Just a beautiful bike Nils.Great job.I used to have one in 1981.It was stolen out of my garage and I was so upset that the next day I started the processes of being a cop.Retired now and I ride a Harley but I will always love the Honda CBX.
oh my god, you sold it ! you bought it as a second hand, wow, what a bike maintenence. 15years, spotless usage ! look at the tires, it never seen the road ! the guy who bought over is really fortunate, i live in thailand, i tried past 2 years to find such a bike, could not get even closer to it ! you are really fantastic guy !!!
I rode one of those once. It wasn’t stock, but it wasn’t super wild. Nothing sounds like a CBX. Different power band then the 750. Would love to have one.
I'm a Harley guy but I've always admired the CBX. Your changes are conservative improvements over stock. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase if in the market.Sometimes stock is not good i.e.SUSPENSION ! 👍💀
I know how you feel Brother, I had the 1983 Honda CB1100F in Red/Black, I said I would never get rid of it. But it was time for someone else to enjoy it as I have. There are days I wish I still owned it to ride.
It is a beauty with very, very enjoyable features, and its details, as it is not faired like the current ones, make its aesthetics shine from different angles! Maybe I would just change the "ducktail" for the tail that was later used on the CB?! Also, just like that, it's a charm!!
Hi, you should NEVER sell a CBX!!!! I bought mine new in 1979 and sold her in 1981 with 13k miles. Been regretting it and missing her ever since. My best bike ever. I now have a R1200GS, lovely to ride but most unreliable, same with the company, useless. just one more thing, the brushes in the alternator wear off, and then no more chageing the battery...eventually the engine stops. I was riding on the motorways from Nice to Paris at night, lost the headlight first, then the egine spluttered when I was breaking (stop light coming on). Got lucky, opened the alernator on the roadside, stretched the brushes springs so that the brushes would contact the races and push started the bike, lucky me. I then bought 2sets if brushes, one spare in the tool kit. There you are, my little story.
For a minute I thought this was my old CBX I had to give up around '05 or '06 as I'm from Mass. But mine had 6 into 1 Supertrap and a Tim's big bore kit. Had a Candy Glory red '79 as well that I put 45k on.
The air caps were standard on the '80. I did add the complete "Sport Kit", including the lower bars, rearset footrest plates, and the cables, switches and other items that complete the kit. Huge improvement.
I was around when this bike was sitting in the Honda showroom. They were not a big seller. 2 main reasons, the carbs. Were a nightmare to work on, and valve adjustment. My friend almost fainted when he got the bill from the the Honda shop, after he got a complete tune - up and had the carbs adjusted. He had a 79, sold it soon after that drama.
friend got into the z1000s, just remember one head being an absolute mess of helicoils and stripped cam caps... one was drilled right through with a nut on the outside... all the dowels gone... even the m8 helicoils stripped (remember... m6 to start with!)... wtf... he understood why i always said... 1/2 turn at a time. cus otherwise you do that stuff... and thats just a four... ffs, i would scream given a six. its not that bad, though i make a habit of keeping records of what clearances i find and what shims i shove in. thats the annoying part and why a shop charges... especially if anythings gone "negative clearance". oooh, i hate that. better tear the head just to make sure its not an issue... and pull the dam cams apart twice. effin... the joys of old bikes, never know what you find underneath when you dig in...

Absolutely beautiful CBX, Nils. I respect your decision to let it go, though I don’t think I would have the strength to part with it.
Looking sharp, Nils! Hope you are doing well in your endeavors! Still have my turbo CBX, will have it until I go to my grave.
Amazing bike, and the work put into it is awesome too! Very very unfortunate that you had to let it go...
BEAUTIFUL bike! I think I could never let it go, but... you had your reasons which I respect. BEAUTIFUL BIKE ! I LOVE THAT BIKE !

The best I've ever seen. Wish it were mine. You did a awesome job. Thank you for the video.

As always Nils you’ve knocked it outta the park.
Love your work.

Great Job...Someone that bought it very lucky!
Absolutely worth $18,000. Don't know the buyer and already hate 'em. JK. A beauty.

Man that bike is just beatiful and pretty neat.

Sweet bike! I’m restoring an ‘82 Sabre v45, which basically went untouched. Had to overhaul EVERYTHING! I look forward to buying a fixer CBX!
Beautiful Bike and Excellent restoration!!!
I'm assuming it has sold?
Great information!!!
beautiful classic bike.
You're mad selling this mate 😭 she's a stunner.
Thank you, Andrew. I build these for fun, and so if I get the itch for another twin-shock, I can make another.

My Dad bought a brand new red CBX in 1979. Even back then it was a pricey bike (especially in the UK). 👍
Bought mine in 80 for 2000 pounds new with crash bars from DC Cook so not so pricey.

Perfect ! Best ever made ! Bravo !!
Loooooove this bike forever 😍😍😍
Cant believe they are over 40 years old
Dream Bike. Nice.
Lower your expectations and grab yourself a Yamaha XS1100. You won’t regret it
Bikes are made to be ridden.
Noticed the bars are 'Euro' (lower) and air fork addition.

Io ne ho una simile, dove si compra lo stabilizzatore cromato delle forcelle? Grazie
had to sell mine also std z old age owner . how much did it go for . great bike .
Tendrían que hacer una 2024..!
Correction! It does NOT have a Prolink clutch. This stock clutch had the dampers replaced back in 2009 or so.
Why does the speedo only show a max of 80 plus mph?
There was a period of time in the USA where the DOT had some...inventive ideas about vehicles and safety.

The bike is sold!
How much did it go for, just out of curiosity?
I'm curious too 😊
$18,000 USD @@garydunn3037
Hi there, how much are you asking?
The bike was sold, but thanks for your interest.
@@NilsMenten That bike was extremly gorgeous! Congrats about the sale!
Thank you! @@optimuspower9716
Nice! My 79 looks nowhere near that nice. My 83 1100F looks a lot better overall. Maybe one day I'll get all the cosmetics/paint done.
What are you asking $. ?
The bike is sold.
Can I ask how much ?
10 million dollars.
Now I want to build another just for YOU! 🙂
Must have been hard to let it go
I get a little pang every time I walk by it - it hasn't been picked-up yet. But no regrets, time to send it to a new home.
