  • In this video you can learn how to make your own Peplum Top / Shirt.
    Pause at the pattern shape images and calculate your measurements.
    (s.a. = seam allowance, symbol : means divide by)
    a = the width you want for your neckline - s.a. (I made my 22.5 cm wide)
    b = the distance from one shoulder to another (after step 1 try the top on and alter neckline and armholes to your liking)
    c = (your under armpit body girth) : 2 + s.a.
    d = (your breast girth) : 2 + s.a.
    e = (under your breast girth) : 2 + s.a.
    f = (your waist girth) : 2 + s.a.
    Make sure you add enough s.a. - you can always cut it smaller if it turns out too big but you can᾿t make it bigger if it turns out too small.
    Vertical measurements depend on your height - you need to determine it by yourself.
    g = (your waist girth : 2π) - 1 cm
    (if you are not sure if you have calculated your g measurement correctly you can write your waist girth (in cm) in the comments and I will calculate it for you)
    h = the length of bottom part (peplum part) you want + s.a. (my h is 23 cm)

    Thanks for your video :) My waist is 70 cm..what is my g?
    And how much material do I need if my fabric is 110 cm wide? :)

    • @sew_wear
      @sew_wear  4 місяці тому

      Karla, thank you for your comment. :) Your "g" measurement should be 10 cm. For a 110 cm wide fabric, length of 120 cm should be enough (cut the two pieces for the top side by side and peplum out of the rest of the fabric). Have a lovely creative day ;)

    Just for clarification, is this for stretch fabric or for woven fabric? I am thinking stretch.

      Hi Cassandra,
      you are right, it is for stretch fabric. Otherwise you will not be able to dress and undress. Have a lovely day :)

    I am so going to try this out. You explained it so easy, thank you. 1 question: do you use mostly a zig-zag stitch? Thank you.

      Thank you for your comment Andrea! Mostly I used straight stitch secured with a zig zag stitch however for hemming I used only zig zag stitch. Have a lovely creative day :)

    hey thx this helped so much
    i just have a few questions
    1) my waist is 69, what is my g?
    2) how much material do you think i’ll need?

    • @sew_wear
      @sew_wear  3 роки тому

      Thank you for your questions Talia!
      1.) Your g should be 10 cm.
      2.) 1 meter of (150 cm wide) fabric should be more than enough for you.
      Let me know if you have any other questions :)

    Thank you for this tutorial! Very easy to follow. May I ask, why does the peplum part need the extra red fabric behind it?

    • @sew_wear
      @sew_wear  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you for your comment! I decided to line the peplum, beacause you can see a little bit of the inside side of the fabric when wearing it due to it᾿s circle shape. Also it is harder to hem it (when not lined) due to the same reason. If you have any more questions let me know :)

    How do u measure the peplum?? Whats the calculation if waist is 34

    • @sew_wear
      @sew_wear  3 роки тому

      Hey :)
      The g measurement (time stamp: 8:15) for your waist is 5 inches (assuming that the measurement you wrote is the girth of your waist in inches). The h measurement depends on the length of the peplum you want, regardless of your waist measuremnet. If you would like the same length that is my peplum; my h measurement is 9 inches. Let me know if you have any other questions :)

    Hi, tysm 😍 may I know what is the fabric type u using?

    • @sew_wear
      @sew_wear  3 роки тому

      Thank you for your question! The floral fabric is 95% cotton 5% elastane and the lining for peplum is 92% viscose 8% elastane however I used different type of fabric for the lining solely because I had it at hand, I suggest you use the same type of fabric for shirt and peplum lining to prevent that one the fabric shrinks more during washes than the other :)

    How do you calculate the girth?

    • @sew_wear
      @sew_wear  3 роки тому

      Hey :) You measure the girth - it is the circumference of a particular part of your body.
