Fantastic job Charientocracy! Watching the video really took me back, I'm the "guitar player from around town" mentioned at 4:20. However, at the time I was playing way more banjo, as depicted in the still at 3:20. These guys played super faaaasstt!! Critter & I played twin banjos for most performances on this tour, though sometimes Crit would switch to a snare with brushes as seen in this photo. I think the photo might have been taken in Portland at this pub on Hawthorne called "Biddy McGee's", which we played several nights leading up to Thanksgiving exactly 22 years ago to the day. But I'm not entirely sure, it coulda been lots of places! Your video is the best description of the origins of the band & the subsequent 1998 tour I've ever heard. Toonies were indeed crucial for getting us across Canada! I do have a digital copy of Trans:mission that I can send you if you give me your contact info, but sadly I don't have the original cassette we sold along the way to earn gas money, or any copies of Vegas either. Anyway, thanks for posting!
Thanks, Kevin! It means so much to hear that coming from an original member. I love that era of the band, and I'm happy to know that I captured some of the spirit of it. Thanks for clearing up that you and Critter shared banjo duties. Twin banjos! I think that picture is from a show you all did in Missoula, Montana, sometime around Halloween (in fact, it might have been taken ON Halloween, if I'm remembering that reference correctly). Thanks for sharing about Portland; I knew you'd done some shows at the Cannabis Cafe in Vancouver but I didn't know you were down in Oregon too. Do you have any favorite memories from that tour? My email is boywiththethorn@gmail.com, please feel free to hit me up!
Wow! This video is SO well done! It's like a documentary :) Oh, and I had NO idea how the coin had so much to do with the band's success. Very, very interesting story. I have so much appreciation for the band now. Thank you for sharing.
This was great man, very well done. Where did you find that one segment...Critter has on the beige newspaper boy hat, and Willie a light blue short. I've been looking for that for ages.

Really enjoyable, someone needs to write a biography of this band.
I agree!
Great story! Thanks for making it!
Thanks! I browsed your channel and I like your historical approach to coins and currency

Hey, thanks! Those clips are from "American Roots Music", a PBS special. The sequence with OCMS in total is only about a minute long, sadly.
