I don't know how to adequately thank you, Cat, for your MMM series! I've made mine on index cards, written the instructions on the back, punched a hole in the corner and held together with a ring clip. My friends think I'm brilliantly talented, but I know it's all your doing. Thank you!

Cat, in 2010 just after moving up here to NC, I lost my husband on 6/1 and on 6/10 my 27 yr old son died. I didn't know anyone, was on 850 acres alone....soon to be caretaker.....and in all of this my creativity escaped me. No matter how I tried, what I did....I couldn't create anything. Prior to my move for a few years, I created my own folk art and now my pieces are all over the world and hundreds upon hundreds here in the US....it all left me and I was beyond devastated. Watching your videos has really inspired my creativity to return, slowly but surely. It's a new medium for me, but you have stirred me. I thank you!!!! thank you !!!!

It was fun to revisit all those pages. They make such a cool little journal. I can't believe you cut that little bicycle out of a piece of washi tape!! Very cute! =)

Loved seeing them all together like that! I know I watched you make them more than once in most cases, but I was concentrating on making them. This time I got to enjoy them, I think I will take mine out and enjoy it instead of working on it once or twice!

Thanks for the flip...you have really helped me come to grips with mixed media...mostly in sharing your attitude of "have fun and do it your own way"...(I think I was looking for a rule book)...and having the little reference album bursting with yummy inspiration really makes it easy to use the different techniques whatever project I am working on, so, many thanks, Cat, for the guidance. Cat you will need to make volume 2, 3 etc. I really hope you keep doing these they have gotten me creating. I loved the look through. I am also keeping notes on how I made everything. So that when I want to create it again I know how. Thank you so much!!!!

I love your artwork! Have been watching your videos and want to make a book for myself. I love color and your doodles add a lot. I have a question; where do you purchase the paper that fits inside? Or did you trim regular notebook paper? Thank you so much for sharing such wonderful art with us. :)
Thank you very much! The paper I'm using is from one of those tiny mini composition books. I glued 2 and sometimes 3 pages together to make them sturdier. My book started out whole, but began to fall apart as I worked in it, so I took out all the pages and made a little binder for them. (see morsel #12)
I found Mixed Media Morsels link on the FJJP Facebook page this morning. I have already watched your first three MMMorsels. I am thinking it might work to do these on index cards so I can print the info on the back the I can bind them with rings or something.

I love your Mixed Media Morsels. I have only done #1 so far. I didnt know anything about Mixed Media till one of your videos popped up on my recommended list. Now i cant get enough. I do have a question. i want to make a Mixed Media notebook similar to yours just the style. Are you using the paper that comes out of those little notebooks? If so are you gluing a bunch of them together to make the paper thicker? Could I use cardstock and cut it down to the size of the little notebook paper? Would I still have to glue the card stock together to make it thicker? Sorry for all the questions
Hi Jennifer - I'm so glad you found my video series and are enjoying the morsels. :) Yes, I am using the paper from the mini composition book and I glued 2 or 3 pages together before I started. But you can definitely make pages out of whatever you like - cardstock would be great, and you probably would not need to glue pieces together. It should work just fine as is, especially if you do what I have done on a lot of my pages, which is gluing a piece of painted paper on the page for the background. That helps to make the pages sturdier, too. Happy creating! :)

Hi Cat! Did you mention a Matte Medium that can be used to go over things you have printed off from computer? So you can keep it from smearing? It seems like it was a Liquitex product.

Cathy & Mike Quimby Quimby The liquid one will probably smear something printed from an inkjet printer. The gel is thicker, so there’s not as much liquid content to make the ink run…
How do you stop the pages sticking together?
Hi Tracey - I use a thin coat of Matte Mod Podge or Matte Collage Pauge and I don't really have a problem with my pages sticking together. On the rare occasion that one does seem sticky, I will use a bit of Daddy Van's Beeswax furniture polish on the page and that helps. 😊
