    Hey everyone! We really appreciate all the feedback and activity on our video! We would like to take the time to explain that this was our first tesla model 3 full back window tint that we had ever done. We understand that some procedures we could have done better and since then we have invested in new tools and protection procedures (with the help of our avid tesla audience!). We also want to clarify that no damage was done to this car whether it be scratches or water damage. Thank you all for watching and subscribe for more content on a variety of our services! - Ztech Of Countryside

      This is my problem with 3m window films
      Fx premium : turns purple in one year
      Hp : metallized film and turns purple in 2 years
      Color stable : it's purple already and
      Crystalline : nothing matches , 20 is blue/brown reflective and does not match with 40 , 40 does not match with 50 and ...... you know the rest.

    • @ztechwindowtint
      @ztechwindowtint  5 років тому

      We only use FX HP, CS, CR and the new film CIR. We have been an authorized 3M dealer for many years and have never once had a FX HP tint turn purple or had a CS film that was already purple! Not sure where you are located or where you get your film from but I would look into that. I do understand your grievance with CR, as the films are specifically unique and differ from each other in appearance. To most it is a small sacrifice when you are getting an incredibly heat rejecting film. The new film CIR film is a ceramic infrared blocking film currently only sold at beta stores likes us that have been hand picked by 3M. CIR is much better with color matching and will be unveiled for all dealers in November!

      I just stopped using 3M , there are way better films , Wincos is very good , Formula One , Llumar , and many more , I have customers coming back with purple windows , hazed windows and the worst , bubbled windows
      And trust me , I'm not one of those guys that talks crap just to mess with someone .
      I builded my business thinking that 3M was the best , I'm switching little by little to other companies.
      And the worst thing , 3M would let other shops to open across streets from your shop, soon we will find 3M films on pep boys or auto zone.

    • @ztechwindowtint

      Interesting. There are a few 3M dealers around here in Chicago, but 3M has a very good reputation out here and people know it will not turn purple and will stand the test of time. Climate perhaps has an impact on your films, but do some research on forums and you will see collectively from the tinting community that 3M is in the top tier. We used to be a Llumar dealer years ago but when the opportunity came to switch to 3M it was a no brainer. We genuinely stand by the quality of this brand!

    Seems like a lot of people are unfamiliar with the tinting process, looks like you did a fine job. Covering everything up is OK, but increases risk of contamination especially on such a new car. I'm sure the car survived and the customer is happy. 👍

    Doesn't the heat gun on part of the paint surface hurt the paint? Also curious about the liquid dripping on the interior of the car. Is this normal practice during all installs? I ask because I'm looking to get 3M Crystalline also on my Tesla P3D+.

    • @ztechwindowtint
      @ztechwindowtint  6 років тому +1

      The heat gun being near the surface of the paint wouldn't hurt it in any way. We also keep the gun in constant motion to keep from overheating one area of the film while shrinking as well as ever getting paint or trim pieces too hot in one place. To answer the second question yes it is common practice to have to put in the film that way. we can take extra precautions for your vehicle depending on what you have technology wise near the back glass to ensure its as dry as possible. we also use only water and baby shampoo to install our products, this guarantees our solution would never damage any of the interior in any way, its much too mild to ever do so. hope this helps!

    Does it start to melt at ends? If so how close should u cut? How hot is ur heatgun? Struggled w one of these today it fr took me 60 mins to shrink it lol. this is def the way to do it.

    • @ztechwindowtint
      @ztechwindowtint  5 років тому

      The film can start to melt on the ends if you are not keeping your heatgun moving constantly, i.e. do not let it sit in one spot for too long. We use standard heat guns nothing too fancy and just put it on the highest heat setting. A few spots where you need to trim it shorter shouldn't be an issue, but if it is a problem around the entire window while you are learning give yourself some extra room to trim again if needed. This back window for sure takes some time to shrink as it is a massive piece of film! Be aware the way we are shrinking this film is specific to this film only! Most other films you should shrink the traditional way unless it has a specific shrinking process like this one. Thanks for watching!

