Coristi bene a tempo e ben intonati.
A sublime piece. The tone achieved here is the best I have heard yet in this piece. The men really excel with a deep and rich bass line and a strong tenor section (rare these days). Bravo. Fantastico.
***** Amen. The swell that occurs at around 0:49 is the best-coordinated I've heard in any rendition of this piece. Clear, precise, angelic -- positively raises the hairs on the back of my neck every time!
+Michael Doyle A strong tenor section, it's not rare, we are in Italy, don't forget it ! In my country (Bretagne - french far-west), find the same repartition between tenors and basses is a feat !!
+TatCoz I am sure that is true. I have been in Italy several times and the choral tradition is slowly finding its roots. The Papal choir is dreadful, though. The English choirs are so superior. Not a contest but the English choirs are often singing Italian compositions and it is a shame at that. Lots of historical reasons for this I am sure. Anyway, I loved this performance.
This is so incredibly soothing to my hearing... If I become a billionaire, I will spend my retirement listening to these Palestrina kinda songs daily....best rendition I've ever heard
Ife john you don’t meed to be a millionaire. Look up what “deemix” is. I guess the best rendition I’ve heard is from “coro della radiotelevisione svizzera” directed by Fasolis, check it out!
Sitivit Anima Mea, the secunda pars of Sicut Cervus, is a setting of Psalm 42. This is the Tract sung for the procession to the baptismal font during the Holy Saturday vigil. Here's the text Sitivit anima mea ad Deum fortem vivum: quando veniam et apparebo ante faciem Dei? Fuerunt mihi lacrymae meae panes die ac nocte, dum dicitur mihi quotidie: Ubi est Deus tuus? My soul has thirsted for the living God: When shall I come and appear before the face of my God? My tears have been my bread by day and by night, While it is said to me daily: Where is your God?
You mean lower than the original key right? We brought it up by a semitone, in order to have a more brilliant sound and make it easier for female altos :)
Bravi comunque.
I don't think they are singing it exactly like the 1661 score. Too soft for my taste at some parts. Musicians and conductor are obviously very talented. They can sing exactly what he wants them to and he can make them sing it. I got nothing on the musicians. I would just have done it differently. It's a matter of preference.
The thing with religious music is that it is also a praying and as such the singers and director must feel …. In this case music is good but they are far from transmitting the praying sense ….. too fast indeed

Ife john ah okay. Yeah, that would be amazing!
esecuzione impeccabile
Maravilha!
The closest you will get to a choir of angels in Heaven, a true masterpiece!
Thank you! We really appreciate your kind comment. Our chamber choir loves this piece so much, a true masterpiece indeed!
I've only ever heard the first part of that song before; didn't know that there was more to it.

Lovely
Bravo
The Italians own this.....
Key is lower...and I think brilliant idea..
You mean lower than the original key right?

Really? 76k+ views and 14 uneducated tone deaf thumbs down trolls? Probably kicked out of band/orchestra in 4th grade
