Loved seeing the JD 40!!! I spent many summers back in my youth. Even did a 40 acre barley field that had laid down flat from rain, all one direction 10' at a time😂
The smaller head comment 👍🏻my father was a farm they always ran smaller heads so they could move down the rd with the head attached saves a lot of time when u have a bunch of smaller fields close together and not alot of help
As always great video! Dad had a JD45. It was involved in my first farming accident at the age of 4. I fell off the platform & sliced my right leg open from ankle to groin. The muscles came off the bone. I got 135 stitches from the deal & a bum knee.
@@Thewaywefarm No sir both of mine are 10' grain platforms. Hard to believe a corn cob could go through the feeder house sideways hahahaha. The 40 is super rare in our part of Texas and corn heads of that era are non-existent.
@@Thewaywefarm Ours was all chopped back then. When I was kid there was a little irrigated in the 80-90s that was combined but still now the bulk is chopped.
We had a jd40, samples were so clean. We did not even clean the seed for the next season. But man I hated that combine. But in the mud with duals and 45 wheels fitted to the rear. We ran where tracks on 45's and 55's were getting stuck.
THAT A VERY OLD COMBINE I NEVER SEEN ONE LIKE THAT INTIL NOW THANKS FOR FILMING IT
It’s a 1960 model, we love it! Thanks for watching
Its so easy to get up to the trees with them little things
A cool ole combine.
Thanks Randy, glad we still have it around
Another great video! Very cool seeing that old combine working
Thank you Mark!
Play combine looks cool

The thought of 40 acres of barley one way makes me itch like crazy 😛 Thanks for the comments
The old girl is doing a good job.
Thank you

I agree, and I can get through field openings without taking it off. Feeds nice too in tough straw and soybean conditions.
That's awesome..ol 40 earning her keep.😁😁😁😁
Very cool to see the 40 action.
It’s a cute little machine, glad we can still use it!
I love the sickle drive on the 40.
42 HP ! 35 bushel hopper !
So crude but effective!
Love your videos!!!
Thanks for the kind words!
It's interesting that humans have created amazing machines
if you’re amazed by that you should look up the modern stuff. Such as the claas Lexion 8900 and John Deere X9 1100

I never heard that story 😬 Thanks for the support!
@@Thewaywefarm No you wouldn't of, it was his fault.

Awesome. Great video. Love being a subscriber, thank you for sharing these.
Thank you for the support!!
I choose the John deere 40🌽🌾🇺🇸🙂.
But also like the 9670
Thank you! We are going to try to run the 40 again this summer!
He gave us video of him but when it came to his wife he just showed the combine😉
Go to my instagram @farming_sumbitch to see my wife running the 40!
Have a couple of 40s. Very low serial numbers. Were alot of fun to operate.
Do you have a corn head? I’d like to find a nice 205. Thanks for the comments

@@matthewheinze1231 Most of the corn around here was chopped for silage or picked as ear corn back in the 60s and 70s. Thanks for watching our channel

Como seria legal se tivesse ainda maquinas pequenas desse jeito e com simplicidade para vender nos dias de hoje.

Ours is fun to do a few acres with but all day would be tough. They are light machines so I could see why it would float
That JD 40 runs better than some new combines LOL.
Thanks Ethan!
Vacation shirt while harvesting, yes please find your hat!

We had a 55 when I was a kid.
55s we’re great combines. They were popular in western New York
I helped haul straw from 30ft head you could almost step from bale to bale
Deere engineers would not believe that there could be wheat yields would be double prvailing corn yields!
That is very true, that field averaged almost 100 bushel per acre this year!
Did I hear 100 bushel wheat? We usually get 40 on a good year
We’re disappointed if we don’t get close to 100 bushel. Usually average 85
You look like you just got off the plane from a Hawaii vacation 😂
Everyday I’m on vacation!
they didn't make many of the 40s our neighbor had one the only other one I ever saw they were not popular in our area
@@MarkSmith-on5gg We are fortunate to have this one, not many survivors
You ate about a ton of dust every day
My 3300 would fit in with the 40
Do you still have the 3300? I love those machines!
100 bushls a field you should be running a x9😅
I hope so some day!!
Don't sneak down the road with the head on. We have had deaths in Ireland from it. It's too much of a life changing event. Save yourself the anguish.
Thanks for the advice!
Ireland and USA are two different countries, we learned how to get out of the way 😂
Seems like a German harvester from 1938!
