Yeah honestly the part when he says "Hillary clinton voters are stupid! Vote for trump!" Was pretty bad... its even more worse when in the show the girl said "The salem witch trials were completely justified"... Sigh men am i right guys?
I loved that one scene where they actually let her stop the creepy masochist stalkers by breaking her handcuffs before Usui could do anything and taking them down herself, but she still thanks him in the end like he was the hero when he didn’t do anything😭😭
I strongly agree with everything you said, and at the same time I recognize that the show was quite revolutionary for when it came out. The original Manga came out in 2005 Japan, which was a time where it was very common for tropes like these to exist in anime and Manga. Sexual harassment was considered a playful romantic gesture, saving the day unnecessarily considered a sign that the love interest cares about the protagonist, and the male love interest being better than the female protagonist considered mysterious, charming, and cool BECAUSE the protagonist is strong. What wasn't common however was a female protagonist like Misaki. Although objectively when unbiasedly analyzing the show she seems weak at the worst times and usui takes over, to the viewer from the time the only impression they're left with is damn she's strong and intelligent and hardworking. Keeping the then cultural environment in mind, this show was very phenomenal for its time, and I can't help but enjoy it because of the nostalgia I feel towards it. But I do agree with all the points stated nevertheless and every time I rewatch it as a I age (many times over the course of 9+ years), I realize that if I'd discovered this anime in my current age I wouldn't have liked it nearly as much as I do for the reasons you gave.
I just started watching it for the first time yesterday and made it to episode 4 and I honestly don't like it. I couldn't understand why it's so praised when the main love interest does these problematic things to the mc and the rest of the male students never change their sexist attitudes :/ Your analysis is great!
I feel u!! No rlly cuz the first 4-5 episodes made me uninterested and I didn’t like the love interest’s action (did like his looks tho) but after episode 6 everything was going well. I watch maid-sama for everything except the actual romance. Like I love all the character but tbh Usugi is rlly boring in my opinion, most of the time he’s just there like ;-;
The hickey scene didn't even seem to me to be him understanding that she didn't want to wear it. It seemed more like him being possessive. Whenever other guys are coming on to her his intrusion into the situation is usually welcome because she's not interested but the reason he states for doing it isn't to make sure her voice is heard but because he "gets possessive". Its basically him saying "she's mine". That can be seen as attractive to some people. For me it was the least sexy thing he could have done because he forced her to decide between doing what she wants and not having people think she was doing sexual things she wasn't doing. In the end she backed down and kept herself covered up when she'd rather not. But maybe I'm missing something.
ah yeah, I think the possessive thing is definitely a huge part of it too. I checked back on the scene, and before the hickey scene, Misaki recalls to Usui that the Maid Cafe owner asked her to wear the bikini (to which Misaki responded with a shocked/unenthused face) and Misaki couldn't bring herself to refuse and says that she had to wear it. It's not really clear if that factored into Usui's reaction to it tho, and if so how much, even if it did work to "excuse" it in the narrative, so it's definitely possible that Usui was soley being possessive. (excuse in quotations, since what he did really isn't ok). I think his possessiveness is attractive to some viewers, but not really in a realistic way - as in, being "possessed" is a romantic fantasy for some people, even if it is not representative of a healthy relationship, or even representative of what would be attractive to them in reality. (though I think there are some people who actually want these unhealthy relations, and don't separate these genres of fantasy from what they want in reality which is concerning...) And not everyone has that fantasy. So, yeah, you're not really missing much! Thanks for the comment btw.
I'm a woman and actually don't mind the hickey example if they were actually dating but they weren't and Misaki has constantly said no and rejected him but he always says he knows what she's thinking and for him no means yes which I hate. I hate how he looks so charming but that personality of his is not good@@mellyq92
it's a shame too because I really love his design and this artstyle. The only other anime with manga-like artstyle is My Little Monster. For me Haru has autism and it kind of makes sense because his brother calls him "special" and more evidence in manga. He acts autistic too. I have autism but I'm a woman so my traits aren't same as a guy's@@mellyq92
This!! I always hated Usui when I was watching the show a couple months ago. He is disgusting for harassing and sexually assaulting misaki. I don’t get why fans praise Usui and this anime when it’s so sexist and romanticizes sexual assault.
