- This new information not only suggests, but CONFIRMS THE RUMOURS!
G'day I'm Kwackajack and welcome to another video, today we have some hot goss on the much rumoured upcoming Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R SuperSport motorcycle. With rumours having been around since the announcement of the smaller, Asia exclusive ZX-25R, we finally have concrete proof that the world will be seeing a larger ZX-4R!
Not only that, but we have confirmation that it will be coming to western markets like the US aswell!
Are you excited for a 400CC high revving SuperSport motorcycle from Kawasaki?
Because I am!

I got a feeling that the ZX-4R is gonna be a great bike!!!
You reckon ? 😂😂 *#Masterpiece*
It is 70hp is great and it’s 400cc so insurance shouldn’t be crazy
Me too
Yes definitely interested. I've been waiting for Yamaha's R9, but looks to be delayed past 2024, the R7 seems a little gimmicky, I Know Kawa's always deliver and the XZ 400 looks to be a great fun bike at a reasonable price point. I will buy it if it is as advertised.
I think it'll be a nice balance for having more power than the ninja 400, the amazing sound of an inline 4, and without having too much power like a 600cc or 1000cc.
100% with you here, I'm on 48hp atm where this is enough in every way I really want a nicer sound characteristic and maybe abit more punch. Whilst at the same time not needing 70-90+hp
@@Daniel-dj7fh the zx4r will have 70 or more hp since the zx2r has 50hp
@@lochie777 prehaps, but prehaps also not if they have to limit the emissions to fit euro5 🙏🏽
Their Ninja 650 (2cylinders)is what competes with the R7 and RS660. This Zx4r will be in a class of it's own.
I’m definitely interested in the Zx4r. Still keeping my ninja 400. I heard some rumors of a redesign for the zx6r as well. Such a great time to be a Kawasaki fan boi💯 It’s worth the wait for an upgrade. Wish we all had a little more information about the release. Either way we know it is coming! Great video coverage 👌🏼
I was seriously thinking about getting a new ninja 400 but now that I saw this I think im going to wait and get the zx4r I feel like itd be an even better first bike , a little bit more power plus the sound of a 600 basically 🥴 that sound like a bike I'd love to keep for a long time and learn to push it to its limits and become a good rider on.. seems like the perfect choice I honestly think..
So keen!! I like the new styling designs aswell. Great vid
Love the 4 cylinder high rpm engine, wish they put the engine on different style bike aswell
If they bring this out in the UK I am in!
Perfect bike for UK roads so they should!
I really hope the pricing on these is decent. I’m going to do whatever it takes to get one as soon as they’re released
Similar. I'm making plans to attend AIMExpo 2023 in February to see a zx4r in person before I purchase. Last time I attended they had bikes I could ride.
they'll probably be around the same price as the 25R. $7k. if thats the case i'm selling my R3 and buying one
If the 4R will have 80 or more HP and will weigh in close to the Ninja 400, that will definitely deal a great blow on the R7. If however the 4R can make close to 100HP, it will rattle the RS660's nest and maybe also shake the Trident 660.
Moreover, if the 4R will cost less than the R7, it will definitely dominate the mid-power/mid-displacement class.
The Ninja 400 here in my country can cost you close to 6,000 USD. If the ZX4R comes in with a door price of less than 6,500 USD, that will be a steal for inline 4 die-hard fans. The only reasonable scenario where I see the 4R tagging in at 7,000 USD would have be if it has FULLY adjustable front and rear suspension with ABS and TC that can be switched off for track days.
I'm guessing it's gonna have closer to 65-70hp and 30-35lbs of tourqe. Reason why I think this is because its ment to be a beginner bike for countries that limit cc based on license etc
@@Alexsignal90 I will agree on those numbers and I just hope Kawasaki does not get greedy just because it is an inline 4 and will price it more than the R7. The R7 can make close to 70hp and is tagging a door price of 8,000 USD thereabouts. This ZX4R should not be more than 6,500 USD ready to ride.
