  • This is not a professional review. Just me playing around on my new guitar.
    A general time line of whats going on.....
    3:10 i start off with an open G
    4:10 an open chord song
    4:49 i play an A minor (my favorite chord)
    5:05 i play some finger picking in the key of A minor
    5:59 i play a loud chord, that might startle your ears
    6:20 i attempt to play some generic power chords
    7:14 i show off the guitars intonation
    7:54 i accidentally figure out a Green Day song by playing random power chords
    8:50 i try and play some generic jazzy type chords
    12:19 Capo on 3rd fret, strumming some open chords
    13:10 i play the exact same open chords, but this time finger picked
    14:09 I play an A minor again, with capo on 3rd fret
    15:20 i move the capo to the 2nd fret and play generic chords
    16:20 I remove the capo....Play a little bit of Mouth Full Of Cavities
    17:29 i doodle around on some chords that remind me of St. Andrew's Fall
    17:55 i ponder if this is a good guitar for the price, and give my impressions
    19:35 i end with a Mother Love Bone song

    If you have any topics you'd like to see covered, leave a comment. I like making review videos on pretty much anything. It could be a concept, idea, something going on in the news, or even a tech product.
    Now the good news is that since i’m a very small channel, i wont be making too many Tech Reviews, because for the most part, giant multi million dollar companies usually don’t send products out for review to channels that have under 100 subscribers.
    Now why is this good? Well i can focus on making more abstract and interesting videos, based on whatever i find fascinating about the world we live in. Let me tell ya, we live on a very wild and dynamic planet, so there will always be plenty to talk about. ==========================

    I absolutely loved this review . You could not be any more laid back and be awake but it kept my interest . Nice playing ! I bought one of these and I`m really impressed with it A great all around guitar that can hold it`s own when playing alongside a Gibson or Martin (not saying it is as good as a D28 or whatever just that it can get in the mix nicely) Great job ! Thanks

    • @1ReviewADay
      @1ReviewADay  4 роки тому +2

      Saying I'm so laid back I'm almost in a self induced coma, is very accurate. I once tried looking energetic and up tempo in a video, but it looked like i was having a mental break down. I can tell you one thing for sure. I would make the worst Starbucks employee.
      My personality is definitely not bubbly. But I'm glad it still kept your interest.
      I agree it's a great guitar for the price. And I think it's voiced in a way that's supposed to sound very good in a band or group situation.
      I actually did another review of it beside my older Yamaha guitar, and most people preferred my older Yamaha, but I think that one is more of a solo guitar, and I think the LL6 would shine much better in a band situation.

    I have one of these and love it. Its become my main workhorse acoustic. I have to admit that the string spacing took some getting used to. My other acoustics are a 60s Gibson Southern Jumbo and a Taylor academy 12. The strings on this feel significantly spaced further apart. I found the tone on these to be surprisingly bright, not in a bad way, I was just expecting less clarity and more boom. These are very articulate.

    Thank you! At last a reviewer tells us what picks he is using; well done. I own both the LL6ARE and LL16ARE. Excellent guitars both.

    • @1ReviewADay
      @1ReviewADay  5 років тому

      Oh im super picky with picks. What pick I use depends on the guage of the strings, how bright the guitar sounds, and how heavy the bracing is.
      So on that topic. When I tried both the LL6 at the store and the LL16, the bracing on the LL16 seemed a little stiffer.
      I have an older red label Yamaha, and the bracing on that guitar is super stiff, and I wanted an easier all around guitar to play.
      My question to you is, do you notice any difference in bracing between the 2 guitars? Because I think they might both be listed as having the same bracing, but for whatever reason the all solid wood version seemed a little heavier braced.
      One thing I didn't think of at the store is maybe it had heavier guaged strings.

    I have a LL6 and it sounds beautiful. Rich sound, smooth playability and it has a lot of bass in my opinion as its body seems like a jumbo one but smaller. Also, it has the ARE systems which means that the woods have been treated to looks like a 10 years old guitar. Also, Yamaha is guaranteed of quality. One last thing, I use Daddario strings on it. Cheers!

