I'd always this Special Stage music the most.I would never get angry when I failed getting an emerald. Heck, before I learned about mp3 and just for fun, I would just play around inside one the of the 7 stages (Six in the GBA version) and try and get every ring to kill time and have the song linger around more. Regardless, he stayed the course, and proceeded to pursue his powerful prize. Although, he couldn't get his head around this new world. Was it an extra plane of reality that the Emerald made to protect itself from Dr Robotnik? Or was it the edge of the universe, where logic just goes completely nuts? "Maybe," Sonic wondered, "This is the realm of the gods... Yeah! Didn't they make the Emeralds in the first place?" Existentialism aside, he navigated this strange maze of bumpers and tiles, and, with some trial and error, nabbed the Chaos Emerald. "Way past cool!" Sonic cheered, "5 to go!" Before he could say anything else, however, everything turned back to white, and... poof! He was back in Green Hill Zone where he belonged. Sonic sat on the grass for a moment in silence, taking in what just happened. He felt as if the grace of the gods had just touched his soul; they knew he could beat the upcoming robotic empire. After a minute or two, he got back on his feet, and carried on. But from that moment, his life had changed forever.
