I remember watching this show when I was 14 and HAAATING it. There are parts and characters that I do like, but Usui truly soured my opinion of the entire thing.
When I was a kid, EVERY girl I knew loved Usui and wanted either him or a guy like him. Now he's remembered as a creep to normies and an ultra machismo prick (to people who have watched the show) instead. Pretty funny turnaround.
I liked this show but I didn't exactly know why he felt so off ... Now I do . He was kinda creepy and always tried to take her down a notch , and this was when he wasn't even an adult . In the manga , his mom was a huge red flag and yet portrayed as a victim, his half brother was portrayed as a jerk but God damn , poor boy was a bigger victim. Maid sama was basically saying that you gotta fall for the first guy that 'saves' you no matter how capsule you are .

Made Sama was my first anime and I loved it so much. I still love it no matter the flaws❤. also “lemoncake” I love that so cute.☺️ and lemon cake it’s just so delicious as well😋

This was the first ever sub anime I watched when I was like…12-13? My older sister put it on UA-cam and I watched the episodes religiously. Probably because it was something I never experienced within my Balkan isolated life? Maybe my English were not that good to understand the plot? But yeah…even though my stupid teenager brain loved this show…rewatching this anime cringes me to the core
Thank you for your thoughts on Usui and his character overall, please do more character analysis on anime characters, it's amazing. As for Usui being a red or green flag, I honestly have no comment because in most anime(shojo, shounen, josei, or senien), if the character or characters do something out of line, they get a pass because that's how anime does it. Maid- Sama needs a season two.