    • @ztechwindowtint
      @ztechwindowtint  6 років тому +3

      Every window has its own curvature to it, the film has to be placed on the outside first to get shrunk to that unique curvature so it fits properly on the inside once ready

      its recommended to tint the sunroof above you the same shade as you tint the full back window. That keeps a uniform look in the car when you look up or the back window would appear much darker than the sunroof.

    3M Color Stable (CS) has adhesive failure and bubbles up on the rear windshield after about 8 years here in Texas. I get them in my shop all the time and you can still find the 3M logo on the film.

    • @ztechwindowtint
      @ztechwindowtint  6 років тому +1

      In this video we used the Crystalline (CR) series from 3M, which is their highest quality line. We have been in business for 45 years here in the chicagoland area and during the entire time we have carried 3M, we have never had that issue with Color Stable (CS). My guess is the much hotter climate that you have in Texas has something to do with the glue breakdown, as the Color Stable (CS) is designed to absorb heat. The watermarks of small 3M logos on the film are for authentication purposes to know it is truly 3M products, and can easily be removed with isopropyl alcohol.

      The 3M Crystalline film we are installing is unlike most common films - its thick and doesn't shrink like a typical film. Heating under the film is the best way for us to shrink it because it "traps" the heat underneath and makes it easier when we apply heat to the top.

We special order this size film roll as most cars do not require a roll that large. There is a small $30 cut fee from our distributor that we do pass to the customer as well. All side windows installed is $399.99 as well. Our shop runs by appointment and would need a call a few days in advance to order the requested film and shades for the customer.

      @ztechwindowtint  5 років тому

      Although I do understand what you are saying about double shrinking the edges, Crystalline is a very unique film and the way it needs to be shrunk is different than most. Its not ideal to double shrink any part of the film because you can get a permanent orange peel effect in the film.

      Nice! Our installer shrinks the film very well and never has problem with the fingers inside - he only cards to get the edges and the window "gaskets" as dry as possible. We have also seen customers come from other shops where they tried to install crystalline and over heated the film by trying to double shrink, and it left "ghosting" damage all over the film. I know some of our guys double shrink the side windows for the same reason you are speaking of, but every installer has their own methods. Glad to see your method works for you because this back window is challenging!

      Water is used to apply window tint and always has been. The amount is always minimal and we always thoroughly wipe up any overspray or drips after installs . The exterior was perfectly fine. Heat gun cord kept over the shoulder and the installer doesn't wear a belt. The most that could be done would have been his cotton shirt touching the car or some warm air on the pillar which is completely normal on a hot day. The customer absolutely loved the finished product, and I'm sure you would too!

We checked out the video you mentioned and did some of their procedures the same, however by doing a video on the back window only you couldnt see(i.e covering door panels, squeegeeing side to side, and computer cutting the side windows). We have a video coming out soon on a Bentley Bentayga showing those procedures. The reason we hand cut the back window was due to our cut program only having the design for a partial back window at the time. We just ordered the rope and drape for the side of the car. We are passionate about tinting and customer service and are always open to customer concerns to better their experience.

      Not sure how familiar you are with window tinting but everything done was standard protocol for installs. During the part of the video you are referring to that you think he is heating up the paint, he is actually heating under the film. The air from the gun is being pointed under the film not on the paint. This unique high end film requires you to heat from the underside to help shrink the "fingers". • @ztechwindowtint
      @ztechwindowtint  5 років тому

      How so? The vehicle was not damaged in any way by installing the film. 3M Crystalline blocks up to 97% of infrared rays and 99.9% of UV rays, which are harmful rays that can damage the interior by fading or discoloring it. This special tint is non-metallized which prohibits any interference with signals/technology in the vehicle. Another honorable mention is by keeping the heat out of the vehicle, the cars sophisticated battery system is able to work less cooling the vehicle with air conditioning by keeping the internal temperature much cooler. In theory, this film is actually protecting the car, allowing it to function optimally, and extending its life.
