We were both up for the night out👍👍 I do definitely like the look of that Tiger 1200. Just be way more practical than my MT10, much as I love that bike. Just today Carol and I did 200 miles into North Wales and back. I had to stop 3 times to fill up! Carol's bike with the same 17L tank could just about do the whole journey on one tank. Richard, the 30th of April I am testing the new MT-07 and MT-10. It's Yamaha test day at my dealer MTS Verlinden in Londerzeel België. A month ago I did a long test drive of the new Kawasaki Z650RS of course the green one. Nice to drive and good torque. This was at the Triumph / Kawasaki dealer Motors Thomas G in Stabroek north of Antwerpen where I bought the Trident 660. I was there just by chance driving to the dealer because I needed to be somewhere close by, you need some luck for doing test drives. I was on the bike of course otherwise I would be there without gear.
I have my name down to test the new MT10 and the Tiger 1200. I'm also waiting to hear from BSA about a test ride. Certainly for the Tiger 1200 I would like a long test ride. I'm increasingly finding the lack of range and heavy fuel consumption annoying with the MT10. Not sure the new one is much better. Had to fill up 3 times on today's ride into North Wales and back.
@@Banditmanuk My FZ1 Fazer uses 6,5L/100KM, the Trident 660 around 5L and the 125 uses 2,7L. The old FZR 1000 is between 8 and 10L. So now I am driving mostly the Trident, did a 700km trip in 2 days to the Nurburgring and the Eifel mountains on it and no problem.
The Thruxton R is more comfortable than it looks especially with a decent seat. I mean a 200 mile day is about my limit for this 68 year old body, but in town it can be painful. Thanks for taking us with you guys the staff is starting recognize you. I just Dick's video on his 1901 Triumph.
I'm not sure this 58 year old 6ft 3 overweight body could go 200 miles on the Thruxton. Undeniably a beautiful bike and we know from your vids that it can go quickly! Dick Shepherd isn't really Triumph staff, more of a benefactor and total Triumph enthusiast. Many of the bikes in the Triumph museum are long term loaned by him. He's a fascinating walking encyclopaedia on all things Triumph from 1901 onwards.
@@Banditmanuk The trick on sportier bikes is to ride interesting roads and keep the speed to at least 60 mph. Around town and slow the wrists hurt a little to be fair. I'm sure some of the Triumph recognize you two. I thought I heard Dick say he saw your video when he was showing you around.👍👍
Spent half the night looking for you (even though I don't know what you look like 🤣) Was a good night. Catch up with you at some point. Cheers and take care

Well done guys! Another cracking video, how I would love to chat with Mr Shepherd he looks like a very cool man. Triumph 1200 looks like it could be yours! Book a test ride! Take care! 🏍 💨💨
Yes like the look of the Tiger 1200 😍 Dick Shepherd is a top guy. An absolute enthusiast and Triumph are lucky to have such a generous benefactor to the museum. Thanks again for watching. Cheers and take care.
@@Banditmanuk I know you are a TT fan, will you make it over this year? I will be there for race week. Love to have a beer with you if you make it over! Murt
@@the_mad_leprechaun we are massive TT fans. Been over twice for the main TT and done the classic. Sadly this year we've booked up every single day of our holiday allowance. Are you taking your bike over? There is something special about riding the course when they are not racing. Always got up at dawn to get a lap in (when the mountain road wasn't closed due to crashes) Enjoy, take care and hopefully we can meet up at some point. Cheers
Yep it was a good evening and great to chat to the guy starting the bikes who is Dick Shepherd. He owns those bikes and virtually all the bikes in the Triumph museum. Did I spot you on a live stream last night?
Think the bike was a promotion bike for Avon Tyres but yes done really nicely. Some Brits get slightly annoyed if Triumph put the Union Jack on bikes they build in Thailand then sell back here but that's a whole other story.
We were meant to be there but the other half couldn’t ride as she’s hurt her back! We’ve spent a lot of time there as she lived 2 miles from the factory and the exhibition is always changing so always worth a visit. Great vid guys 😃

