They wanted half-in and half-out AND to become financially independent. How were they going to do that? They would have still done the Oprah interview and the docuseries. They started recording for it from when they were working royals as evidenced by the series itself. We all heard Harry at the Lion King premier telling the Disneyland CEO that Meghan was looking for a voice over. Why as a working royal was Harry pitching for a voice over for his wife?
HM The Queen was clear that one cannot be 'half in and half out' of the Royal Family. That would entail the Sussexes being available to undertake royal duties (like the other senior 'working' royals) while giving them the right to pick and choose the duties they'd deign to perform between their money-making schemes. This is not the way the RF works - and Prince Harry knew that from the outset. Thus, for Harry and Meghan to make a fuss that 'the Sussex way' was ruled out and that this was, somehow, unfair is risible.

Harry was in attendance for his Aunt's comfort during her loss and to show his love and respect for his Spencer family members. William or Charles were not Harry's considerations, except maybe from a security protections perspective. As for William and his giving of "Grace" ...save it for Kate. Harry doesn't need "Grace" from William because Harry was NOT the abusive aggressor, William was. Their shared values and parenthood make for a meaningful, satisfying life. They have chosen to serve while surrounded by friends and well wishers. Meghan was hounded by the royalist media. In California it's safe for her to show her elbows before 6 pm without being publicly vilified by British journalists for her 'ignorance' of royal protocol. And the national scandal when Meghan painted her nails red! Wilson is dreaming of a potential royal family working in harmony after retrieving its best asset - the Sussexes. Clearly, it's not going to happen. That ship sailed almost five years ago. Professor, they were there for a funeral it's not the time or place for reconciliation. Looking for one at a funeral is desperation on the media's part. She only lived in the UK 2 years among them, yet they constantly write stories and leak and brief against her. What's wrong with the picture. The royal family and British media act as if Meghan is a country like Russia, and they are feuding with her. What could this one person have done in that short space of time to make them carry on like this 4 years after she has left. The royal family behaves as if they are victims of this cruel woman that have treated the helpless royals so badly, and they can't do anything. She has left she is not returning. Why would she under these circumstances. She is trying to make a life for her children and husband while helping others. She has been doing that since she was a child helping people. They can't expect her to stop because it makes them feel out of place. There is room for all to do well. They need to stop looking over their shoulders to see what the Sussexes are doing. Look at all the institution of monarchy they have at their disposal, and all they seem to be doing in the last few years is complaining about what Harry and Meghan are doing that is making real impact. When womèn enter the royal family, they seem to go through a period of hazing publicly. No wonder they have so many failed marriages, and little to no support is given. Unfortunately for most of the women, they can't afford to leave. Meghan could she has her own money, and she was clever enough to know how to support herself, and she had a country to go to. Watching it play out from the outside, I would not want a child of mine to marry any of those men in that family. I would rather them marry a penniless anybody than a member of that family. It's not worth your peace of mind. Charles life at 75 is largely a failure. His two sons can't stand each other because he was so wrapped up in his relationship with Camila and trying to secure her place in public life that he forgot about his own children, that should have been his number one priority after their mother's death. He basically abandoned them to the courtiers and bodyguards, and this is the result. He needs to call Jeff Brazier for help. When their mother Jane Goddie, the TV personality, died so tragically of cancer so young and left those two very young children he stepped up and raised them as a single parent, and they are two fine lads now. He may have a good bit of advice for Charles. He is hopeless, and the people around him are only looking out for themselves, not the monarchy, not the family or country. He needs to do some house cleaning and get back to basics, or he is doomed.

Professor, Prince did NOT abandon Royal Duties in my opinion.he wanted, to keep his patronage with the Army that he served and with the Commonwealth group. They denied him that opportunity, ## big mistake , if the had allowed him what he wanted ,I'm sure he wou have assumed other duties in due time.
Why are you so sure of this? He's living in the US, so cannot undertake regimental visits, etc., without frequent transatlantic flights. Had Harry commited to a round of varied royal duties, in common with all other 'nuclear families' within the Royal Family as a whole, and not insisted on pursuing commercial ventures at the same time, none of this (including his overseas abode) would have happened.