@@ManCannotRide R7 is $8999 USD
Unfortunately from what I've read, the economics of adding an additional cylinder to a bike is almost same as the creating another single cylinder engine itself. So if a ninja 400 costs 6k USD in your country, it's hard to expect the zx4r with 4 cylinders to be priced below 9k at the very minimum
@@z0rr08 All the motorcycles from the ZX line are made in Japan(better quality) besides this ZX4R which will be made in Indonesia(cheaper labor). Even the Ninja 400 is made in Japan. The ZX4R will be under $8K.
hope it arrives in europe too
Looks like I found my next bike if they bring it to Australia! I wanted to get a ZX-25R after I found out it existed but can’t get one here in Australia. The screaming weenie bikes make so much sense for the road as you can sound like your doing a million miles an hour while your doing the speed limit! I just bought a new Z650 a couple of weeks ago and I think I’ll probably be trading it in on a ZX-4R in a couple of years time if Kwaka ends up selling it in Oz **fingers crossed**.
Yes I would be interested. Looking for a ninja 400 right now but might wait to see what the zx4 is all about
Same, cant wait to drive one
In the same boat. About to buy my first bike but I might wait a bit to see. More time to save and pay cash.
Ended up with a clean low mile 2020 R3 . Zx4 is still interesting though
@@Myrussell67 good choice ill still wait for the new bike but if its not around before my bday ill buy a older one
Kawasaki 'lead don't follow! 👑🔥🔥
Rode the R7. While it would be fun on a tight road, the feel of the motor didn't really match well with the supersport vibe. I think this 400 will tick the right boxes for a lot of riders, me included. I'm stoked the HP is supposed to be like 77-80 not 60-65. 80hp Is just about canyon perfection, reckon. I WILL own one of these eventually.
Excited for its release I hope you will ride it and review it.
I just found out about the ZX-4R coming out. Was gonna get a N400, but might get that instead. My only thing is. I don't have my M yet, haven't even taken the M1 test (Canada). So I was gonna wait until I was 25 to get the bike (Will be 24 in 2 months). So if they continue the ZX-4R, I might get the next year model of it. As this years model, people can give feedback and if there are problems, Kawasaki can fix them, or at least try to fix them with the next model.
I have a lovely 2020 Zx6r and the Kawai 600 has always been my dream bike. Now that I have one I wanted a 3rd bike. Third because I still have my ninja 300 that I picked up used with only 89 miles. Now that I know the ZX4r is legitimately coming I have a buddy whose been wanting my 300 and now I have a possible replacement.
Probably limited production run, AKA you're not getting one unless you're connected. I expect dealers will really bend you over for one.
Any news on the ZX4R coming to the UK? 🇬🇧
🤞🏽
Going to be an awesome superbike. Yes.
I think so too!
I've owned a 2007 650r for ten years and it's been running like a clock ⏰ my first bike was a 2004 ninja 250r and sold it to buy the 650r
Can't wait till mine comes in , in Feb/March 😁🙂
if they sell a blue green white scheme on those I'll buy one instantly
I would love to get my hands on one of these. The bike looks amazing.
I'm expecting a $15k plus price in Australia for this bike. The people that can afford it won't want it and those that want it won't be able to afford it.
Will it be LAMS approved?
I wouldn’t assume it will have the old design language based on that alone. The 2023 ZX-25R is likely going to get a facelift with ZX-10D inspiration too.
Interesting, but I'm not sure if Kawasaki would update the zx25 so soon with only having released it in 2020. I expect an updated Ninja 400 & ZX6R in 2023 as both of those haven't seen a real update since 2018
@@Kwackajack I remember when the ZX-6R was getting a facelift every year or two… like the ‘05/‘06 versus the ‘07/‘08. It seems they update the inline fours at a much faster clip since they are what carry the brand image more than anything else.
@@Kwackajack Also, since the ZX-4R fairing will, no doubt, be compatible, they’d have to continue producing both to deliberately distinguish the two. Maybe they have reason to do that but it seems unlikely to me. This is probably why the 2023 ZX-25R has not been revealed yet even though almost every other 2023 model has. Revealing the 2023 ZX-25R’s new look now would spoil the ZX-4R announcement. ;)
The 2 variants would be the full power version and a restricted LAMS/A2, anything else does not make sense for a bike like this.
