    Most of the times, you can shut up the water coming into the house and change out the valves. It's just some rubber in the valves that have seen better days.
    Check the water to see if there's a lot of sand on it, that would take out the valve again kinda quickly. You can get cheapish sand filters to install where the water comes into the house.

    Lovely to see you looking so well and happy. Congratulations to you and Sonam on your new home. It will be so much fun to see how you transform it. One thing that I’m sure you will want to be mindful of when dealing with antique and vintage items and spaces is lead. Sadly in the past lead was so common in paints and glazes and should be properly dealt with so as to not make you sick. I can’t imagine how stressed you were when Chris escaped. I have three sweet indoor cats and have put AppleAir tags on their collars just in case they escape. These tags are not really meant for pets but so far they have been effective for us. They have not escaped the house but have gotten into the basement and caused me to panic. The AirTags have allowed me to find them in seconds. Also, if you don’t already follow Maddie Taylor on UA-cam you may enjoy her as she has recently purchased an older home in Germany and is showing her work as she transforms each room.

      Oh yes, lead is so important. Thanks for the reminder. I know also some vintage clothes have fire retardants in them..! I need to learn more about this!
      Oh that's so clever for your cats! I've heard they can even be better than other GPS trackers. Oh gosh, I will have to follow her! I have NO IDEA what I want it to look like haha ❤

    Saga!!! Oh my goodness I'm so freaking excited for you! Your new home is lovely and I can't wait to see all the things you do to make it your own. That room with the fireplace was gorgeous!! I'm so glad that you have Chris with you and that you were able to find him both times he escaped. I have 4 kitty babies and I know how stressful it can be when one goes missing. You are a good cat mom and I think your idea of letting him explore the new home and surroundings slowly is a great idea. Less stress for both of you. Buying a home is one of the most exciting and emotionally challenging things that a person can do (I'm a real estate agent in the US, plus I've bought and sold over 9 of my own homes so I know first hand about this!) I'm really looking forward to many more of your posts about life, your home, Chris, and you! I'm glad you are are feeling better and that you were able to get this video made and posted. Hi Saga, I am so glad for you, your husband, and sweet Chris! I have enjoyed so much seeing your pictures of your new/old home on Instagram~it is so very exciting to have a home with all that history and charm, and the beauty of the amazing lush, green mountains surrounding you in the Italian countryside is awesome! Italy is up at the top of some of our family's travel list, including my own, but not before going to my ancestral home of Sweden. 💙💛
    Please be soooo careful with your precious Chris! It is such a dangerous world out there, and especially so for an older cat. My job at home has been working at a large family run pet store helping people with their pets~dogs and cats. Small dogs and cats can be in real danger form birds of prey, and of course other animals. Yes, a good GPS collar, or maybe a safe harness that you can attach one to, is a good idea, but the very best one is to try very hard not to let him get outdoors unless you are at the other end of his leash. I can so empathize with how frightened you had to have been when he was temporarily lost~that is the absolute worst feeling of fear. Thank God you found him safe and sound! 🙌🙏🐱💞
    Sending you so many happy new home wishes, and may you be blessed with so much JOY there! I will be looking very forward to all you restoration updates and all! Much Love!!!🥰

    I'm Italian and no, I never heard about a house with taps in every room, at least not in the city 😃 perhaps it's more common in large countryside houses?
    Anyway, please make a video about the whole home search and purchase process! 😊 I'm planning to buy some tiny place outside of the big cities, but I'm still incredibly confused about all our bureaucracy! 😅 People who already bought a house give a lot of information for granted, and it might be helpful to hear it from someone who came from abroad and had to research and follow the whole process from the start... Plus I'm neurodivergent too and I'd be happy to hear your perspective and advice (if you have some) 😊

    Hi cara, 😊 congratulations on buying the house! Grattis!
    The faucets in the rooms are there because they used them to water the plants or because there was a small bathroom or washing machine, perhaps. Also they can be useful in case of renovation. Please be careful of mold, and it is likely that the pipes will need to be redone. I suggest finishing everything before October because it will rain a lot for months afterwards (if you are where I think you are, between Liguria and Tuscany).
    Before modifying and tearing down walls, you should consult an engineer because if you bring down a load-bearing wall, the house will collapse, but I'm sure you are fully aware of this. Additionally, you should immediately notify the tax agency that you have made changes to the house because not doing so is illegal.
    As for me, I am trying to sell my house in Italy, in a magical area in front of an ancient park, in Rome - which of course breaks my heart - and it's not easy because Italians have issues with taxes on mortgages. So I hope that a foreigner will buy it, and I'm feeling tense because while you have found the right place, ever since I had to return here from Sweden, I have been suffering because I want to sell and leave, even though unfortunately I haven't figured out where yet. The plan was selling here and buying in Sweden, but what's been happening up there for a few years now, I don't like it, especially in the major cities - there's always chaos, shootings, it seems like it's becoming America, and I need peace, to have fun, nature, music, and respectful and kind people around, which unfortunately are too scarce here for my taste.
    I'm sure you'll do everything in time, and I wish you well in the winter. If you need anything and I can help, feel free to ask.

