A lot of this is out of a lack of emotional intelligence, external influence, past unresolved trauma, a distorted character / psychology, a lack of understanding of self, mental health issues and the ease and bias with which courts allows and administers divorce.
My wife and I have been trying to figure out how to love and care for each other for a long time and all we do is go in circles. We have spent a lot of time with counselors and pastors to no avail. I have read a lot of books and listened to even more podcasts. I have to say this book has by far been the best and keeps my feet on the ground. I listen to is over and over again. Thank you Toni for writing this book. It has given me much hope that I need right now. And thank you Focus on the Family. My dad made you a staple in his life starting with James Dobson and I continue to do the same. To the listener, faith in Christ, that is home for me. Christ is where I find my peace. Amen.
6:26 thanks Carey & Toni. I nearly went through a divorce with my wife . I would not have forgiven myself . We were struggling in our marriage and I had resigned to my wife leaving me and accepted divorce as a way out for me to have peace in my life . I had vowed not to remarry as I had married my soul mate & love of my life .
This is very important to the christian fraternity. There are lot of conferences and seminars for couples but the leaders never share their failures, making it difficult for people to open up. This is different.
I started listening yesterday and had to hear the rest. My husband of 46 yrs passed away in 2021 and this made me reflect on many of our struggles. Thank you for sharing your journey.
After 35 years of marriage my dad called me to said that he was separating from my mom. I was 33 at that time, and I started crying like crazy. My husband thought someone was dead. Thank God they are working in their relationship. But I always think how a divorce will affect little kids if I was traumatized at 33
i have listened, and i am marred 36 years, if it weren't for money i feel i would be happier alone , our 6 kids are grown. now we have 7 grandkids ,but my husband and I have no connection HELP

Married. He moved into another bedroom because he feels like I'm not the kind of wife he wants, he wants to be free. It has been 5mnths. The family is coming to visit and they think the marriage is working. How and when do i tell them that my husband and i are housemates, we dont talk at all and he has occupied the spare bedroom. I dont want the pressure of 'acting like things are good' because family is here. The separation is real and is part of my daily life.

I don’t see any hope for my marriage. I have grounds for divorce but deep in my heart and soul I don’t want to. I don’t see any reconciliation in the near future so I’m willing to be the scapegoat and go ahead process with the divorce. We’re not one at all. I just want to be over this hurt and torture. I give up.😢
What happens if the love is not there anymore on one of them lives like a good friend and room mates ? And the spouse has bring this up soooo many time and not response?