4 cylinder 399 will give ktm rc 390 a tough time.
I hope it's a modern incarnation of the original, not a watered down Newbie jobbie.
Or, at least, that K do a version of each - as the codes suggest. And a retro 2 round headlights design - who wouldn't love that!
Hey brother can you bring a vedeo on zx6r full review and top speed from each gear just want to know cause my zx6r is arriving next month too much exiting 😅
So what will be the difference between this and a regular 400 just upgraded suspension and braking and stuff?
from what I've seen and been told, the ZX4R will also include a full-colored TFT screen, upgraded slip clutch, and a slightly wider rear tire
Also nearly double the HP
I would love to get a ZX4r in the UK
When? Daddy want! I will order it on day one once Kow USA says "Go". Aprilia quality sucks so Kow build quality, reliability and a robust dealer network for the Win! See ya' all on the mountain roads!
i doubt they release it this year tbh. But its kinda strange that they have a VIN number for the 2023 model but no release....
Wait till EICA Nov 8 2022
@@UltimateEnd0 I hope.
It's literally the perfect bike.
Wonder if it will be able to be restricted like the Honda 650 for lams market 🤔😁
If it makes under 95hp they'll probably definitely have a way to restrict it for A2.
I really hope this thing comes to the Europe market.
If true is it going be pricey
Less than a zx6r for sure...obviously and little more than a Ninja 650
It better have a NEW Display !!
I assume it'll have the TFT from Kawasaki's latest, like on the Ninja 650
@@Kwackajack I hope or at leaset somethin close to it, the 650 is a more of "higher end " ride so i get it having a better tft but still more digital and bluetooth would be nice
@@jav9888 what is the point of Bluetooth on a bike?
@@ProdicalMan ? not sure what you mean. Im talking about turn by turn navigation on the screen (that Im sure This low end model wont have) or head unit control , View vehicle information and check the status of your vehicle. BMW's now have the navation on the higher ends, Im sure that will trickle down sooner or later but just for Music control would be great
I pray to god that Europe gets this baby
But the EU requires abs anything 125cc or higher.
If this one makes even about 60hp it could pull me away from Honda's cbr650r.
it wont be near 80 to 90- hp. Probabaly 70 - 75 ish. And that's after a pipe and remap. I owned a GSXR400 grey import and with factory Yosh pipes it made 60-65hp
Does it rev up to 16000 it's 4 inline
Smoke a pack r7 and 660 some r6 zx6rr daily.
Will it be Learner approved?
Good question, depends on which route they decide to go down. IF it's a competitor for the R7 I assume they'll bring out a Learner and Non Learner model. But my gut says that it won't be
@@Kwackajack I hope it's not learner approved. An 80hp plus bike with all the electrical goodies the ZX-25 has would be epic. I would be all in on that especially if it has a 16000 rpm or higher redline.
80 to 90 HP no more like 60 to 70 like the one from the early 90's
Will never buy it if it will b less zan 60hp at exaggerated price
I feel the ZX4R is going to be a bike with no direct competition, which is a good thing. It's literally the best way to get a bike that will rev to the moon but be able to enjoy on the street without breaking the speed limit in a split second. You can enjoy the rev out without the penalties like the 600cc bikes. It's the bike I've been waiting for to be honest and so glad it's finally coming! I know I could enjoy a larger 4 cylinder but know it would get annoying to rev up for like two seconds before having to let off. I also feel the premium features the ZX series has to offer will be a nice touch to such a small cc bike (double discs, upside down forks fully adjustable suspension hopefully etc.) I'm more of a fan of shifting a lot and revving high in the RPMs so naturally this is perfect for that.
I'm waiting patiently. I loved my old v4 interceptor 500 back in the day. It was reasonably fast, narrow and nimble. Great canyon fun. It would only go 130mhp though. Looking for fast and something not super expensive.
My z1000r tops out at 140mph, but its quicker than any 1000cc supersport up to that speed
Well thank god. Cause I was soon gonna get a ninja 400. I’ll wait to get this one instead
planning on getting a zx6r for my next bike next season, might get the zx4r if it comes out before, but... nah gotta go for the zx6r !! the powerrr
The ergonomics.