Why do you think hisoka is so praised when he literally commits pedophilic acts over the main protagonist Gon? Thousands of fangirls simp over him. Why people like Light Yagami who genocidal maniac and killed about 100,000 people, yet people who watch death note still want him to win?
@@lightyagami5811 Usui is portrayed as a good guy and saviour. That's the difference. Nothing wrong with finding villains and problematic characters attractive. This particular anime justifies oppressive behaviours and make them seem sweet.
The main points I dislike about this show, are sexual harassment &assault and just kind of feels wrong- I mean, they write a strong lead, but still make her ridiculously weak in some situations, she nearly is dependent of him all the time and needs his help In general that genre seems like saying „Yes, ‚females‘ are strong.. but men are stronger‘ where they make the lead woman strong but the love interest stronger (p.ex special a, maid sama, etc (I know a lot more, but I forgot the english title)), where the girl can make everything herself, but gets a few times weaker when he s on the screen ._. and they often not only makes him physical stronger, but like better in everything (like making money, intelligence, good grades, handling emotions, etc) and then that love interest-guy is often sadistic, womanizer, sexual harasser, pervert, overprotective and controlling, underestimating the female lead, like not trusting her to do anything independently alone (-> controlling) (and honestly misogynistic) and says things like ‚Don t forget, you re still a girl, I Il do that‘ And then the woman blushes and they make that look like it s some sort of kindness and romantic scene ;-; Like there s so much wrong with this kind of sentences, but like no one cares. And then the skirts in the maid café are pretty short and I in general feel like the anime/manga kind of sexualizes maids (many animes /shows do) And Usui just kind of acts like Misaki is a kid or something, he often makes things without her consent or decides without her. Like the hickey so she wouldn t do something she doesn t want to.. I mean, she s old enough to decide that herself and he could ve just talk to her about it instead of deciding for her Also not to mention that there s a high power difference, where Usui is just in a higher position in nearly every way and being a bit controlly(?) (like the bikini hickey scene, in general he s really controlling Misaki and also wanting that control), so it s less of an equal duo like healthy relationships should be, and more of a competition/game where Usui is written to win If they show would have made him ‚uglier‘, he blushing less and the show reacting different in problematic scenes, no one would see this as romantic, not to mention, if you want to show a girl that hates men because of trauma that ‚not all men‘, why would you give her a misogonistic, toxic pervert love interest? Shouldn t you like take an actual good guy to show her empathy and sympathy and how to be nice to others, if you hate them or not? (Not to mention, Misaki seems a bit like the reason some hate feminism, „menhating, wanting to be superior to men and being mean to every male“, , while in reality it s about equality, and yea, some hate men, but not all of them want to minimize their rights or kill them-) So I think her hating men and being mean to them and then meeting a feminine or masculine but really nice boy who d show her empathy and really show her through actions in order for her to get that character development, because like it currently is, it s like she was forced to learn it and seems a bit unnatural by learning love through a pervert stalker and three mini stalkers, the only pr mainly nice men were yukimura and his romantic bromance dude
@@akazienoel2009 Out of fun curiosity, what manga/anime romances do you find more compelling? Are there some that are unusual/strange but you find nonetheless charming over all? FYI, I never watched Maid Sama (tried reading the manga but lost interest with how overly aggressive yet miniscule the heroine is to her love interest). I'm still somewhat new to romances as I have only seen a few.
