    Be interested in a overview of the install? I didn't realise that Clayton had a B2B that makes it a very interesting proposition compared to the Bluetti, Ecoflows which are stifled by the 12v charging. Nice video thanks for making the effort 🎯

    Hey dude, really appreciate your contribution! This has been so helpful and I wish I had discovered the LPS2 before buying a Bluetti 200Max. How much solar have you got in watts? The one thing I worry about with the LPS2 is that 400W solar is a little low as input and the 50V upper bound is not very high either. Thanks :)

    • @ahoyleisure
      @ahoyleisure  Рік тому

      Easy Dominic,
      So I get this a lot but... however...😅 I’ve got 400W (4x100) I use a mix of parallel and series to reduce the volts and the happy accident is that it reduces the solar shadow issue which is helpful too (series suffer with part shade stopping charge). More importantly for me was DCDC. It’s a huge energy source the engine and that’s where I want to utilise charge. I get get 1100w from my DCDC. The solar is just there is a top up really.
      Sorry Hope that didn’t sound like I was dodging the question - the short answer is utilise parallel or part parallel and drop the voltage and benefit from charging better in part shade as a bonus.

      @@ahoyleisure Thanks a lot for the detailed response, much appreciated. The DC/DC option is indeed very good. An alright workaround for that part is to use a 110V inverter with a 110V Bluetti wall charger, which will also allow 500W of charging from the alternator (using 110V devices as 230V is just more inefficient). If needed it's also possible to use the solar input for an additional charger from the alternator -- just use a relay to change from solar charging to alternator charging with ignition. This way alternator charging can be increased to 1000W total for a Bluetti AC200Max. Since I already have the Bluetti, I will have to stick with it for now. The remaining real advantage of the LPS2 is its remarkably low standby consumption of

      @@dominicespengler It would be good to pick your brains really. One of the other issues I hear is that Bluetti and Ecoflow don’t do well with concurrent charge and discharge. Ie in the rory you could charge with mains, solar and alternator with an LPS. and discharge with 230 and 12v. Not that it would make sense to do so. 😂
      The other small advantage is the jumpstart. I’ve recently tested it and it’s brilliant.

    • @dominicespengler
      @dominicespengler Рік тому +1

      @@ahoyleisure Happy to carry on discussing. The Bluetti AC200Max has no issue with pass through charging in my experience (I don't have experience with Ecoflow). Regarding the jumpstart function, this is a nice feature. Although the way I understand it is that it will simply charge the starter battery for a while (like 10 mins at a decent amperage), correct? The way it is described online, it doesn't literally jump start from the LPS2 if the starter battery is completely drained. One way of achieving the same thing for 30 quid is to buy a 12V charger and use this to connect the Bluetti to your starter battery to charge it. It won't charge as fast (about 8ah with my charger from Lidl for example), but it works. Otherwise you'd get a litium-ion starter battery pack for about 80 quid online, which will offer immediate jump starting capabilities. The reason I am mentioning this is that this video seeks to compare the LPS2 with the Bluetti. Adding to this comparison, the Bluetti also has some advantages over the LPS 2: 1. 900W solar input with up to 145V. 2. USB-C outlet with 100W, 2x15W wireless charging, several USB-A fast-charging ports. 3. It has an App. 4. Significantly cheaper than the 3000W model of the LPS2, so you can buy a top quality inverter and jump start battery pack and still be about a grand below the LPS2 in price. 5. It can be extended by up to 6kWh (adding up to 8kWh total), which makes it more versatile. So for the same price you'd be able to have double the capacity. Still the

      @ahoyleisure  Рік тому

      Yeah I agree with your points buddy.
      Jumpstart is passing currant but all those leads are nice big chunky 16mm wire all ready. It’s nice built in feature but your right there are other thanks you can add to get you there.
      We are offering a huge discount so the price drops by 20% anyway which levels it out.
      The biggest thing is reliability and build quality. The LPS 1 and now the LPS 2 have been in contract vehicles for a long time now so are tried and tested at high numbers in very rugged and heavy use commercial conditions. Time will tell really.
      Dude great debate and huge respect Dominic. It’s great that the all-in-one campervan electric options are getting better and better. We can agree on that 😅🤙

    Question, could I connect a 100Ah Lithium battery to the Clayton unit on its DC input side to increase the Clayton capacity? The Lithium battery would be charged via a B2B from the Starter battery. If the Clayton is being supplied from the starter battery, then it should not matter where the Clayton gets its 12v supply from. So the idea I proposed it should be feasible.
