videos are made!
I have just lost almost all of my brain cells and have regained half of it after the winner was announced.
i love this video thank you toofty for this =D
Spledin screen Persian pusador demoknight: *laughs in 100x*
they would work well together. fourteen stickies plus a bear trap is an instant kill shutout of a chokepoint
hang on a secind. 7:00
600x6=3600
300x12=3600
but earlier it was established that tf2 healthpoints are worth more than over watch ones. So the damage comparison should be
600x6/1.6=2250
300x12=3600
So demo has higher burst damage in a normal game
custom overwatch games allow for a free for all making 11 opponents possible so
600x11/1.6=4125
HOWEVER we forgot about the dalokohs bar allowing heavies to increase their health to be 350
350x12=4200
(I think games have a 32 player limit meaning 16 players can be on each team meaning the max a demo can do is 350x16=5600)
So technically Demo has the highest damage should win even if we include Junkrats Rip tire
Good to see you again Toofty!
Great to have you back Toofty
"Bomb-bee-nomicon
Junkrat’s wheel is demoknight
At 0:43 he mixed up the placements for pyro and soldier compared to the screen in game that you see to choose a class
Did this man just say “Doomoman”?
They say that an eye for an eye leaves the world blind, but Demoman only has one, so i have the advantage.
- TheWhat Show
don’t know what the outcome is yet but I love both
I don't think both games share code, i haven't found the coconut in Overwatch
Well in the comics, Demoman drank so much he killed the robots that wiped half his team sooooo... yeah I don't think anyone could beat demo after we drank an entire case of scrumpy.
I approve 👌
The engineer from Dee Rock Galactic does the most damage!
(DRG's engineer is like demoman)
Junkrat is demoman with medic's personality.
I would really like to see Soldier vs Pharra next
A good reason junkrat would win in a fist fight is he would probably pay road hog to crush him
Junkrat’s Rip-Tire is literally just caberknight tf2
Caberknight tf2
Demoman wins cuz STIKY TRAP + CRIT = ANIGILATION
When you wanted a high five I also wanted a high five because that was a very funny joke but there was no other hand to five high so I just slapped my own face
Now do Demoknight Vs Genji
As someone who mains both junkrat and demoman, neither require skill.
"Demoman takes skill"
didn't know Toofty had a sense of humour
Toof upload is always a good upload
Just like Pharah and Soldier it's skill vs safety.
Junkrat's bombs don't hurt him and is a guaranteed close range safety during encounters. Something needed when nobody has any good secondary meelee.
Demo needs to be much more calculated. His stickies deal him damage and he takes fall damage.
But when it comes to mastery then demo takes the cakes.
His single stickies in a short time is Junkrat's mines. But together they count as a more effective Riptide.
Think about it.
- 8 stickies can be planted anywhere at any time of the match
- cover as much area as wanted
- deals tons of damage
- harder to spot and quiet
- and can be deployed rather quickly.