@@cadethumann8605 I personally really like those who are a bit out of the norm/have something in them which makes them more ‚wow‘ than your usual romance (doesn t have to be much) & if possible also a healthy relationship with nothing too problematic and not a macho male lead, nonetheless I still prefer romances with lgbtqia+ there, though it s harder to find (even harder when you search healthy ones w/h smut ;-;) And you? :> And to the second one, yea, some (define strange though-)
Watched it, and it’s just okay. I absolutely could not stand Usui. It’s fine to like romance fantasies, but Usui literally sexually assaulted her multiple times, and took away her agency from her. While sure, she didn’t want to be seen in a bikini by everyone, she still made the choice to do it because Maid Latte was understaffed. If Usui respected her boundaries, he would’ve respected the fact that she made her own decision, but no, instead he literally kisses her back in order to “save her” from the embarrassment of wearing a bikini. It’s stupid. And that’s literally only one example of Usui being a fucking asshole. On the topic of Hinata, he deserved much better. I’m upset they shoe-horned him in, because he was a much more interesting character than Usui. He was sweet, nice, and him and Misaki just felt more natural to me. Instead of forcing himself onto her like Usui, he’d always be shy around her. Hell, the one time he spoke about being a man to her be nearly lost it because he couldn’t believe he spoke to her like that. Don’t even get me started on how Usui treated him. Hinata hadn’t seen Misaki in years, and the one time he wanted to catch up with her, Usui just had to tag along. Just when Hinata finally struck up a good conversation with Misa, Usui scuffed her shoe to get her attention and to get her to stop talking to him. It was rude. Sorry for the long rant lol
I was head over heels over Usui when I was 12 but watching scenes and rewatching it at 17 I can say he isn't great as I though, but even when I was 12, I was rooting for Hinata and Misaki more and still I do. It's so sad what happened to Hinata :( If you watch the opening video with like 10 million views, you can still see many girls head over heels for someone like Usui and it's terrible to read the comments
i dont see how thats a problem... they are shows that basically normalizing killing other ppl but everyone knows that "its just a show" why should this be different

Before watching maidsama i was checking reviews and all, everyone said it was good and nothing wrong,i didn’t know what it was about so i was excited.I watched a couple of episodes and i was disappointed, usui harassing misaki pissed me off,and the fact that noone told me about it made it worse, not only did he sexually harrass misaki but another boy,no one said anything, everyone adored usui for his looks.i heard they ended up together so i dropped it.personally i don’t like anime romances that have a character ending up with someone who harassed them.
This is really freaking good, im suprised this has so little views!! Your analysis was really in depth and you handled those topics really well. I watched maid sama again after 4 years and didn't realise how bad Usui's actions towards Misaki were. Though its ok to have fantasy I dont think it is good for such young minds to consume content like Maid Sama. Their young and probably dont have such a good grasp on relationships/romance, and may take in very bad messages from Maid sama, mainly from Usui. This type of genre is mainly consumed by young girls, and I hope it doesn't instil really bad, false, or warped messages of love. I'm glad you talked about that type of stuff in Maid Sama, most people brush it off, dont achnoledge it, or make terrible excuses for it.
Replace Usui with an Unattractive guy and BOOM!!! I'm a girl and I think the show was well made and comedic, I enjoyed it that way but the romantic aspect was trash.
i would say that Maid sama is a show for its time. Back when it was airing, the actions that Usui were doing were not considered problematic, but actually seen as romantic, since those are tropes that are prevalent in early 2000 romcom. I liked it when i watched it but i understand that there’s some problematic actions from Usui
Finally someone with a brain and i agree to the fullest. People these days don’t even share there own opinion anymore and just copy everything. They get so emotional unstable, that its just annoying most of the time, it’s sad that we can’t enjoy things that where considered normal in the past, because people who discovered the term sexism, harassment or feminism for the first time, must throw this bulls*t into every entertaining stuff or there argument these days now. If you see that nobody has his own diverse opinion anymore, than there is nothing to argue about.
@@The_Omnipotent_Lurkentertaining stuff? watching a girl getting sexually harrased entertains you? this show is just fucking hypocritical. when usui sexually harrases misaki, its fine, but when others do, its suddenly all a-ok? god i hope you never comment ever again in your life.
this was a really good analysis! i just finished it and i definitely agree on how the show contradicts itself and it is def important for viewers to understand how it’s a fantasy, how Usuis actions wouldn’t be “romantic” irl but besides it i thought i really enjoyed the show and its characters❤️
The "teasing" would look fun if Misaki didn't have so much mood swings 😑 I used to watch this on Animax but I stopped when I realized that Usui had to be EVERYWHERE to save the day. Also he's perfect at everything which makes it boring for me. The heroin is the weakest female lead ever. I actually love stories where a prominent character chases their love interest (throw themselves at their crush) wouldn't mind if it looked like harassment but this is manipulative, controlling, abusive. Also why is Usui the popular guy in school? Doesn't make sense to me. + He could lust over her without making her look useless all the time. Let her do what she wants and appreciate her potential.