I said the same but went nah I need the zx10r
@@kk-qu1zc and did you need it? Or is it also just half asleep 90% of the time.
@@Daniel-dj7fh I ride it everyday to highschool. Of the last 70 days I have ridden it I have taken it to 200km/h each and every day
@@kk-qu1zc I mean if you have to get on a highway sure, but in the past 6 year of riding I never had to take my bike over 140kmh.
And I'm too lazy to find a bit of the Autobahn here where I can do a vmax. Highway riding is just super boring, and not really good on your ears.
When it comes out, it would definitely be my first bike. And I read on 400s you could go 8+ track days on the tires which is a great money saver and experience gainer as well. Def something worth looking at
This bike is NOT going to be released in the states….. FACT
Edit* Word from Kawasaki is this bike WILL come to the states, but only sold in very few states that have relaxed emissions standards. CA is NOT on the list to receive the bike.
Source? so I can read up on that pls
@@alfredolopez1396 I spoke directly with a supplier. This is what I was told.
@@Barbiecho so did you only ask about CA or do you know of any other states they said?
@@alfredolopez1396 While I was shopping around for a 400. I took the time to ask if the ax-4r was coming to the US. This was a few months ago. I was told that the the bike wouldn’t come to the US because of failed emissions. A follow up conversation revealed that the bike made it passed regulations for a few states. I wasn’t told which ones they would be as I live in CA. I was told CA would not be a recipient of this bike. This information is good as of one week ago.
@@Barbiecho thanks for the info
If it has 70+ HP, I will trade in my beloved z400 for one.
If the ZX25R & ZX4R come to 🇺🇸 I will definitely have to get one!!
I suddenly remembered the ZXR series, starting from ZXR - 250, the ZXR - 400 and the ZXR -750, there's fun for everyone, hope you can make a comparisson of the new ZX-25R against the old but gold ZXR - 250.
if you take all the rumours at face value and believe it in your opinion do you think I would regret buying a Ninja 400 now instead of waiting? im in the market for my first bike and not sure if i should pull the pin on the ninja 400 or wait for the ZX4R or even CFMOTO 450SR
Having a ZX14r. Been thinking about finding another bike, the ZX4r might be the answer.
I’m 100% gunna get one of these when they come out
I just hope they don't price it out of the market.....
This was high quality research very good
My bike will only have an in line 4
How much would it cost?
I'm pleased you are talking about the zx4r I'm very interested in this bike I may get one if it comes to the U K still love my ninja 400 too
My FZR400 makes no sense if you go by the numbers. It's all about fun. I can't wait for the new Ninja!
I care less about what it's "competing" with, and more about how soon I'll be able to purchase it : )
zxr 400 vs a reg 400 what is the difference
zx in-line 4 ninja 400 parallel twin. Zx will have much more power and the sweet note of a 4 cylinder
This is going to sell like hot cakes in Asia because of its 785 mm seat height which is good for 5’4 person.
Will definitely buy one, had been waiting for it. 2 cylinder engines are torqy but boring as hell.
What date should reveal in your country that kind of sports bike?
Hmm.. not sure why you think a ZX4R (a 4 cylinder screamer) is in the same league as R6 and RS660 (a kind of road focused twin cylinder motorcycles)
I think that it could fit into the same 80-90hp range but with a smaller, different engine type. 399CC inline four compared to the 6-700 twins. Would be very interesting because I think people would prefer the smaller inline four
80-90HP from a 400cc road bike??
I doubt it will be as much as 60HP.
It’ll have 70-75HP.. mark it down. It’s 2022 and engines are more efficient. The ZX25r(249.8cc) makes 51HP so adding 20 more horsepower with 150cc’s and 4 cylinders seems very possible.
Likely only be US
I hope if the ZX4R is coming, they are going to go the Ninja 400 and Z400 route and make a naked version for the ZX4R. We don't have the CB400SF in America but a naked ZX4R is close enough for me.
Unlikely as the engine is more race oriented.
