Haha, I’m a 17 year old working on this car as well. After my grandfather left it to our family I want to make sure it’s in good condition. Thanks for the video!

Thanks for posting this, Ross--- it's helpful, and especially impressive is your grandson's focus and managing the process, which is challenging and hardly intuitive. I encourage you to develop this one into a series, starring Nick, with your narrative and help, as many of us are older folks who need to pass on these wonderful cars to appreciative young people. Lord knows, taking your Allante to a repair shop is something to avoid if you can, and now that these cars are over 3 decades old, replacing flexible brake lines, fan modules, and brake accumulator parts are simply expected pieces that need servicing (not to mention the Bose amplifier/speakers).

Nick and I will be doing a number of videos for as long as the weather permits. Yesterday we did injectors and a tune up on the 92. Brake hoses are on order and will be the next video. We have to get the young people interested in these cars and train them or they will surely disappear in the future.

Pretty much the same for the 93 only difference is the door lock rods are not present.

It looks like the door you are opening is actually a 1993 Allante

Thanks for this video. I just saved an 89 and it needs a ton of love. Here is the video. ua-cam.com/video/Q29RrTiUFBM/v-deo.html Do you know anything about the convertible top? The top has been down for over 8 years and the car was put off the road for 5 and it was covered up but very badly as you can see in the video. I cant get the pull to release the hard cover, the electric switch behind the drivers seat does not work. Could that be the reason?

The switch you mention only raises and lowers the rear pull-down motor. I'll make you a short video showing where you're going to have to drill a hole to get the cover open. I assume the release cable just pulls with no resistance.
