I've got a 15-pound medium-haired brown tabby who I suspect has some Maine Coon in him (a few physical traits as well as an insanely laid-back and gentle personality). He's an absolute powerhouse and so handsome.
The first time I ever met a MC was at a cat show in the late 80s. He was a 7mo version of Buddy and already weighed 15 pounds. His mistress had appropriately named him Baby Huey.
@@Vagajammermy MC girl was *checks, converts* 12lbs in January when they were just about 11 months old… have I really not weighed them for 6 months?! She hates being picked up or put anywhere against her will and gets very wriggly, but I just have to get her to stay still long enough for my scales to register our combined weights (then do another weighing of just me, then do subtraction), so tomorrow morning might be weigh-in day! Her brother was the best part of 18lbs in Jan, and I always laugh when people see Nika first and exclaim about how big she is, because she’s the little one! Harvey can now comfortably reach the door handles to use as a stretching post (he hasn’t figured out how to open doors yet, and just likes to close them then loudly complain about them being closed), and will casually reach up and swipe things from the kitchen counters… he’s just so *long*. He’s also got comically huge paws (so I think he’s definitely not done growing) which helps to make him an absolute murder machine when it comes to insects… he hasn’t had the opportunity for anything bigger, but in his mind he’s definitely not just a ferocious ginger lion, but one who can fly - no creature will be safe! (Unless it’s windy, or there’s heavy rain or hail, or thunder, or just unexpected sounds in general, in which case he’s a massive scaredycat and will be hiding behind Nikita)
They are gentle giants but petite compared to their Norwegian cousins... We had an enormous one aptly named Big Max who was just adored being in water which is supposedly typical and often I'd be yelling MAX! GET OUT OF THE POOL! I'm really impressed with his temperament! He wasn't happy, but never once tried to hiss, scratch, or bite. Beautiful cat and looking forward to seeing the kittens! 😾🤗😄
He has a beautiful temerment. It was a little bit sad when he was turned away, his face an inch from the wall, just letting whatever happen. Good kitty deserves a tuna dinner after all that.
Maine Coons do it even more than regular cats do, because they're legs are comparatively short for how long their bodies are. Mine would look like a snake when he was running somewhere when he was younger.
My Maine Coon boy also has really long legs, despite being so long in the body! It’s always so weird to see him low down skulking because it doesn’t seem like it should be possible! He did it just this weekend from room to room in my flat because he decided he didn’t like the look of my new pair of Birkenstocks 😂 (he’s a big baby)
What a gorgeous boy! Even before the "acid bath" and "flamethrower." He didn't even look like he was planning your unaliving at any point, very impressive. Definitely looking forward to seeing his kittens.
Vanessa, I can't thank you enough for introducing your audience to the Equigroomer. I ordered one for my two Husky mixes. Not only does it do an amazing job of removing their undercoat, but my male in particular LOVES it. He will literally sit in front of the basket where I keep our grooming tools and ask to be brushed.

We own one that's a former show cat, and I agree she's lovely (but we didn't realize how much work keeping her fur in good condition could be, especially due to her not liking being brushed/de-tangled)
@@Vagajammer My two ended up having Very different coats. The tabby feels denser but doesn’t shed much and rarely needs a brush. Just in Spring mostly. The black drastically changes with the seasons, gets a thick grey tipped winter coat that drops in early spring and needs daily brushing. I had a white Norwegian Forest Cat that was about the best cat ever--14 lbs of fur, muscle and attitude. His show career was cut short because he fought so hard while getting his show baths (they tried sedation; one time he took longer to wake up than usual and she really did think she'd killed him) that I think they just gave up. So, at about the age of 10 he developed a stud tail despite being a near-lifelong neuter, no odor but we decided that that ugly, almost tarry dark brown stain was going to require professional attention. We already had found a groomer that our Somali, the nationally ranked retired show cat, really liked ("That's the only time a cat has EVER snuggled up against me while getting their claws trimmed""Well, he is unique") so we decided to take Snow and his big Wegie double coat to that groomer. "He only scratched me once", which was good to hear, seeing that their claws and front ends are so powerful they can climb down trees headfirst. Stain was 95% gone, too.
Buddy is way too sweet. Maine Coons have a soft spot in my heart, so I'm so happy to see such a handsome lad get all cleaned up. He was so well-behaved!!
We had a MC/babydoll mix....massive but pretty chill. A friend had 2 MC and 2 huge dogs. The MC's would back the Doberman or Rottweiler into a corner and just sit quietly and STARE at them. My friend would have to rescue her dogs from the cats' attitude games.
I had a Maine coon mix years ago, I got him by luck someone had dropped him off side of the road that didn't get huge at of traffic. I pulled over to check on the items in the back of the truck all of a sudden here comes this kitten running out of the woods just a meowing. He was about 4 months old surprisingly in good shape but was covered in fleas to a point he looked like he had a mask on around his eyes. So I brought him home got him a flea dip/bath, slept for several hours. Once fully grown he weighed 24 pounds, lived to be 18 years old.
The long meow at the beginning of this video brought my Norwegian Forest cat flying in from another room looking for the intruder! She's still looking out the window....I'll have to play it again :)
You can close the end of the liquid treat tube by folding it over and using a clothes pin/peg or a paper clip. It will hold the end closed so the contents don't leak out and are kept fresh.

Agreed! Clients are getting the full bundle for their fees here - not just a good groomer but a knowledgeable one, AND somebody who puts in a heck of a lot of effort to keep her salon clean and sanitary for clients! I'm certain there are a lot of other good groomers like this out there too - hope their clients appreciate them, but sadly suspect they probably have to fight a lot of battles over billing.. ? 😒
Sweet Buddy looks a bit like a Lynx! He was much sweeter than my Maine Coon boys in his bath! We stopped trying that after late kittenhood because we like being alive haha!
You have so much heart. Every animal that walks through your door. is scared. You treat every single one with kindness, patience and professionalism. God bless you darling. I love you. .
HE is so adorable and I came back to watch this again, so I could enjoy it, and now finally be able to sit down and watch the kitten video!
That “hello” in the beginning was hysterical❣️
What a beautiful cat! Can't wait to see his kittens next week!
0:50 is me every winter
What a beautiful boy
Omg. Those ears!
Beautiful!! I have had three Maine Coone’s. They are wonderful dog like cats. Miss them so much: Dallas, O’Mally and Elliemae.
I am certainly staying tuned in for next weeks kittens
I just love that beautiful creature . We have a mostly Maine Coon cat ,and everything he does is wonderful. Loads of personality ,incredible athleticism, and very decorative to top it off . You manage those famously grooming- shy cats that come into your care like a magician. Anyone that can bathe a cat has my admiration.
That's one big kitty!
Your narrations nourish me. 😅😂
Buddy is beauty and I can't wait to see the babies next week.
Ughhhh I want a maine coon 😭😭 they're so damn CUTEEE! AND YOU GET TO GROOM THE KITTENS!?! 😭😭❤️❤️ my heart is not ready
You better hope that you can handle one.
@@ashleyr6809 I've been working with animals for four years, I can handle one. Or 2 👀😍
Aww! What a gorgeous kitty! That big, sorrowful meow at the beginning just melted my heart! ❤
He actually sounds like he's saying "help!".

Oh, Main Coon cats must be my favourite. Buddy is soooo gorgeous and the typical tufts on the ears and that typical muzzle is just handomeness pure!
