Guys it's ok to be nervous! Just learn to appreciate. She's sharing an important facts.
She's nervous, but she shouldn't be, she does great. I bet she practiced.
Bruh.
Shannon Parkhill maybe she didn't practice perfectly?
@@liamgriffin218 😂
I admire her courage to get up and speak. I am sure that she wasn't nervous at all while she was in her element at the piano. It took a tremendous amount of bravery to stand up and do something that wasn't as natural for her.
"when we rethink the way we do ordinary things, our results become extraordinary"
Robert Whitby did you said that quote or did you get it from someone else?
BRAVO! It was clearly something outside of your comfort zone, your voice was a dead giveaway. But you executed the information VERY well and in a clear and concise manner. You should step out and do more of this as it's a great example of what's needed to be EXCELLENT rather than just good enough. It applies to MOST things in life, not just piano performing.
This is one of the best talks I have heard. Short and to the point. The speaker looks genuine and honest.
As someone who is intimidated by practice, I really appreciate how simple this process is. It's really encouraging me to draw more often. Thank you for going up there and talking :)
Thank you Claire! I have taken your advice to heart and strive to practice 3 hours a day 6 days a week and practice sections as you suggest. So valuable for this 63 yo!
Hello Ms. Claire Tueller. Everything you said is true. Perfect practice makes perfect. I wish you all the best.
Claire Tueller, you are amazing. You are a great narrator, concise, coherent and hitting the bull's eye. Told so much for seven minutes.
That round of applause at the end of every 'TEDx Talks' video is a piece of music itself.
I learned at a TEDx in VA (NASA hosted) that "Proper Practice Prevents Poor Performance" which is very similar...good job Claire!
She explained it really beautifully.
Wonderful message. Important content particularly if considered with other talks/articles about effective practice. Thank you Claire and continued success to you.
Just remember to do it 40 hours a day and you'll be great
Or you have a ling ling assurance
Two set😎
Thank you Claire, for sharing this! Something I really needed to get better.
Best TED talk I've ever heard. GOLD Jerry, GOLD!
"Perfect practice becomes perfect " nice words ❤👌
Thank you for this. I'm learning jazz piano and the method you describe for employing repetition is one I'm definitely going to use. The spreadsheet too. Actual things I can do in my next practice session and not just high level stuff. Thanks so much!
This is great!! I really needed this talk.
This is so right, I've been trying to understand this principles for a few yrs and I think Mss just help me to become a master !
Clap clap clap
That was valuable information. Thank you.
Thank you for this I really needed !
Perfect practice makes perfect. Claire shared great visuals and tools that can help me in my everyday life :)
Great video. She is right, you can practice something wrong and therefore learn it wrong.
Well done you are awesome and brave. You did a great job and this information is so Good! Thank you

Love it!
I loved your talk. Great content
She is really good , I have a lot of fun when I listened to her .
Practice is crucial for music, business, and health goals alike!
lovely...truthful and helpful
I want to let you know you made a great speech! You convey the message really well and that's all that matters.
Searched for Ethan Becker to scream at me but found this lovely lady instead. Great talk
She became an inspiration for shy person like me... Who is going to be a teacher and public speaker someday
Good, thank's
Not practice makes perfect but practice makes progress.
I think she meant effective practice makes perfect if what you trying to master is for example doing 100 pushups with ease, not an unrealistic goal
wow
OMG I want one
Wow man. She gave us really important facts as well she managed to finish everything clearly with storming nervous inside what a courage!!!!!!
no offense but she looks nervous
Yeah, she did great just soldiering on, regained her composure. That's the key, don't stop. She has certainly done some singing as a music major, and there are relaxation techniques that will help that nervous, constricted throat. Acting and public speaking classes also teach these techniques. I've forgotten lyrics while singing, but just repeat another line like nothing happened, if you stop, you've lost it, and she never did here, she just took a moment when her voice cracked and overcame the fear. Sometimes people take a little shot of brandy or something to relax their throat before performing, not gonna happen at Brigham Young right? She did great and should be very proud of this and what she shared to help others.
Great message, thank you! But, please, tell us: Which piece is this snippet out of?? :)
👏
To all the keyboard warriors criticising her - she's beautiful, talented, and had the guts to stand up in front of an audience of strangers and do a short lecture on practicing. You, however, are sitting on your iPad with really nothing much to add to anyone's life. Kudos.
She is smart and cute.
How many steps
Perfection is in the mind. Music is about creativity & personal interpretation. This is usually not 1 single correct way to play a song.
"Playing perfectly isn't that hard. It's just playing exactly what's on the sheet... Have you heard a piano played beyond perfection?"
~Amamiya Shūhei
Like si estás por las clases. ; )
As a painter I can definitely say this is true.
Love you baby♥️
Everything she said was totally facts and supposed to be this way to get better at something.
Now that's based
Beautiful women and beautiful spirit
Whoever made that dress owes you an endorsement fee.
I don't think she's nervous at all.
This poor girl sounds like she is about to cry D:
Yes
This also known as “deliberate practice” ala Anders Ericsson
Yiaa neden türkçe alt yazi yok. Üzdü 😿
So spend time practicing while trying to get it right. Just saved you 7 minutes and 49 seconds. You're welcome.
So proud of you !!!
love this, but it's hard to actually focus on what she's saying! she sounds so so nervous!
How do you practice or repeat a task without errors, when you are practising a task that you are not competent at? Doesn't make sense at all I'm afraid....
Minimise the difficulty of your practice. Slower, cleaner and with less effort. Once you master something basic, add a tiny bit of dificulty. Master that then rinse and repeat. The book "Talent Code" looked at some of the best performers in the world and found that the best school focused on perfection. In a famed tennis school they spent over a week just doing footwork and how to swing. They didn't hit a ball for weeks. Hope you are well and are striving to learn. Cheers
@@app369 well the thing is, unless the practice is very difficult, you will not learn or grow.If you are doing something that is easy enough to not make errors, then it is not practice, just mindless repetition. As soon as the difficulty is raised enough to actually activate the brain, mistakes become inevitable.
I really do not believe there is any proven mode of practice that allows anybody to make good progress. I firmly believe innate ability is a huge factor, and that the best way of practising can only be discovered experimentally for each individual.
this is trying to be used as an assoication of the words perfect and red
Breath just breath
if anything else it was also a brunette woman in the picture
Who is nervous?
It’s really good what she said.. but her voice keeps cracking and it’s hard to sit and listen...
she needs perfect practice to be perfect in eliminating stage fright.
Okay. Gonna say it. She spent 7 minutes saying nothing.
She is so nervous hhhhh
Love her perma cracked voice. One step closer to masculinity. yay culture of vocal fry. Why would anyone present their clear female voice?
utter rubbish both practically and psychologically; virtually every great international soloist when interviewed says something totally different.
she should practice public speaking next
