A quick question Marcus. How does mastering fit into this whole immersive sound? Traditionally I would mix, and give the high res stereo file to a mastering engineer. How would this fit into the process? I assume that the mastering engineer would need to have surround capability to do the master? A rundown of the mastering process would be nice. Great videos, they are motivating me to try a surround mix, using binaural, since I am not geared for surround in my studio.

Hi Marcus, love all your videos and info you provide. I have a situation I can’t seem to trouble shoot and you seem to be one of the best at some weird situations with studio one.
I have an Adat connection through a Ferrofish pulse to an old presonus 1818vsl interface.
I want to use the outs of the Ferrofish as my monitors, I have adat in from analog ins working well and detected in studio one etc. I have adat out interface to Ferro in etc, they are synced with Ferro master inter as adat slave. (Have flipped also for tests)
My issue is I cannot monitor anything if any track is panned or actually stereo, I see both lines showing up on ins of my Ferro and if I flip listen bus or mains to mono etc I can hear it but it cannot be stereo despite 2 outs going and stereo setup in control panel for corresponding lines.
I do not have a mixer / dsp for external routing in my interface like the newer ones. Any idea why this is happening? Have tried for 5 days diff configs to no luck.
Another weird quirk is the listen bus and main both directly affect the level in Ferro to digital clipping. I found I have to leave master at 0 and attenuate the listen bus to something like -48 dbfs when sending the signal out. The actual audio being -12 to -18 dbfs on the meters of Ferrofish when this is done using a sign wave 1k at 0db.
Ps I can record in stereo instead of mono but not monitor that also unless I swap the track or bus to mono in studio one!
Thanks in advance if possible to help.

Hey Marcus, do you think S1 version 7 will be able to use all cores (performance and efficiency)? I have a major discount on Cubase and trying to hold off if S1 is going to make that change.

So what’s the point of having channel count of up to 9.1.6 if the composite bed is limited to 7.1.4?
