The app is really bad. I tried many times to make it connect and it just kept failing. The app sees the water heater by its network name so I know it's talking on the Wi-Fi but then it would just fail. I finally gave up for a while and try it again after enabling Wi-Fi on the device and going upstairs and then it worked for some reason. They definitely need to let you just manually enter the information if you want.
I've had one about a week and it works fine now. I had a problem during install because the input and outport pipes are labeled with just a paper sticker on the top cover. And the stickers were reversed from what the install guide showed. That's pretty poor quality control by rheem.
It may be efficient but it is excessively loud. We have one in our unit and it drives us crazy. We have gotten it replaced and it still sounds extremely loud. It produces a very high pitched noise.
@@gutioe each unit may be different, but there's lots of folks that have gotten bad ones. Mine's really loud. The compressor makes it loud drowning noise, along with kind of a ringing metal sound. There's no way you would install one like this in your kitchen closet like they show in the video.
@@gutioe There is a compressor in there, similar to an A/C. Window A/C's are loud as hell. Maybe this is a bit quieter due to new technology but I don't see why this would be silent.
Way too loud, just put one in last week. They even removed the decibel rating from the newer models. Yeah, I don't see any way you would install this in your kitchen. This thing is 70 decibels a few feet away. It's 60 decibels in the upstairs parts of the house. The compressor makes a ringing noise along with a loud droning sound. Even if the compressor didn't make any noise, I can't see you having this in the kitchen. Just blowing cold air to the inside of the house whenever it's on.
They units with one interior unit make cool in winter and aren't good. The SPLIT UNITS with indoor unit and exterior unit are good water heater heat pumps.
If I hade 1 of these water heaters In my basment that is very well Ventaletated would the noise Still be to noisy plus what and We're in Indiana we're I live Would put it in what type of Price what type of tax credits And what type of monthly savings On gas bill
Many folks have complained that they are too loud. Maybe you'll be lucky and get a quiet one, but most people have not. Mine's downstairs and I can hear the droning noise of the compressor when it's on upstairs. It's not like you can test it out either. You have to plum it up. Fill it full of water. Wire it up to electricity and then find out that it's annoyingly loud.
Consider yourself lucky. If you do some googling. There's lots of folks that have units that are way louder than they thought. They should be. 70 plus decibels and can be heard throughout their house.
Rheem warranties are a farce! DO NOT BUY!!!!!!! Leaks are warrantied for 5 years, but if the part can be replaced, you fall under the one year "parts warranty" and have to buy and replace the part yourself.

Is the condensation corrosive? Can we route it to the sump pump?

Why not use natural gas heater if you have natural gas available? Natural gas heating is 3 times cheaper than heat pump heating.

Not always. If you live in the south it’s good to have the cool air blown in to your garage or living space.
this device looks more like a big, silver information harvesting device.
