Eric Clapton has often stated that JJ Cale is one of the single most important figures in rock history, a sentiment echoed by many of his fellow musicians. Cale's influence on Clapton and many of today's artists cannot be overstated. To honor JJ's legacy, a year after his passing, Clapton, along with a group of like-minded friends and musicians, is releasing Eric Clapton & Friends: The Breeze, An Appreciation of JJ Cale. With performances by Clapton, Mark Knopfler, John Mayer, Willie Nelson, Tom Petty, Derek Trucks, Don White and others, the album features 16 beloved JJ Cale Songs and is named for the 1972 single "Call Me The Breeze."
Call Me The Breeze Lyrics:
They call me the breeze
I keep rollin' down the road
They call me the breeze
I keep rollin' down the road
I ain't got me nobody
I ain't carrying me no load
Ain't no change in the weather
Ain't no change in me
Ain't no change in the weather
Ain't no change in me
I ain't hiding from nobody
Ain't nobody hiding from me
I got that green light babe
I got to be movin' on
I got that green light babe
I got to be movin' on
I might go out to California
Might go down to Georgia
I don't know
Gotta love this beat- gets ur toes a tapping. THAT'S the Tulsa sound! Sure do miss MY. THIS is my 89 y.o. mom's fab Clapton song🎸🚕🚦🛤🌬🌬🌬🌬
This song made me actually smile and tapping my toes. Feel much better now.
Just learned about JJ Cale now. Never heard of him before today but so glad I found out about him. Looking up his music and enjoying it. Was always a fan of Eric Clapton's for many years and now I know where he got his sound from.
RIP JJ Cale. Thank you for your contributions to the music I love.
Eric Clapton Fantastic tribute to JJ Cale! I can hear the influences of Oklahoma on this, such as blues and country music. Well done!
Love the new videos but I love seeing you and JJ bring joy to my heart ❤
Thank you! Eric and JJ music is part of our lives and will live for ever.
Mr. JJ Cale is having a great, great smile, there in Heaven!
JJ always will be the Breeze; a tall glass of pure, cold water in the music. First heard him in 1975, was in a small town in Northern Alberta (Canada) and I kept on playing and re-playing his album, "Naturally". I had never been so captivated by a style of music as JJ. Where ever you may be, JJ you will always be here.
Ohmbuoy Kabo toll ich freue mich
I cut my teeth to JJCale... the album naturally is still one of the best albums, John was the true slowhand.
@@ratkeller9608 I don't think Eric would disagree that J.J. was the original slowhand, because his style of playing changed after becoming friends with Cale.
However, Clapton was a true slowhand in his own right, learning well from the master, the man he called "my hero". He had previously played Cale songs faster, but in a lead-in to a video where the two are on stage together, Eric said the slower version is what he'd now rather play, then smiled and added that he could play in J.J.'s style "till the cows come home".
And on the above recording, which appeared on a tribute album after Cale's passing in 2013, Eric plays the song closer to the version on _Naturally,_ than any other cover. In fact, note that the beginning here is actually taken from Cale's original from that album, then seamlessly switches over to Clapton playing.
@@Galantski Yes, I agree with your assessment, thank you for taking the time to express your view, and point out some of those important details. I can hear what you mean. I guess it is just a tough egg to swallow that Clapton put three of JJ Cale's songs on the Popular charts with versions that do not seem like better versions, and yet I should actually be grateful that he did so. I did post another comment stating I am glad he finally covered Call me the Breeze more in honour of the original. yet I do agree with your outlook after only the consideration it took to read it. It simply rings true.
Great appreciation with this classic song from JJ Cale, thanks.
Still a most fitting video to inspire all of us CAT / Storm Adjusters and Restoration contractors across the continent. Thank you JJ (RIP) and to Eric and friends for this album
The best soft blues-rock version of this song ever!
Fantastic version of a classic JJ tune!
Excellent by far a classic.... !!
EC: Well done; you and JJ are the greatest!
Please produce more of these . I think one of the most overlooked artist's I can recall and I search for great music anywhere. As a guitar player I have been trying to figure him out since I had a guitar. Worth it, Seems a shame that so many will not discover his vibe sooner
we went to school together. hollyfield.
great song, Eric
Well, this is just fantastic!
Ciao JJ sei sempre nel mio cuore. Ciao Amico !
E Grazie a Eric per il video.
Cool Sound ...still works for me!
I'm sitting and listening with a smile on my face 😊
Nice. One of my favorites.
Waiting for the whole album as there's duet with Mark Knopfler!
So glad to hear you finally cover 'call me the breeze' more in honour of the original, all my life Eric Clapton slow hand and JJCale naturally has been heart of the soundtrack.
Very cool version,love Eric's tone & vocals
we miss jj. clapton is doing a good job. respect.
Clapton could have put his own stamp on this, but instead it`s almost the same note for note. Much respect for not messing with a classic
amazing song.... old rockn roll ... I love it...the best of Clapton & Friends...wow

fantastic! hear it every morning drivin to work.
Eric Clapton = magic
Love this song
Das ist fantastisch!!!🙋👍👍👍❤
I can't wait! This new comp ought to be outstanding!
Love this
Viva J.J. Cale.
I would have loved to hear that classic intro alongside Clapton's own guitar, but this track in itself is amazing, very interesting cover.
Clapton said the intro is a drum machine from jj's demo of this song. EC said he had trouble with the quirky beat without the drum machine so he put it in as an intro.
Well, you've gone and done it again...inspired me to the MAX! Restringing my Strat with your name on it as this blares thru my earbuds. THANK YOU!!!
fantastic.love it...

Grande Eric......
Very nice presentation
Eric I continue to dig into the blues discovery music that I have not heard. Of course this classic by JJ was covered by Lynard Sknard, Johnny Cash, John Mayer, even Les claypool and many others.
For me the word are the foundation to a great song. "Ain,t no changing me" those words I have long lived with. Great song, great music Eric.
My bucket list Eric like millions of us struggling musicians trying to break through to the other side.I just want a few songs to live on, be on crossroads 1Time
Lots of folks covered this song along with many other JJ Cale songs and the royalties earned him a comfortable life. What else can you ask for?
Great as always! Exc. country mood!!!! Nice butter solos!!!!
The voice of aged, but still rockin' blues.
It’s Clapton doing Clapton with Cale as his vehicle.
This is my new karaoke song...oh yeah!
Make sure you check out "Call Me the Breeze" from the 2004 Crossroads Festival featuring J.J. on lead vocal and guitar with a special solo by Eric Clapton. The video is here on UA-cam. -- J.J. - lots of love from a fellow fudpucker from Tulsa.
It's NOT Clapton doing Skynyrd. It's Clapton doing J.J. Cale.
Exactly

It’s Clapton doing Clapton. With Cale as his vehicle! Oh yeah, and Albert Lee doing his thing!