    I actually just recently found this out about using different picks. And I've been playing for 30 years. I've been buying the same picks since I first started playing. I never experimented with other picks because I liked what I was using. My neice bought me some picks for Christmas and they were different picks. I never knew my guitar would sound different. Now I have a bunch of different gauge picks. 😆

      The LL6 and LL16 are both great guitars. I changed the saddle to TUSQ also, but I think the original one sounds better, but I use the TUSQ one cause I shaved it down to have better action. I have a feeling the TUSQ probably sounds better on the LL16.

    That is the most original and entertaining review I ever watched. You even made me write a comment, my first one! The guitar is very nice though I think you don't give too much credit to the tone you bring about in it. I own a LL16 and never thought about the cracks and humidity issue. Oh geez, one more thing to worry about now. Hopefully this is not such an issue down here in Brazil but I'm gonna find that out. Thanks.

      I was using the original set it came with, which are elixir 80/20 12-53.
      I recently changed them to the phospher bronze version, and i think i like the 80/20 more on this guitar. I can see why they chose those as the original strings.

      Hi, I am back :). I have been playing my LL16 with a Planet Waves O-Port and I think I notice an improvement on the bottom range (ua-cam.com/video/L6go75XOMhs/v-deo.html). I am inclined to say that I hear it a bit more balanced now. Have you ever tried one of those rings?

      @andrenaime 4 роки тому

      I tried the O-Port on the LL 16 before with a set of elixir 80-20 and did not like it. Now with a set of elixir PB I hear some nice difference. Weird, eh (maybe it is just my ears...)?

    • @1ReviewADay
      @1ReviewADay  2 роки тому +1

      The LL16 is a very nice solid wood guitar. When I originally bought the LL6 there was only a 200 dollar price difference between it and the LL16. I think the price is higher now. It's definitely worth it, the guitar is great.
      I like the Gibson j 45 as well, but for the price I think the LL16 is hard to beat, at least it definitely was during the time I bought the lower end LL6. They might have gone up in price quite a lot since then I'm not sure, but it's a great guitar.

      The brown one looks very nice. As far as cutaways go. I used to have a pretty nice larrivee one. I'd look into those, but they are quite expensive. I actually ended up selling mine cause it was all solid wood and required constant humidifying in the cold dry Canadian winter.

      It really all depends how much you want to spend. I've played them both. LL16 is all solid wood, and will have more value in 10, 20 years. For your first guitar, or as someone who's beginning, I think the LL6 is MORE than enough to get you going.

    i have a chance right now to get one used for 250 maybe 200.in mint condition.its made in china.should i grab it? and im not sure if it is the ARE VERSION? are all of the ll6 ARE MODELS?

    • @1ReviewADay
      @1ReviewADay  5 років тому

      The older ones are not ARE, but I've also heard people playing both and not noticing much of a difference, so I'm not sure how much it matters. I'd have to try both myself and see what I think.
      I think even if it's not ARE, it's a great guitar, especially used for a cheaper price. I'd go for it.

    By paying $200 extra, you could’ve gotten all solid wood guitar: LL 16 ARE

    • @1ReviewADay
      @1ReviewADay  5 років тому +4

      I tried them both at the store. For the sound, and durability, the LL6 was perfect. It's a laminate guitar that doesn't sound like a laminate guitar, and is way more durable to take with you camping or traveling.
      I had an expensive Solid wood guitar that I would always be trying to keep humidified, and make sure the wood is not too dry, so it doesn't crack.
      And guess what, the LL6 sounds better than the almost 2000 dollar solid wood acoustic I had.
      I'm very happy with it. Although I did try the LL16 and it sounded nice also, and I even thought about it, but I kept going back to the LL6, I couldn't believe how nice it sounded for a laminate guitar.
      And I really like the durability and zero care laminate guitars need.

    hello! i just got YAMAHA LL6ARE. You play really good! especially last one is good!. Mother Love Bone song? I think you changed some chords right? I wonder that chords...
    hope oneday i will play like you.. can you tell me that song's chords? just part of when you played..anyway Thanx you! :)

    • @1ReviewADay
      @1ReviewADay  4 роки тому

      I might have changed some chords in the mother Love Bone song. I'm not sure. I just sort of figure them out by ear, and they're usually not exact. Or sometimes I purposely change it how i like playing it. The song the way I play it I think is just Am, G, F, and back to Am, then the second time around you ad a quick C and G chord after the F.
      It's a nice guitar, enjoy yours!