My friend is obsessed with the show, is in love with Usui and says he’s the hottest anime guy alive...she keeps pushing me to watch the show but I’ve heard about how he’s a stalker, and when I asked about it she said “oh he’s just protecting her”...nothing against my friend, I love her, but like she also needs to understand that a) her opinion is objective, b) I’m trans masc and if this is the sort of thing that’s in this show, I’m pretty sure I won’t be comfortable with it, and c) I don’t like romcoms. I watch stuff like assassination classroom, demon slayer, attack on titan, I’ve stayed away from the show and I guess this just reinforces my thoughts. I’m gonna show my friend this video, but also thank you for taking you time to make this video, much appreciated. (To those who might tell me to try to take a chance on the show, no. I don’t like romcoms, I don’t like the whole “yeah the mc is strong but like the ml is stronger” thing. Harassment is a no, stalking is a no.)
I personally love Kaichou-Wa-Maid-Sama so much. But I do see the problems with the sexual harassment and you are right. To me the sexual harassment was kinda Usuis flaw? Like he was well meaning and caring but he went about it in the wrong way and that's what he had to kinda unlearn? I realise now that is not how the show played it off.
I really can't stand the show as I'm attempting to re-watch it as an adult now. Maybe I'm too wokedy woke but all the sexual assualt, attempt at rape, and Uzui's constant crossing of boundaries is too much 🤢. I also don't like how everything Misaki can handle on her own uzui steps in to "save the day" entirely unnecessarily. She isn't allowed to succeed and always has to thank him for assaulting her and doing what she could've done herself.
I understand the negative opinions and views of the show but it’s honestly one of my favorites. I didn’t really see the possessiveness and harassment in the first watch but I still watch it to this day. Mostly because I understand it’s fictional and I like the premise, execution wise it has not held up.
this is such a good analysis and review! i was so into the show in the first two episodes then there was some scenes that made me uncomfortable :// i love the concept they tried to do but the outcome just isnt as good
Maid Sama is not a good show, but I love Misaki so much to like no end in truth, that it makes me appreciate the show just for her character. Usui was never attractive or even a good character ever, and I liked Hinata way more, but it makes me sad that such a great character has to be stuck in such an ass show.
I honestly have no idea how people could stand this show like I've rarely ever dropped shows but this show was so bad I couldn't take it I had to stop so that way I wouldn't break my computer
First I'd like to say: feminism, womens rights Ok so now that thats settled I kinda can forgive usui, because he isn't real. Still very hot, very romantic, but if I ever encountered someone like him in real life I would get a restraining order
I don’t really agree with this, but that’s okay. You did a good job on this Edit: the more I think about it, you’re actually right. I agree completely. I still like usui but his actions aren’t great.
Straight up love this video. I watched Maid Sama back in middle school and liked it but hearing about it again a bit last year I couldn't really make up my mind cause I couldn't remember a lot of scenes, especially regarding Usui's actions. I think this video does well to explain the characters and the issue some of the actions brought
Also i heard we get usui’s backstory in the manga but he’s so meh in the anime. We get hints about his life all throughout but it’s never the main focus.
i loved this show when i was little and i still do, its very fun to watch because its so ludicrous much like most animes i also loved your thoughts, this is such a detailed and entertaining review thank you ! great work!
Thank you for making this video! I remember really loving this show when I was younger and growing to not like certain aspects of it because of realizing all the sexual harassment and threats towards Misaki that Usui made. I felt a little alone since it's still pretty much revered as a classic and people don't like to look at it from that POV.