2:18 Wow, that Moto 2 Bike is loud 😳 The whole event looked fantastic - a little bike show in the parking lot, tour through the factory, and lots of really interesting bikes on display inside the building. I'm surprised that the new Tiger 660 is as tall as the 1200. I just assumed it would be a bit smaller and more nimble.
Yep that Moto2 bike is seriously loud (the guy with orange trousers can't take it!) We were impressed what Triumph put on and what they let you see, all for free. Think Carol was disappointed the Tiger 660 was so tall considering its based on the lower Trident. She's 5ft 7 so no exactly a shorty. Did like the 1200 Tiger though. The guy starting the bikes is Dick Shepherd, he is a major collector of Triumph bikes and owns most of the bikes in that museum including the Triumph used by Steve McQueen in the Great Escape film.
That looked a great night. I do like the look of that new 1200, is it gonna be a GS killer? If you're ever down south on a Tuesday night through the summer months, Poole Quay bike night is amazing to visit. Nice video guys, thank you
Poole is a bit of a haul for us but if we are ever in the area👍 As for the Tiger being a GS killer.... I doubt it. So many folks like the low centre of gravity of the 1250 boxer and the midrange torque. Be interesting to see some proper head to head tests. Personally I'm only interested in the road bike's characteristics as there is just no way I'll ever take a 250KG off road .
The words we never want to hear… “it can’t be an addition” 🤣 The 1200 definitely suited you Richard. Brilliant video guys. I should have watched it last night though. Those start ups were a bit rowdy for a Sunday morning 🙉
Absolutly excellent guys that looked to be a roaring success well done Triumph always great to look around the bikes that turn up to these things too , the Avon Triumph looked mega . Gotta give it to Triumph they are putting out some really awesome bikes and they seem to go the extra mile on marketing and events .Great watch cheers
Great vid Richard! We went there for the first time last week - great place to visit 👍 you looked great on the 1200 - any thoughts about changing to a Triumph? 😀
Yes I saw your Facebook pictures, slightly more windy on your visit! Hope the bikes were unscathed. Looking forward to seeing a new vid from you two. To be honest I am taken with the new Tiger 1200 and wasn't just saying it for the film. Got a test ride booked. Much as I absolutely love the MT10, it has atrocious range at 100 miles and 34 mpg.
@@Banditmanuk Liked this vid Richard. I have ridden the Tiger 1215cc bike and it is much heavier than the MT10 and so much bigger. I quite liked the look of the Tiger 800, (because it was so much lighter than the 1215cc bike) and bought one about 4 years ago. Looked great, but felt uninvolving to ride(it felt slow and the engine drone and whistle got on my nerves). Each time the sun came out and I wanted to go for a ride, I chose the MT10. Personally, I wouldn't ever choose my main bike based on fuel consumption. For me, it's the sound, feel and performance and even if you change to the 1215, you will miss the MT10. When you sat on the Triumph, you said how comfortable it was, well if that's a criticism of the MT10, why haven't you put a comfort seat on it, as I have. Miles better You're welcome to borrow my comfort seat, if you wish.
@@RichardASK It's not so much fuel consumption its range. We tour alot and wherever we go it's X2 with the fuel. Love the MT10 but it's at 30k and 6 years old. Maybe just time for a change.... Maybe 😏
Nice edit! Seeing Carol speed home in her mini 🤣. When you sat on that tiger Richard I could see by your face you want one! Suits you! Enjoyed the vid, thanks for sharing.
Carol likes driving her little mini fast! I like the look of the 1200 Tiger very much, like to get a test ride. The amount of stopping for fuel and consumption on the MT10 is slightly depressing. Worked out yesterday's 200 mile run into Wales the MT10 used 1litre of fuel every 7.2 miles! Carol's powerful Triumph 675 did 12 miles per litre.
@@nicksepisode Carol had a 2012 purple one straight after her test, loved it. 10 years on she still only wants to ride a Street Triple. Some folks would say its too powerful for a first bike but they are so easy to ride. Mellow and smooth low down in the revs and quick higher up. The Trident based on the same engine but lower power would also be great.
Afraid not, we struggle to get to many work day bike nights. Mainly did the Vic Bikers pub Coalville Thursdays and the Norton bike night at Donington (now defunct!)

As for that tin can exhaust, loud and deep I can handle, loud and Sharp not so much 🙉. I can see you on that 1200 but I also think you'd miss the unadulterated fun of the MT10
Actually trying to get a test ride on the 1200 is proving quite difficult, local dealer said I could only test it for 30 minutes. 30 minutes isn't long enough for such a big decision.
@@Banditmanuk Dealers are probably snowed under with test ride requests, especially with everyone and their dog now doing bike reviews, that and the lack of availability of new bikes.
