Speed Racer's psychopathic tendencies did carry over. He blew up those two cars to make a dramatic finish. If not for the safety system, he would've killed two people for fun.
In his defense, if I am reading the situation right, those two were hired Specifically to knock out any racer not approved of by their employer, targeting them and doing that pinball thing to have them skid out and/or be destroyed. He did to them, literally what they did to other drivers. Classic case of 'live by the sword, die by the sword'.
Well, yea, why do you think the safety systems are there? I can't think of a single race in the movie that doesn't have multiple cars getting blown up.
@bigchungus6827 they made it pg for bigger audience draw, og speed racer was like "thar random dude just try to shotgun my face, and although I'm just an 18 year old with an ascot. I'm going make this mine go off to cause an avalanche and kill the 17 people in pace behind me. That'll show em."

3:05. Spinning flip as Pops stops timing and starts just watching is the best for me. Speed is flat out showing the crowd and his family that nothing is going to stop him.
So, I have this habit of listening to eurobeat while playing racing games. Yesterday, I was playing some GTA Online races with rocket voltics (the small car with a big thruster engine on the back) with my friends and some randoms. This race had a twist though: every 60 seconds, the last place would explode, until there was no one but the first place. I was at the final lap, and there were 3 racers still alive, me being the third place. That's when this exact song kicked in my playlist. Knowing that my demise was getting close, I kept racing for my life, enjoying the moment and doing my best while listening to this song. When I was 3 seconds apart from the explosion, the bomb alarm beeping nervously in my ears, I slipstreamed behind the 2nd place, and got into a tunnel in which the car can run on the walls and use the momentum generated by the gravity to increase its speed. In this process, I was able to overtake both the 2nd and 1st places at once (they were pretty close to each other). As a result, the 3rd place got blown up before even realizing what had happened, and the now 2nd place, probably startled by the explosion, ended up losing some precious seconds on that section of the track. In the end, I triumphed, "coming up from the bottom, and into the top" like a racing shounen character. Long story short, I can guarantee: Eurobeat DOES make you go faster.
My friend: *drum&bass and metal is best for racing* Another friend: *no,trance, edm is best* Me: *"eurobeat plays in distance" fools* Edit: grey-pink rx-7 is better than that one m3 gtr,lol

Honestly this scene is what solidified the idea of "Moments" for me. Y'know those moments when everything is on the line, and you just do everything perfectly? A moment like that is one where you can't fail, where the stars align and everything just goes so perfectly it might as well be from an anime.
Why doesnt anybody mention how absolutely perfect this song fit the movie, the lyrics are basically the plot of both the movie AND the race, the liyrics even SYNC UP with what is happening on screen
Enhance your copy of the movie by editing this scene like this but better by isolating the flashback dialogue from their original scenes and other sound effects from this segment, then silencing the whole thing and studying sound engineering before putting the puzzle pieces back together with the enhanced soundtrack. That's how I'd do it.
This movie is an excellent example of sincerity making a great movie. The movie knows EXACTLY what it needs to be and the producers didn't shy from it.

Probably the only thing I dislike about this scene... or even the whole movie. What is the point of Sparky's job if Speed is better able to figure it out on his own? This didn't even seem NECESSARY.
i've read somewhere that what Speed did was technically the equivalent of a defribilator reanimating someone. And Rex said that a car are "alive being". So Speed reanimated his ride and gave it a shot of adrenaline.
He clutch kick shifted it to a higher gear and gassed it before it could stall out. So yeah, it's a pretty good comparison to say he shot a syringe of adrenaline straight to its heart and hit it with a defib

And this might make Speed's feats in this final act even more impressive, hell, he was basically in the same state of mind that Senna had when racing around Monaco, but times anime. @@o_sagui6583 Yes, no simple person would be able to do this, any computer would tell you it's impossible and pretty red warnings lights would probably kick in and stop you but screw logic this is Speed Racer where cars jump in mid air, drift on walls and rocks, even allows a monkey and a kid in the trunk.
Xaffire009 honestly even if the jump feet they use could work with enough force to launch the car and make it jump like that, it would be a serious gamble as the air is basically like water at those speeds, so any jump that he did unless he had some kind of jets assisting the areal control could easily end up in him flying off the track as if throwing a underwater torpedo toy ... that being said this is still awesome as all hell and it feels like I have wings of fire this is so hype.

Xaffire009 honestly even if the jump feet they use could work with enough force to launch the car and make it jump like that, it would be a serious gamble as the air is basically like water at those speeds, so any jump that he did unless he had some kind of jets assisting the areal control could easily end up in him flying off the track as if throwing a underwater torpedo toy
