  • Every winter Laysan albatrosses arrive at the North Shore of Kaua'i to mate. Even though they are paired for life, they perform a courtship dance often before and during the nesting period. This clip was filmed in a residential neighborhood in Princeville.

Just read an NPR article about how the albatross is the only known animal that has a 0% divorce rate. Once these gorgeous birds find a mate, they stick together until the end!

@s Hate to be all AcKsHuAlLY but I'mma do it anyway. The oldest known wild bird on earth is a Laysan albatross named Wisdom, she's almost 70. A few other bird species do have near-zero divorce rates as well, I specifically see Bewick's swans and Australian ravens mentioned in a study. The ravens have an average life span around 20 years and the swans around 10. And sure, some whales and dolphins can have longer life spans as you mentioned, but they don't mate for life.
Albatrosses are beautiful and amazing and special and how dare you question that THEY ARE PERFECT.

I love the music, adding our own human sense of the romantic. I watch the current nestling in Kauai via Cornell Lab cams and all the other birds' songs are exactly what we hear all day as I keep one window open for it. One of nature's greatest delights in my rarely humble opinion... Thank you!

How about posting a version without the guitar music... It's distracting and so not necessary

I loved hearing the nature sounds, the bird's awesome bill clapping and so much more. I posted just after a big thank you for the video.. Should have done it in the same post but we all act too fast from time to time

Most people seem to love the music. I liked it as well, made it even more romantic and you can still hear the clapping and singing. Sometimes it makes more sense to write "I personally found it distracting and so not necessary". The way you wrote it sounds like you are trying to speak for everyone.

phangirlable- I agree! I usually don't like most background music but this was SO low key and soft. It was the perfect choice for this video no question, it gave the perfect sound stimulation while having your eyes stimulated with the visuals for equal beauty!
I wasn't even going to watch it all but I got so caught up in it that it was over before I knew it!
And if there are a few people that don't like it, turn down the volume. Its a very quick fix!
