After six months of discomfort, I have one question? Has any doctor performing Urolift actually felt a tie in his own prostrate? IT HURTS LIKE HELL, PISSING RAZORS AND SHITTING LEMONS!!!

urolift is useless if you have median lobe problems also you can get calcification of the staples. I have just undergone a standard turp which although painful did the trick. I went from total dependence on self-catheterization to fully independent re urination without incontinence within 24 hours. Someone else having a turp was in the same ward. Hed had a urolofit and had to have a turp in the en because of calcification and other complications. So you see its not the panacea its made out to be.

I was in the same boat. I got to the point of having to do intermittent self-catheterization. I had turp and spent one night in the hospital. A game changer. I haven't urinated so well in 30 years, I should have done it 20 years ago. I think my prostrate was too large for eurolift to work. I also have heard it was pretty painful. The TURP really was not. I do have retro grade ejaculation, but then I got a vasectomy 33 years ago, other than that it did NOT affect my sexual function.

There's also no risk of strictures with UROLIFT... I won't risk suffering with the complications from strictures that could come from TURP/HoLEP. The data I've seen suggests that UROLIFT is not as effective as TURP but it's much less invasive and avoids the risk of strictures.

I am very sceptical about success of REZUM and Utility. I had REZUM over 4 years ago and now totally lost its effort. I shall have TURP to fix the problem forever

Don't do it, TURP is the worse and painful procedure they can perform in urology and it's don't work, I went through that procedure at 42 yrs old, and they mutilated me for nothing, I'm still piing a lot, day and night and after I fished piing, as soon as I take 10 steps, I start dripping , I wet my underwear, no more that 8 or 10 drops, enough to wet my Hanes and make feel very uncomfortable, I use Flomax (Tamsulosin 4mg) some day it's help. Good luck. RFR

I had the urolift three days ago, 80 gram prostrate, 70 years old, tried to pharmaceuticals first. At the office I filled out the forms and paid the extra for nitrous oxide sedation. In the proceedure room for I took off my pants and lay back on the table, catheter administered lidocaine to my bladder, waited a while, started to suck on the hose, I was still fully conscious, I heard the clicks and felt the probe, I knew which side and when, as they put in 4 staples!!!! I urinated as soon as I stood up, after the procedure no blood. I didn't have a catheter and walked out straight. As soon as I started the car, I ran to a toilet and mostly bled and it stung like hell!
I Drove an hour home, some urgent urination with some blood, put on a diaper.
The next morning I felt fine except for the urgent need to urinate, went to the park with the grandmonsters, and pushed the wife around in her wheelchair. I think I over did it.
I didn't go to water aerobics on the third day as I didn't want a big orange plume if it became too urgent where I was taking phenazopyridine.
Overall it was better than my friends who had other proceedures, I don't have a catheter, and ejaculation still works!
It was uncomfortable, but not as bad as the alternatives.

@tomsantella5538 Have you had the Urolift yet? I've talked with a urologist who no longer does the procedure because he had thought it would be right for his problems, he is on the low dose of Cialis now, and he says that it allows him to work and keep his pants dry.

UROLIFT PROCEDURE completely PERMANTELY destroyed my life. Healed wrong with scar tissue and the " urethra flaps " healing together ?? That's what the urologist said. My new urologist says he can fix it with laser surgery BUT BUT BUT I would have to self catherize DAILY for the rest of my life or the scar tissue will most likely return.

I too had the Urolift and less than 2 years later had to have the TURP after going into retention. That was four weeks ago. My recovery has been slow still passing blood and clots. The drill going through the prostate had to contend with the 'clips' that had been put in place during the Urolift. My surgeon described it as Star Wars! TURP is considered 'the gold standard'. Knowing what I know now I wish I had gone straight to the TURP procedure and not bothered with the Urolift. As with everything in life you do the research, make the decision and live with the consequence. Looking at the remarks here I am not alone in the scepticism of Urolift.

after 3,4,5 years the prostrate overcomes the Urolift effectiveness can it be removed or replaced ?

    • @dl4511
      @dl4511 5 років тому

I had this done and my doctor said that most of the implant can be removed. They cant replace the anchor that is placed on the outside of the prostate. This procedure doesnt preclude more aggressive treatments later on but whether the urolift can be performed again would depend on how large the prostate has grown and which lobe is causing compression of the urethra.

I had this procedure done a couple days ago. 24 hours later, I was rushed into the ER because I have complete blockage. They drained 2000ml out of me. I thought I was going to die the pain was so bad. Do not believe them when they say you won't need to be catheterized...The Urolift manipulates the prostate and that causes swelling. The swelling can block the bladder completely. That's what happened to me OR SO THEY SAY. Who knows? They could have botched the implant. I'll wait til' Monday to see the Urologist's excuse for this so called simple non-invasive procedure.I'm scared when the catheter is removed , It will be blocked again. If I had to do this again, I WOULD NOT.

The same thing happened to me after I did TURP. Complete blockage and the pain was unbearable.i was rushed to hospital and they had to pull out lots of blood clots.
Make sure you have a catheter for a while after doing Turp, but now I'm slowly improving.
Hope no one goes through this kind of pain.

3 years later what is the landscape now. Time always tells whether one procedure works or not. I had heard that urolift only works on smaller prostates less than size of 80. Plus the level of flow is not as dramatic as other more invasive procedures over a long term
