Episode 01 - Exploring Sanatana Dharma | Faith or A way of Life ? Why Dharma ? What is in it for me?

We identify ourselves as Hindus or Sanatanis, but do we truly grasp its essence? Are we aligned with its core principles? Wait - what are its principles? Is it relevant now?
We are thrilled to present Episode One of what promises to be a long, insightful and engaging Series on Sanatana Dharma. We will explore what Sanatana Dharma truly is - and what it is not. Young scholars will address fundamental questions to help build a strong foundation of understanding. A string of pressing questions will be progressively answered. Feel free to share your questions in the comments; we’ll address them in upcoming episodes!
Highlights of Episode 01:
Necessity of God and Religion in these times:
Our ancestors and Rishis had understood and documented facts which science did only centuries later. The current times offers a great opportunity to use technology and tools to educate ourselves better,realize the greatness of our civilization so that science and Shastraa can go hand in hand.
Shift in attitude of youngsters:
Combination of Ego and unbridled Desire has become a bane currently. Our tradition had recognized the need for fulfilling desire through Artha and Kama but within the boundaries of Dharma. Our Shastras have never prohibited happiness but has always insisted on Dharma as a framework. For a society to live harmoniously, Dharma is very essential.
Right to question:
Sanatana Dharma has always encouraged the right for a seeker to question, evidenced in the famous Bhagavad Geeta among many other texts. But the attitude to learn with curiosity is key in any question.
Role of faith in religion:
Just like how we don't doubt the doctor's ability to prescribe the right medication, we only need to walk in the foot steps of the Mahatmas with faith. There could be a few who want to educate themselves before believing or applying it completely. While it is welcome, it is not easy to master the Shastras before we start developing a faith in them.
