- I decided to take my Christmas money and treat myself to something awesome to play around with! This is a Japanese N64 console, more specifically it's the Orange Pikachu edition which was never released anywhere else in the world. Look out for content related to this system in other videos, but first it's time to unbox it!

Hey Tom. Here is a tip for you. On UA-cam there are videos showing you how to remove that plastic piece inside the cartridge slot instead of cutting out the plastic tabs. If you wanted to sell it on in the future and it becomes rare having it all original would get you more money and not spoil the console.
That looks like one gorgeous machine! Orange is my favourite colour as well. Love it. I'm surprised you didn't get a customs charge. Lucky you didn't. Great video!
wow, that's awesome. I've been dreaming of a japanese n64 for a long time, I guess getting the games is even harder than geting the console

Tom, you can now buy replacement N64 cart trays (that go inside the console) that don't have tabs, they are new 3d printed ones. Saves chopping up the original console :)

+ItsMyNaturalColour Wow! I'm not sure if we got anything like that here in Australia (probably did xD) but I can see just through the video that the orange is wicked! Good on you, you need to treat yourself here and there.
+Alpha Gamer I know that you guys got a lot of the great N64 designs, including the Pokemon Stadium set with the yellow controller, but prices are apparently VERY high for retro Nintendo stuff in Australia at the moment, not too sure why. Well, that's just great about the Nintendo stuff being so highly priced. Luckily enough here in my state, we actually have a retro gaming store here but pricing is still a bit outrageous and I can't wait for the next IMNC vid. :)

Nice one, not an N64 fan but gotta say that looks great. I'd imagine the postage price would be insane going the other way - a magazine cost me over £12 to post to the USA

That n64 is awesome
The plug for Japanese appliances is the same as the US/CA and some of central and South America as well. (The voltage and frequency is different in some areas) My US /CA N64 power supply (I'm Canadian btw) is only compatible with 120V. Your power supply may only be compatible if it in a certain area of Japan. Half of Japan is 60hz and the other half is 50hz. If your in a 50hz region you can use a simple transformer to convert the voltage. If it from a 60hz region, if you choose to use the one that came with it, then you may have games running at faster or slower speeds. If I'm not wrong it doesn't matter if you use a UK power adapter with a Japanese or any other place with 100-130v.

+MrThetechnologyguy No apology necessary! :) I have a video coming up that I filmed today detailing how to run a Japanese N64 in the UK properly. I can't speak for other regions but getting this thing hooked up over here is incredibly simple.
How is your console now? Has the pal power pack not fried the console?.l really need to know as lm thinking of buying a japanese console.l have a 100hz crt tv would it suffice? ln your opinion whst is the best picture set-up?From a fan in England.

its not ntsc japan is still pal just 50hz
