    Love the Desert King videos. Its the only fig tree that I have 2 of because I love the breba concept. Never had one yet. This is their first year in ground. I am so jealous hearing you enjoy the figs, but encouraged to this or next year, buy some land in rural oregon to do exactly what you're doing, having enough figs to eat to my hearts content, to the point where I don't want to eat anymore for that day. That to me sounds like the pinnacle of life. Take care~

    All my pepper plants died this year. I believe it was a soil issue. I'm heart broken. Your crops look amazing! Enjoy Lou!

    Really outstanding video, thanks! Check out my fruit forest, 5 varieties of figs in my yard down here in FL. So cool, the spotted lantern flies.

      The lantern flies are horrible here in PA! Thank goodness you don't have them!

    You property reminds me of my family 's

      Hi, Lou! Both are excellent cultivars and both are very cold hardy, as well! Thanks for watching! Lou Monti

    If it's really spelled "Filacciano", it's pronounced "Feel-achano".

    Thanks for the video Lou. I’m thinking of keeping some of my new sapling figs in a warm area such as have 70 degrees of heat over the winter to allow them to grow more since they are currently only about a foot tall. Is this advisable? Do they need to go dormant for a time to produce fruit?

    • @loumonti10
      @loumonti10  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, 100 hours of chill time is the requirement for fig trees. Although the requirement is very low, still, they do need it in order to be fully healthy and fruitful. Thanks for watching, Lou Monti

      @@loumonti10 another question Lou, how cold is the temperature for chill hours?

    Hi Lou! Great video! I'm here in Pa and am just starting out with figs. I have 5 trees in tree pots and its July. Is it possible to pot them in 7 gallon pots now or should I wait until they are dormant? I have an I-258 that I purchased from a seller and it is rather small and not doing anything in the tree pot. How can I get it to perform a bit better? I have a black madiera and a col de dam that have two trees in one tree pot. I wouldn't dare try to separate them now, but hope that I can move them to a larger pot so they can stretch out. Do you recommend potting them or leaving them alone? Thanks Lou!

      Well, I would need much more information to answer your question properly, but I will give some general answers to your questions. keep in mind that many growers have their own methods, of course. In my opinion it's fine to up pot single trees in July. I do it all of the time. However, be careful not to oversize your pot for too small a tree! That can often lead to a very unhealthy tree. Also, don't place them in direct sun for one week, more if the roots were disturbed significantly. Do not attempt to separate the two varieties growing in the same pot. I strongly oppose growing two trees in one pot, so, at the end of Winter, several weeks before the dormant period is over, carefully pry them apart. Then up pot each of them to a slightly larger pot of their own. Good luck! Regards from, Loy Monti

      Hi, Janice! My grow bags are generally between 5 and 15 gallons, depending on the size and age of my trees. Regards from, Lou Monti

      Hi Lou, just watched your latest fig video comparing the possible 2 whites and the dark. First video I've seen. Ohh , what juicy wonders! Thanks, so very cool. Am in Staten Is/NYC waiting for my old Italian figs to ripen! There are quite a few varieties on this island from early immigrants. No names!
