Jim James is probably the best thing I have ever heard. MMJ has morphed my music focus to some sort of deep obsession, and the indie/folk rock is all I can listen to nowadays. This is probably top 5 for me. Steam Engine is my favorite.
Up and up and up I climb When I came up I was so far behind My head takes a lickin' But my heart keeps on tickin Just the same Always startin' over but somehow I always know where to begin Round and round and round I ride And just when I looked I hadn't even began To feel the effect A cool, dark fever On the brain That feelin' takin' over Like a holy rollercoaster To the grave How can I await the day The last the night I'm here to see How do I await the mother lode It's the art of feelin naked in your clothes Again, again, again I tried That's how I knew I would never be denied That face in the mirror Who could it be, it was my own That cool, dark figure That's when I knew I was alone On and on and on I drive When will I know I've finally arrived So far I've gone, so far to go It never ends Always startin over but somehow I always know where to begin Always startin over but somehow I always know where to begin Always startin over but somehow I always know where to begin
Kyle B or sometimes it's embarrassing to admit the way you discovered a band! I discovered MMJ through a DVD/CD with some music videos i got at American Eagle for shopping there back in 01? Or 02? I also discovered The Shins and The Doves in that same DVD thing! But I no longer shop there lol
Dont they just- i get wrapped up in this stuff in such a lovely way. Pretty awesome how they pull it off live so beautifully. "It's the art of feeling naked in your clothes".
That's me in the mask at 1:37! Got that mask when I was 4 years old. Such an awesome, surreal show that night. After the show everyone was exiting and Jim was standing in the middle of the floor by himself checking out the stage set-up. I went up to talk to him and he was such a calm nice dude. It felt like I was just talking to one of my friends.
This is sick! I've never seen this on any of the copies Okonokos I've watched. According to wikipedia it's a bonus track on the vinyl box set. dillsnufus, you're the best!
@wutangmitch Acoustic Chorale is outtakes from Okonokos, At Dawn, Strangulation, I Think Im Goin To Hell, Where to Begin, And Bermuda Highway are all from it.
This is the song that should've been played in the dancing scene of Quiet Place, instead of Harvest Moon. Both are good songs... but this song adjacent to the plot would have been spectacular in that scene.
So moving, this song is beautiful. And no, I don't think Jim James is human - he's divine! Does anyone know where to get Acoustic Chorale on DVD??? Thanks so much for posting these! :)
incredible song by an incredible band. mmj just sweeps you off your feet. does any have the chords or tab? the ones i found differ from what james is playing and just dont sound right
@dillsnufus all that matters is that they make good music that their fans enjoy. Everyone should check out this band called Moon Taxi. They do a lot of touring and their shows are some of the best I've ever seen.

This is one of the greatest songs ever created. I will never get tired of it.

became my favorite song ever the first time i ever heard it
I’ve loved this song for years . So amazing. Idk how I could listen to this any other way than this live performance. Thank you to the poster!!
Up and up and up I climb
When I came up I was so far behind
My head takes a lickin'
But my heart keeps on tickin
Just the same
Always startin' over but somehow
I always know where to begin
Round and round and round I ride
And just when I looked I hadn't even began
To feel the effect
A cool, dark fever
On the brain
That feelin' takin' over
Like a holy rollercoaster
To the grave
How can I await the day
The last the night I'm here to see
How do I await the mother lode
It's the art of feelin naked in your clothes
Again, again, again I tried
That's how I knew I would never be denied
That face in the mirror
Who could it be, it was my own
That cool, dark figure
That's when I knew I was alone
On and on and on I drive
When will I know I've finally arrived
So far I've gone, so far to go
It never ends
Always startin over but somehow I always know where to begin
Always startin over but somehow I always know where to begin
Always startin over but somehow I always know where to begin
This is probably my favourite song of all time.

Sitting in the Casa de Cultura listening with some friends. It’s been a fair amount of time now. Calarcá, Colombia.
3:01 he felt it.
So did we.
Words do nothing to describe this goodness being displayed here. Heart is full =)
One of my favorite songs, ever!
This work truly is a moment of art. I love it so much. I really can't say how much it nails it.
Never heard of this band until I watched Elizabethtown. I immediately fell in love with this song. They remind me a lot of Trampled By Turtles.
Check out the rest of okonokos and my port Chester vids. Enjoy ! And welcome to the family
my morning jacket transcends words.

Moon Taxi kills it! I always check out their shows when they come around my town.

Brasil!
So dreamy
GET RIGHT WITH GOOD MUSIC....so talented J.J....he puts sooooo much shit to shame...but you either get this or you dont.
This is the song that should've been played in the dancing scene of Quiet Place, instead of Harvest Moon. Both are good songs... but this song adjacent to the plot would have been spectacular in that scene.
The lap-steel sounds beautiful, I want to fucking buy one!
The entire song is great, I love it!
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmy Morning Jacket =oD
amazing song !!!
BRASIL s2....
I do, because I want them to make millions of dollars because they deserve it.
Thank YOU
Not late 90s bud, they're current. MMJ is amazing. Jim James is a brilliant front man.
Peak Jacket.
Chills . . . . !
@macch530 as long as you tune your guitar to C#G#C#F#A#D# it should sound right

Okonokos, I believe
Yes but not part of the live album
@macch530 its on the homepage of it, the link to it in the index of songs doesnt work

Does anyone know where to get Acoustic Chorale on DVD???
Thanks so much for posting these! :)
@dillsnufus all that matters is that they make good music and their fans enjoy it.
incredible song by an incredible band. mmj just sweeps you off your feet.
does any have the chords or tab? the ones i found differ from what james is playing and just dont sound right
Ten years later... Did you ever find your chords? Lol
@macch530 visit the offical unoffical mmj tabs website
FYI these videos are not in the correct sequence. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 should be 4, 5, 2, 1, 6, 3 to match the Bonus DVD sequencing.

@MrGuitarman67 its the title of the video dude.
where you can get this on dvd??? the acoustic chorale that is???
@js0221717 I have and they dont have a tab for the song. the tabs on ulitmate-guitar arent accurate to what JJ is playing here. oh well
60B brought me here
does anyone have the tabs or chords to this song? I desperately need to learn how to play this song!
what is the name of this song?
Any information on when and where these six videos were recorded?
@serinedream. mmj is a religion of sorts, but unlike phish and grateful dead you dont need to be dosed to have a religious experience.
@MrGuitarman67 seriously?
I'll give you a hint: it's not as place where you start something.
@dillsnufus who cares about how famous they are?
I don't think it matters about fame as much as how many people on the planet can be healed by this song.
this is okonokos not acoustic whatever.
