Taking a look at the new Jakks Pacific Sega action figures Werewolf (Altered Beast) and Axel (Streets of Rage). Let's compare them to other various action figure scales.
Who wouldn't mix up the different action figure lines? No single action figure line would have every single thing that a person finds entertaining. Making their own adventures in displays and dioramas is part of the fun.
Good toys hard to find thou. Also, I've been hearing reports on the Werewolf's shoulder joints being very stiff they were on mine. So, I loosened them up. And had fun with him and Axel.
I think Altered Beast started with a skinny man, then went through a bulky man and bulkier man then werewolf, then bear, and then dragon. There were at least two colors. Then there were a bunch of bad guys. There were also some nice back grounds in the game that would make nice dioramas and play sets.
Axel, from Streets of Rage, could just be unusually big in the 1/18 scale range of figures. The werewolf from Altered Beast works much better in 1/18 scale.
Axel, from Streets of Rage, could almost represent a kid in 1/12 scale except he is too muscular. It's also too small to accuratly represent an unusually small adult man. The werewolf, from Altered Beast, still works at 1/12 scale because monsters don't always have to be bigger than normal human beings.
At 5 inches these would fit in with the Super Powers action figures by McFarlane Toys, or almost fit in with the Masters of the Universe Origins .5 inch sized figures.
Streets of Rage had other good guys and large numbers of bad guys and thugs. It's too bad it doesn't scale very well with most of the other lines available right now.
@@MacDowin Probably some buyer just assumed it to be 4" as their more famous Fortnite line is? The tracking labels are done by third party Walmart hires. They include RFID to track every item, but for some reason they don't take advantage of them to track stolen merchandise when the tech & data is available to them.
So, what if its bigger than what they claim. I think that's great that it is. They look good. Are they the best? No. But, we hardly ever get sega 90s figures.
As a collector, I would like to think that toy companies would understand the importance scale has. However, I know most children probably won't care and just want a cool toy. Still a shame though.
I've checked 3 Walmarts already and those figures are impossible to find (just seeing pegs of Monkey Ball)! Wish they would just sell these figures online as Walmarts aren't really close to me. That is disappointing Axel isn't scaled correctly, but I still need that one as Streets of Rage is one of my favorite games of all time.

Werewolf at least makes sense to be slightly taller than the standard 1/18th scale and can work.

These are 5" scale that goes w/ their Mario world & Sonic lines, Zelda, & Playmates Turtles.
That may be, but they didn’t advertise them this way. They advertised 1:18th (4”).

Walmart is infamous for much of its bad distributing. Not helping a lot of this Toy companies are terrible distributors to start off with.
Wow. The level of flop in this line? I don’t think I’ve been this disappointed since the Marvel vs Capcom figs.

I hope to God they make some jet set radio figures in this line. I was surprised that these were almost figuarts sized