Well at least in real life now men aren't getting in way of women's agency with most of them going MGTOW and not wanting to even help woman with the fear of being called sexist or misogynistic. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Just do what you feel is appropriate and don't worry about it because you gonna have haters either way.
i guess i would have liked it if there weren't as many mood swings, s3xu4l h4rr4sment, and misaki always getting rescued. i mean, sure he can protect her at times, but half of the time she's just there while usui fights w/ someone. i wanted to see more of misaki actually being strong istead of this brute who's angry all the time and has a soft spot. i mean, i kind of liked it? mixed feelings about it
I watched this show years ago and loved it, but I've been rewatching it recently, and now I'm seeing how problematic it is, lol. That said, it still has a place in my heart
I mean i reaaaaally liked it when she saved herself from the masochists at maid latte who tied her up before usui could and it actually surprised me i thought they would go with some lesson like: dont be so careless u still a girl or something like that
I think you guys are missing the point on Usui, he becomes what misa wanted to believe he was, he wasn't actually a pervert but she felt more comfortable just thinking about him as one than to think about her feelings, she literally couldn't focus all day cause Usui kissed her. Usui crosses lines to fit in to her perception. Are we just gonna ingnore the fact that the rich guy was literally on top of her? That was gross, and the guys that were gonna tie her up and "wanted to get dominated by her" those lines are crossed way farther than anything Usui did. Like she said Usui is obsessive, and takes things to far, but that's with everything he does. Jumping off of buildings and his "daily routine" on the episode they spy on him to see who he is, he's literally what her friend perceived him as he deliberately goes out of his way to be who they thought he was.
The video literally mentions Usui's actions and most things in the anime written with exaggeration for the sake of comedy, or simply being a fantasy thing. If Usui was ugly or even plain, no one would be defending him like this. Just say you want to be dominated by a rich, handsome guy and leave.
This show is sexist, Misaki treats the girls better than the boys and does not even give them a chance. Just because of what happened in her family. She shouldn't treat other people like that just because of what happened to herself and her family.
fr it's sexist to both genders misaki is sexist to guys and usui is sexist to girls but i found the sexism towards women a bit more disturbing tbh because misaki didnt really go as far as usui he literally called women weak and that they are lesser than men it's so messed up
Ah yes. I do dislike the show when the anime guy said "I think that the taliban is pretty based and awesome". I also didnt like when the girl said "Man the metoo movement was an absolute mistake. The sexual revolution too". And then at the end where they said "Vote from trump 2020!" The author really needs to get their act together
Honestly I thought it was painfully average and i hated the third act love triangle. I didn’t feel like i got a chance to truly love the characters like i do other stories :/ Also the ending felt rushed to me
I personally loved maid sama and I agree with the video how the show can be sexist and etc. Maybe if they could’ve removed the sexual harressment and the other stuff It would’ve been a really good shoujo show. Kind of the same for ouran. Like how they were also being sexist etc.
Liked the show but when i rewatched it the sexual harrasment really sticked out to me. When i was younger i never gave it much thought but overall i like it
I saw this first of all in my teenage days my heart used to beat seeing this but when i started watching it all over again i just puked watching this i was like what the heck did i used to get crazy for?? and i just hate this trope of crazy hundreads and thousands of girls or guys simping over a character and the wierd part about this is that it really happens in their country like really?? what are we fools ?? i must say Oxygen is most attractive thing we all should simp for and not any person for their looks b'cause looks are just temporarary they fade away with time don't ever simp for looks simp for Oxygen i must say Oxygen is Real love a true one indeed.
Well in my opinion Maid Sama is good Even thou Usui doesn't harras her , he just teases her You are using really tough words for expressing Usui thou... I didn't like it , Usui is a Charming Character and he just teases Misaki for her Reactions... (edited ) well now I have rewatched this show again, and now I think Usui's actions aren't acceptable .. also why Misaki has to be put down or shown weak at some point and Usui has to come to her rescue why not let Misaki save Usui at his weak points , like he doesn';t even have weak points
That's not teasing. He doesn't respect her boundaries at all. Someone can be charming and still do bad things. People can express their dislike of a fictional character for many reasons.

I watched all of true blood and what i got from that show is sookie was the type of feminist who would constantly say you dont own me for no reason. yea we know no one owns you. the streets owned sookie. she slept with the entire cast. thats not a love story. a love story to me would be two people being loyal and not see anyone else or cheat ever. in animes and live actions why does a love story always have to go with the white knight theory. even in live actions its always the girl had a bad boyfriend and a good guy came and stole her away like a white knight. why cant a love story just be two people and never involve a third person at all? Edit: no im not editing grammar on my edit. i dont care. i was going to say twilight and true blood were trash vampire werewolf love stories. Want a good vampire werewolf series that might not involve love stories then watch underworld.
