This vehicle brings back memories to me, I passed my driving test in one of these. They were quite basic, the gears were on the column, and the dashboard was sparse to say the least. It had sliding doors, and you could have them open whilst driving, no seat belts fitted, rather dangerous eh! I'd love to drive one again.
Beautiful little van & you did a top job repairing it...I had one of these when I was in Europe way back in 1973-74, bought it in Amsterdam for A$220 & drove it around the Benelux countries & northern Germany before taking it right through Scandinavia to Hammerfest & then down the coast of Norway & on to England where we sold it in London for A$150. Loved my 'Beddy' Bedford Doormobile & still have many fond memories of travelling & living in it...❤️
Sorry to hear about the "work of the Thugs"!! Fortunately, they limited their "handywork" to broken glass only. Kinda fun when you get to provide a bit of "Love" to a sweet old survivor!! This one looks, and sounds, gorgeous !!! Job well done !! Long overdue for a change of fluids. Actually, the vandals did her a favor !!
Hi buddy, yes I think your right, many more miles on the sluge that was in there and who know what may of happened.. thanks for watching, stay save, regards john
Wow ! That's a cracking example . The young lady was very fortunate to have your expert help at hand. So are there specialistist companies out there that can supply your needs ? Thanks !
Thank you, unfortunately there are not many specialists out there so alot of the part I have made or make them myself.. so glad your enjoying the videos, please keep watching, regards john and benj, mwg
I have many happy memories as a child being on holiday in a Red Bedford Dormobile with a red stripy roof in the early 60's, how difficult are they to source and how much could one expect to pay.
It does help when there are no locally easily available missiles to throw by passers by from my experience, especially gravel driveways, don't leave anything outside not extremely secure that can be used to break in the house with. A cover would take any thrill out of doing it because they cannot see the damaged result.
hi great video, dont forget to check the air cleaner. sorry to hear about the vandlelism. its got the same dash board as my Bedford rl had. i think martin walter coach works did these
There are some real low lifes around - though the owner ended up with an improved vehicle at the end of the day. Always have a soft spot for the CA as my dad had a couple and I did my driving practice on them. 3 forward gears - have 6 on my current car!!
Yes it was nice to have the opportunity to work on it,such a nice original van,and I think you can say that it looks like it was never touched.. this one is also a 3 speed.. I'll be sorry to see it go.. Nice bit of eye candy .. thank you for your comment, please keep watching.. regards John
Oh I am sorry! I do have a tripod but it's not always convenient to use it when I'm working.. maybe have a stiff drink before watching, it may level things out a bit for you! 😆.. regards John
