Edward Furlong had a REAL edginess (both in his actual look and his demeanor) and a sarcastic smart-assery to him though that DiCaprio didn’t have (DiCaprio can "act" cocky and smart-ass, but it's not his natural nature) that made him perfect for John Connor. Unfortunately, Furlong then became a junkie, which destroyed his chances of continuing to play the role throughout the remainder of the Terminator franchise. Indisputably, I do think DiCaprio is ACTUALLY the better actor, BUT, Furlong was BORN to play John Connor.
Which is actually a shame, because he could have potentially built a VERY stable career playing this role, ALL the way up through Terminator: Dark Fate, which would have reunited him with Linda Hamilton, which would have been COMPLETELY EPIC! One of the GREAT mother/son movie reunions of ALL TIME, even if only for one scene. Oh well....🤷

Hahahaaahaha I can't believe how stupid all of you are... He was still young he didn't had any experience with acting, and of course when someone wants to learn something he/she will do anything, in this case Brad paid many money to learn because he wanted to be actor... He is a true example of that when you want something so much you will do anything to be best in that job(in this case acting)... Congrats Brad you are one of the best actors in the world and let them speak about how terrible actor you are every celebrity has haters, but the most important thing is that they hate you because you are still beautiful and so many of this people who are writing shit about you are jealous of your beauty... I wish you all the best and many years of acting, you prove how good actor you are by winning an Oscar this year... I hope the next nomination you get is for best actor and win an Oscar for that too you really deserves. One of the best actors of this 20 years... And all of you who says that he is a bad actor watch Troy, inglorious basterds, moneyball, 12 monkeys and fight club, legends of the fall... You will see how wrong you are fucking haters

@@Lissitchka yeah sure :) 10 years ago we were already watching this video to check out these stars before they were big.
The idea of calling Brad Pitt and Leo DiCaprio collectively 'this future celebrity' when they were already huge at the time of writing and had been for q a while before that is stupid. On top of that, my style of writing was earnest and therefore at odds with the downright ignorant stupidity of what I was suggesting. The comment was totally absurd and any humour such as it was lay in entertaining the absurdity both of the comment and idea of writing it. 10 years on, I'm glad I did.

When I saw Pitt’s audition for “Backdraft” all I could think of was Thelma & Louise. He would have been a TERRIBLE choice for Backdraft, but was Oscar-worthy in Thelma & Louise. Helen Hunt might have been ok as Ellie Sattler, but Laura Dern was better. Jennifer Connelly and Russell Crowe were BRILLIANT in A Beautiful Mind, and it’s hard to imagine any other actors in those roles.

  • @mariannesauvage6100
    @mariannesauvage6100 9 років тому +3

I guess Matt Lauer did not know that many would consider it unethical and inappropriate, if legal, for casting directors to sell audition tapes. When actors come in to audition, it's their time to try all kinds of things, do different takes, and feel safe that only the people directly involved with the project will see the footage. I am surprised that the actors union, SAG-AFTRA, has not said anything, unless the sellers got signed releases from the actors who gave their permission and waived all rights. One thing is for an audition to appear "mysteriously" on UA-cam, and another is for 3rd parties to profit.

You're right about that. Some actors can get away with it if the movies are good enough. Bruce Willis is one of my all time favorite actors along with Samuel Jackson, but both don't change very much from role to role. Both have only stepped out of their usual personas a couple of times. I think some just possess the talent of sucking you into the movie better than others, no matter the storyline.

Russell Crowe was in THE INSIDER in 1999 for which he received his first Oscar nomination. GLADIATOR was released the following year for which he won the Oscar. Ron Howard said her cast Crowe upon seeing GLADIATOR. By that time, he already had an Oscar nomination under his belt from the previous year, and GLADIATOR was a blockbuster. Therefore, he had more leverage than some small-time actor.

Oh dang, I thought that was Helen Hunt. I think I mixed that film up with Twister in my head. They both had to get away in cars a lot. lol

    Helen Hunt was good!

Agreed. After seeing her audition tape I can't fathom why they went with Dern. I loved Dern as a kid, but when I went to see the 3-D re-release last spring (my first time watching it as an adult), I found Dern unbelievable in the part. She was very girlish and quite amateurish in her line delivery. In her audition, Hunt was commanding. I would believe that she was a paleontologist. The scientific words she used came out of her naturally. Dern sounded like she didn't know what she was saying.

I used to think Brad Pitt was overrated, but I totally changed my mind after seeing several of his films from the last 5 years or so, particularly The Tree of Life.

I agree. I liked Tree of life as well as several of his other films. There is no actor or actress that I can say I liked all of their films. People expected him to be just the pretty boy leading man, but that wasn't his game plan. When he got enough clout that he could make films he chose, that's what he did. He isn't after the next blockbuster like some actors. He was brilliant in Snatch. His audition was bad, but I gave him a break because he was a small town boy with no formal training, no family in the business. Few people are naturals, most have to work at it, hard. He didn't have a clue. I imagine he was pretty nervous. Now he's not only respected as an actor, but also as a producer.

This may be dumb but I really want to know how they make the actors look like they are crying or do they actually cry? How does one make themselves cry right on cue?

Antwan if you don't understand acting please don't comment on it. Brad has done some of the most impressive, over the top acting I've ever seen.
I've always said that the straw that broke the camel's back in his marriage to Jennifer A. Was his constant practicing of that accent for Snatch. Snatch had a separate cc track just for his character! I tried to watch w/out it and couldn't. now that I watched w/ it I get it. "Ya like dogs, I like dogs!"
"Kalifornia" I went into thinking this won't be any good. By the end I was very scared of Earley Grayce.. And, then it occurred to me I've known several guys who were Brad Pitt pretty, but very stupid, and very inclined to violent behavior. I don't know about murder, but they were quite violent!
"Seven was brilliant I was screaming at him to not shoot that motherfucker at the end.
I don't know you Antwan, but I do know you have no business criticizing movies, and movie stars.
"12 monkeys", also brilliant. I mean you no malice Antwan, if you feel so inclined go ahead and tell me why I'm wrong.

i actually think Helen Hunt would have been better for Jurassic park. than the actress who played in it.