I'm going to throw my two cents. First this is a Japanese show, Japan culture feels very alien to us westerners. Also this show is over 10 years old and a lot of things have changed since then. You also have to consider that it's an anime so by its nature it's highly exaggerated for comedic effect. How boring would it have been if Usui didn't aggressively chased her, or if she didnt hate boys so much? Its part of the comedy. He's portrayed as a superman and he falls in love with a man hater and poor girl and he does everything he can to protect her and to conquer her heart. Isn't that Japanese culture at it's core? Isn't that the dream of any teenager? I really liked the show because I didn't read anything into it and simply enjoyed the funny situations they got into. Its is really a funny anime.
I agree with you man for some reason people like things they watch that they dont like and it pops out to them. Its like the things on the show that they experienced and bringing the whole theme of the story somewhere else.
I'm an asian person and I watched this show wayy back as a kid, and let me just say, a lot of people hated this anime for the same reasons people mention today. I'm well aware teenagers want someone to love them like that and chase them, I was one such teen once, but this show really made me uncomfortable to no end, even when I didn't completely understand why. It has some really harmful messages to kids, which are made even worse by anime being a medium where everything is exaggerated. Exaggeration, to me, is only okay if its not plausible, like in a fantasy or action, stuff kids won't get involved in real life. But this gives kids the impression that relentless pursuing is romantical and funny
I don't necessarily agree with you but I do love the show and it was very thoughtful to even put this on UA-cam misaki in my opinion is just trying to make sure that females are more recognizable as if they can do anything a guy can

@@AquaFoxes thank you for responding to my comment!
That’s why no one wants to be romantic with u
I could make similar argument to Nagatoro where main girl constantly harrasses main protagonist still she is loved by many people.
Please re evaluate your opinion
@@lightyagami5811 Usui is portrayed as a good guy and saviour. That's the difference. Nothing wrong with finding villains and problematic characters attractive. This particular anime justifies oppressive behaviours and make them seem sweet.
Okay twittard
The main points I dislike about this show, are sexual harassment &assault and just kind of feels wrong-
I mean, they write a strong lead, but still make her ridiculously weak in some situations, she nearly is dependent of him all the time and needs his help
In general that genre seems like saying „Yes, ‚females‘ are strong.. but men are stronger‘ where they make the lead woman strong but the love interest stronger (p.ex special a, maid sama, etc (I know a lot more, but I forgot the english title)), where the girl can make everything herself, but gets a few times weaker when he s on the screen ._. and they often not only makes him physical stronger, but like better in everything (like making money, intelligence, good grades, handling emotions, etc) and then that love interest-guy is often sadistic, womanizer, sexual harasser, pervert, overprotective and controlling, underestimating the female lead, like not trusting her to do anything independently alone (-> controlling) (and honestly misogynistic) and says things like ‚Don t forget, you re still a girl, I Il do that‘
And then the woman blushes and they make that look like it s some sort of kindness and romantic scene ;-;
Like there s so much wrong with this kind of sentences, but like no one cares.
And then the skirts in the maid café are pretty short and I in general feel like the anime/manga kind of sexualizes maids (many animes /shows do)
And Usui just kind of acts like Misaki is a kid or something, he often makes things without her consent or decides without her. Like the hickey so she wouldn t do something she doesn t want to.. I mean, she s old enough to decide that herself and he could ve just talk to her about it instead of deciding for her
Also not to mention that there s a high power difference, where Usui is just in a higher position in nearly every way and being a bit controlly(?) (like the bikini hickey scene, in general he s really controlling Misaki and also wanting that control), so it s less of an equal duo like healthy relationships should be, and more of a competition/game where Usui is written to win
If they show would have made him ‚uglier‘, he blushing less and the show reacting different in problematic scenes, no one would see this as romantic, not to mention, if you want to show a girl that hates men because of trauma that ‚not all men‘, why would you give her a misogonistic, toxic pervert love interest?
