Bought the pink js400 at the bham guitar show last month, lovely neck, doesn’t stay in tune at all though. So bought some locking tuners, a graphtech nut and string tree and a gotoh trem. Ive wanted a project guitar for a while and this is perfect for it. Its goin for a set up and the parts fitted on Tuesday
These are really nice, checked at local store and I liked it better than most Squiers, finish was good and the tone just fit for a strat - to my ear better than HB strats,...but here it also costs more... I really look forward to the new HB strat line that might be fun too. Thanks for quick review. The HSS start in the end will get you through anything right, but I noticed your love for Chapmans lately too;-)
Seems alright. I regard most sub-two hundred quid electric guitars as things which I'll need to tart up a bit to bring them up to speed and this one appears no different in that regard although in its favour is the colour of the neck and body, which is better than a lot of other Strat clone offerings. To make them really usable you have to finish the frets off nicely yourself and stick better tuners on them (which is of course why they are the price they are), so whilst doing that remedial work, it's no big deal to lose the logo and even re-profile the headstock shape a bit if it's not to your taste. Quick squirt of rattle can varnish after that, and Bob's your uncle. The base platform is all there, as it needs to be of course because there's no shortage of basic modding platform Strat clones out there for that kind of money.
Would be quite easy to reshape the headstock to the original Fender Strat shape and then just stain or roast that bare wood to look same as the rest of the roasted neck. Cheap heat guns come at about the same price as a can of stain.
I'm waiting for one of these to be delivered today. I've two other jet guitars the j-300 (changed the pickups to tex mex specials) and the j350 tele which I didnt change as the pups are good. I'm going to upgrade this one with decent alnico pups and put in a proper wiring system. These guitars have great necks and bodies and are brilliant as upgrade projects.
Hello! I'm thinking about buying my first guitar and I'm indecisive between the Jet JS400 or the Harley Benton ST-Modern HSS. Do you have a favorite? Which do you recommend? Thanks!
That’s a tough one! They’re both great guitars. The ST Modern edges it for me but they’re both a good choice. The HB is on a very long wait though as they’re out of stock so maybe get the Jet. Keep me posted and good luck on your journey
Hello! I'm passing by to say that I've picked the pink Jet JS400. Thank you very much for the help and your videos 😄. The guitar will be delivered tomorrow, I can't wait to play it 🥹.
That's all the strat you need my friend. A great stratty strat foe little money.... Just like you like it 🙂 The bridge is even better than on a Squier CV.... Lube the nut, and it will be fine.
I've also had Squier and Harley Benton guitars but I've yet to try a Jet. The thing is that not all guitars (of any brand) are born equal, to my ears anyhow. Most of them need tweaking, but there's always that one lucky gem that stands out, regardless of price.
I just got there telecaster. Seriously, its better than most mid range squires, for half the cost. This thing absolutely shines with my marshall code 50. It sounded better than the $600 G&L telecaster I tried first. Its definitely a great first guitar, or even a guitar just for cheap just to play with.
I had exactly the same gripes around the logo and headstock! Ended up getting the shell pink version and played lovely out of the box - seems like this one might need a bit of work!
ive got one of these its a keeper . its better than other more expensive guitars . another gem is the jet t 300 . the best jet ive got is the jet t 350 (i think) with humbucker . they seem to hold there own against more expensive guitars :)
I bagged one of these with full set up string change etc for 180 quid from a local guitar store and delighted it’s a very decent guitar .would rather go down the route of spending another 30 or 40 quid to get a guitar that’s set up properly and I’ve checked than the hb route. You can get lucky but equally it seems that many often have to take them to guitar techs pay 100 or so for a set up for me it’s not worth the hassle on a cheap guitar and don’t really want to take the chance of getting a dud that would lie at the bottom of a cupboard
Hi Rich 👍🏻 These Jet guitars are excellent value for money and they are getting very popular. I think it sounds superb, especially the bridge! I also like the colour. If it is just the Logo you don’t like, don’t let that put you off the whole guitar. I would definitely remove it and put my own stamp on it. These guitars are real workhorses and you will get years out of it if you wish to 👍🏻
Hello Spain 🇪🇸!! Thank you for tuning in 👍🏻 If you have the extra money go for the Sire. Better tuners, nicer neck but they’re both great guitars. Let me know what you decide
To be honest I like the Jet headstock more than the HB headstock. The logo sucks indeed but so does the HB logo. I always sand it off and put on a logo of my own 😂
Yeeeahhs!! 🥳 So glad you're trying one out mate 😀👍 The "white" is a weird shade eh? I had this exact one and still have the equivalent Fazley Phynica in the same colour. I hope the fret ends improve for you. 😬🤞 A wee polish of the frets and some decent strings and you're away! 😀
Very impressed with these jet guitars. That’s a lovely colour you got there
Thank you 🙏
This exactly the kind of review i wanted to see. Someone with previous experience and knowledge from having used different brands of stratocaster.
Aww thank you 🙏

Like the sound of that after the mods 👍🏻

Got 2. Really nice guitars. Especially when you consider the price - amazing
Can’t be beat for price for sure

They sure are good and agreed they’re better than done HBs.
I do like a Chapman that’s for sure 👌🏻

Wise words as always ☺️.
It’s certainly one of the better cheap clones

That’s absolutely true. The second TE-52 I owned was brilliant and I stupidly sold it 🙈

Thank you Peter. It puts Fender to shame with their prices these days at £650 for a Mexican Strat!!
I agree mate 👍
Good afternoon from Spain!!!! I need help for my first guitar..... Jet js 400 or Sire s3?

Sure is 👍🏻
Just ordered 1 myself to learn on as got it at a good price rich
Perfect! Keep me posted on your progress 👍🏻
Hi Rich! How would you describe the neck profile? I have Harley Benton TE-20 which has very comfy fuller C profile. How does this one compare?
Hi David
This is a slim C. Not shreddy but not chunky. With the rolled edges too it’s an absolute dream
@@thenovicenoisemaker I got Dean Vendetta with slim C profile neck and unfortunately it's not very comfortable for my large-ish hands 😢

Nice review Rich. I did look at these before seeing your Sire S3 review and bought one of those, how do you think the two compare ?
The Sire has a better neck, fret work and better tuners. Pickups about honours even. You’ve made the right choice 🤗
Thanks Rich, I did wonder.
what wireless are you using? tia ;)
It’s a Lexato. I forget the model now but they were about £35. Been brilliant, no latency and lasts about 8 hours between charging
oooh nice....whats the name of that colour? I've not seen that colour before?
Something white 😬😂
How you doing?
Hey Rich now that sounds pretty good 👍🎸🎸
Thank you Mala 👍🏻
Good review
