squeezing the plant material can lead to moisture in the oil and cause it to go rancid. what I do is letting it leak out and then squeeze the last drops into a different jar that I use first and keep in the fridge

Thank you so much! Me and my husband were floored at how well some Arnica gel we bought worked for both of us. Bruises to back pain, Arnica relieves like nothing else! I've just recently begun to seriously work on my "garden", inside and out. I'm stocked up on all kinds of seeds for medicines and food and can't wait till Spring!
One plant we couldn't wait for and I started inside was Arnica. It seems very happy in a fabric pot, under a grow lamp and is blooming beautifully, as well as sending up new shoots everywhere! This will be my first time making our own medicine from Arnica, so thanks again for sharing!
    Blessings to you and yours!

I keep an eye on my oil daily to check for fogginess. I had one jar that got foggy so I unlidded it and covered the opening with cheese cloth so the moisture could evaporate. The oil cleared within a couple days.

Wow love this channel. I’m an aromatherapist and love the smell of the natural oils and am researching natural remedies so I can make my own at home. I already have a recipe for a yummy tonic that we all drink, even the toddler likes it and (touch wood) no one has been ill since I started making it. So gonna try my hand at making some first aid balms and ointments. My husband already swears by comfrey for his aching shoulders so I might have to mix it up a bit with some arnica too. He’s a gardener/landscaper so will have to pester him for some in the garden as well as calendula. Ooh getting excited about making my own oils!!

Thanks I have 5 1/2 gallon jars of different types or arnica going now that will be ready mid September. I thought I would try rose oil too. Let the flowers sit a bit like you said, then put them in a jar started adding the oil and when it was close to the top saw a big spider moving around in there 😳 after calming down a second later rescued her and returned her to the rose bush.
Thanks for all your amazing videos we have tried so many news things we’re big fans!

If you have heard of icy hot or similar product then Arnica may be for you. Those formally mentioned products have never helped me and I have tried them all for my fibromyalgia (sp?) Pain. Then someone mentioned Arnica gel. I ordered it on Amazon and it was AMAZING! Of course it did not completely remove my pain but it has been the only over the counter product to help in any way. Until this video I had no idea it could be made at home. Thank you SO much for sharing!
FYI: I forgot one of the best parts. No strong smell like those other over the counter products available.

Excellent information...though I want to stress that this herb has anticoagulant properties. If you're already on blood thinners, this can drastically exaggerate the effects of those drugs. Also, check with your OB before using during pregnancy.

Oh that’s no good. I was going to use it on my father in laws broken arm. However he is on blood thinners - hence the extensive bruising that has moved down his arm over a few days. How does that work? It is supposed to help bruising so I thought it would have a coagulant to stop the bleeding.

Hi Ms Thomas, good video. Thx for sharing, and I have subscibed. FYI -- in the Chinese 5 Elements, the arnica plant carries a Fire vibration, and is best suited to overpowering, or weakening Metal vibration ailments and pests. Mnemonic: Fire melts Metal. Arnica tincture is great for killing athlete's foot, a Metal pest. Arnica oil is great for applying topically for people who have a low % of Fire vibration in their natural body chemistry. For people who have a high % of Fire in their natural body chemistry, birch essential oil (Water vibration; Water extinguishes Fire) is much better to use, esp for sore muscles in the back or neck. Try it out and you will be amazed!! ❤

Carolyn, I live in southern Idaho in the treasure valley area and have probably missed the harvesting of the arnica flowers. If I were to order on line which brand and how many to make a quart jar of arnica oil would I need to buy? TIA BTW, I am learning bunches of great information about processing my garden and herbs from your channel. I'm a little late to the drying and canning process as I just turned 69, but you're never to late to change and learn new skills to help your family. Thanks again.

Hi there - thank you so much for this tutorial! I wanted to ask- how do you store your arnica oil afterwards? I was considering freezing it...but not sure if that will affect the potency? And otherwise just in the fridge?

    • @plante_n_seeds4505

Sherise, I would say you could store it like any other oil you have. If you keep it in a cool, dark place it should be fine. I've never tried freezing an oil, so not sure how that would work.

    • @nutequest

Yes but leave in the sun for 3 weeks. The THC needs to cook out. Use the leaves. You can use the hemp seed oil as the carrier oil, in place of olive oil. That will give you GLA and more Endo cannabinoid.

I grow it here in Australia. You can pull them up and plant the root like comfrey, yarrow, herbs like that. Keep the root moist in transfer. It needs water but will come back each spring just fine. It can also be grown from seed. Will pretty much grow in any soil that drains well and doesn’t require any fertility treatment just water.