      Tack!
      Thanks so much for all the useful tips. Yeah, plumbing will be the biggest issue as it's already leaking...! Between Liguria and Piemonte, so other side, but still rainy! :)
      Thank you for the info about the tax agency. I have a very good Geometra so hopefully this will help.
      Oh my goodness! What park is it in Rome? I used to love living in Rome. Here in Liguria there are many houses ;) I love Rome too, and I agree with Sweden. The political climate is not fun. Where in Sweden are you? Landskrona where I'm from has become incredibly quiet and calm, with lots of Danish boat tourists and nice old fashioned villas. It's very family friendly and close to nature now.

    • @astridcyanistescaeruleus4126

      @@SagaJohanna varsågod 🌸
      It is the "Parco degli Acquedotti" and it is enchanting. There are also horses, and the nature is exceptional. However, I really need to sell and close this chapter of my life. I need to find an independent house. In Sweden, I was in the heart of the dragon, Stockholm. We discussed this last year, I believe. I know that Stockholm is quite disliked by the rest of Sweden. I need to live surrounded by nature but close to a vibrant city because I enjoy dancing in clubs. I do not drink alcohol, I hate smoking, and of course, no drugs but I can dance for hours as I adore music and the energy among people when we dance. It's not that easy, especially because I am a solo female (we also previously agreed on this topic regarding -not- having children;) ). I would need to work even harder by myself, and it would be impossible during winter if I choose Sweden or somewhere in Italy. Since I am Italian, I would prefer to stay abroad, you know, but yes, I am very confused. For example, here in Rome, I can reach the beach in half an hour or an hour, the city center in 15 minutes, and the park in just a 3-minute walk. There are always plenty of things to do, and I adore art and life, but it has become too crowded and dirty nowadays, and I can't handle it anymore. Then there are places in Italy in which beaches are splendid but, again, I should live secluded and it's not the best situation to do it alone, everywhere. Sweden is going through a critical time, though...
      P.S. That fireplace is marvelous!
      Do you have space for animals, plant trees and your own vegetables?

    • @SagaJohanna
      @SagaJohanna  Місяць тому

      @@astridcyanistescaeruleus4126 Oh yes I remember. That is really hard, yes. Yes, Rome in summer for example is impossible. I'd really recommend South of sweden for a slower pace, or the outskirts of Stockholm. My grandfathers girlfriend (they met at 82!), has a house about an hour outside of Stockholm right by a lake on a private shared road that's quite difficult to pass. The house is simple and small, but the location and garden beautiful! I'd love to live there if I was in Sweden :)
      Ps! Thank you! Yes, currently we have a little bit of space. Maybe 150 m2, but since it's Italy (as you know) I'm hoping to buy the neighbors land of about 200m2 and then the other neighbours olive trees that I over time can transfer into a food forest. I'm currently waiting for another neighbor to bring me horse manure for my little garden...! haha :)

    • @astridcyanistescaeruleus4126
      @astridcyanistescaeruleus4126 Місяць тому

      Oh yes, Rome in the summer is difficult to live in during the day, which is unfortunate because the beaches are great and nearby. However, it can be challenging to reach them due to the heat. On the positive side, walking around at night feels poetic, like living in a fairy tale. There is always something to do, but in the past three weeks, I haven't been able to do much during the day. The temperature has reached 39° more than once. A waste of time.
      It's lovely to hear that your grandfather and his girlfriend met at 82🥰 I really enjoy hearing stories like that. Living outside of Stockholm would be nice, but when I try to check Hemnet, the prices are too high even for the smallest wooden house that would require complete repairs. I like Österlen because of the white beaches, but again, it is expensive and far from a big city. Since I am still paying rent for a storage unit in Stockholm to keep my belongings, I am not considering other options like Finland or Norway, as it would be too complicated for one person and I am already finding it difficult.
      It would be a relief if I could find a place to store my stuff instead of continuing to pay rent in Stockholm. I have been thinking about a small wooden house somewhere, but I have not found one yet. So far, I have spent more than 20,000kr on the storage unit.
      At the same time, I am looking at some places in Italy, because yes I'm puzzled. If friends and people I like come from abroad to live here, not just for visiting, for example it would be nice to connect with them and feel like I am actually living in another country (except for when I receive expensive bills!). I am also trying to sell my apartment in Rome without using a real estate agent, as I don't like their lack of ethics and ridiculously high fees for doing very little. As a result they are trying their best to stress me out and sabotage the sale, hoping that I will give up. But I won't, in fact, I am even more upset with them now.
      As soon as you'll get more land you'll be self-sufficient most probably, which is an intelligent goal. Where did you live in Rome and during what time period? Is Ghiro still around? 😀

First of all Chris could be infected with tapeworm or other nasty parasites from interacting with these little creatures and second of all as vegans we don’t want to cause avoidable harm to other sentient beings.