@Lana Hasan Yes, absolutely
i agree with you
@@camanbare9400 okay cool :>
And to the second one, yea, some (define strange though-)
It's so sad what happened to Hinata :(

I was really rooting for Hinata. I was literally crying for him. I adoreddd Usui when I was younger but now, he is really just a flirt and stalker
i would say that Maid sama is a show for its time.
I agree with you!
Im watching this after you have posted this for two years, but I still rewatch this show everytime I want to feel the high school love again!!
Idk about y’all but that “welcome home big brother” theme threw me all the way off kinda random but still
SAME
I understand the negative opinions and views of the show but it’s honestly one of my favorites.
Yeah Same
I honestly have no idea how people could stand this show like I've rarely ever dropped shows but this show was so bad I couldn't take it I had to stop so that way I wouldn't break my computer
First I'd like to say: feminism, womens rights
Ok so now that thats settled I kinda can forgive usui, because he isn't real. Still very hot, very romantic, but if I ever encountered someone like him in real life I would get a restraining order
I don’t really agree with this, but that’s okay. You did a good job on this
Edit: the more I think about it, you’re actually right. I agree completely. I still like usui but his actions aren’t great.
Totally agree this was awesome
Straight up love this video. I watched Maid Sama back in middle school and liked it but hearing about it again a bit last year I couldn't really make up my mind cause I couldn't remember a lot of scenes, especially regarding Usui's actions. I think this video does well to explain the characters and the issue some of the actions brought
how can this channel not have 50k subs?
Also i heard we get usui’s backstory in the manga but he’s so meh in the anime. We get hints about his life all throughout but it’s never the main focus.
Gosh, this was a unbiased, good analysis.
I'd love your opinion on the new (or old) Fruits Basket as well
i loved this show when i was little and i still do, its very fun to watch because its so ludicrous much like most animes
i also loved your thoughts, this is such a detailed and entertaining review
thank you !
Just do what you feel is appropriate and don't worry about it because you gonna have haters either way.
anyways it should have season 2
this show is straight BOOTY but i get why some people like it now
i guess i would have liked it if there weren't as many mood swings, s3xu4l h4rr4sment, and misaki always getting rescued. i mean, sure he can protect her at times, but half of the time she's just there while usui fights w/ someone. i wanted to see more of misaki actually being strong istead of this brute who's angry all the time and has a soft spot. i mean, i kind of liked it? mixed feelings about it
I watched this show years ago and loved it, but I've been rewatching it recently, and now I'm seeing how problematic it is, lol.
@@PichuElricI think that's Exactly what I'm getting. It's okay for someone to behave like usui if he's attractive.

And then at the end where they said "Vote from trump 2020!"
The author really needs to get their act together
Honestly I thought it was painfully average and i hated the third act love triangle. I didn’t feel like i got a chance to truly love the characters like i do other stories :/
Also the ending felt rushed to me
I personally loved maid sama and I agree with the video how the show can be sexist and etc. Maybe if they could’ve removed the sexual harressment and the other stuff It would’ve been a really good shoujo show. Kind of the same for ouran. Like how they were also being sexist etc.

Even thou Usui doesn't harras her , he just teases her
You are using really tough words for expressing Usui thou...
I agree with you the only reason why he teases her is because he knows she likes her and he wants to get her to open up
That's not teasing. He doesn't respect her boundaries at all. Someone can be charming and still do bad things. People can express their dislike of a fictional character for many reasons.

when she compared it to twilight i cant stand those kind of romances. a love story to me is between two people i can stand love triangles or more. like wtf its almost like people want to think about being ucked with a c at the beginning of the word not sure if youtube censors it.
Good thing it’s still boring
The romance is still boring. There are older romance manga and anime that are better written than this.
If your MC has to harass a girl in a romance story so it wouldn’t be boring, then that is one shitty story sorry to tell you.
The show is okay but growing up I ADORED the Manga.
this show gets boring bcoz it starts getting away from reality most boring arc was the sports festival
I watched it I realised two things
It's kinda cringe💀
There's a lot of boys who wanna sexually harrass misa.😅
I don't necessarily agree with you but I do love the show and it was very thoughtful to even put this on UA-cam misaki in my opinion is just trying to make sure that females are more recognizable as if they can do anything a guy can
