Just wanted to say thanks for the videos - I’m local to Pennine and a relative newbie to fly fishing and your videos have helped me catch fish. Might see you there sometime!
Using the shammy I often get deeply hooked fish. If I try to stay in touch with the fly by retrieving slowly, it results in less takes. they just love it to be static at times. Do you have this problem? what would you suggest? love your videos too!
Hi, strike quickly, under bung best for me, long leader retreated very slow figure of 8 watching the end of the floating line for any movement. Regards MD
great video.i tried the shammy under bung and had my better results without bung on a fast intermediate line.i was using white squirmys on a fast inter on friday and it was a day i caught the most triout ever
@@mdflyfishinguk5220 i was out today fishing and while others blanked using bung and floating line with dries.i used a intermediate with an orange blob,uv egg fly and another uv fly and went home with trout.it seems to me in this bright weather you have to go a bit deeper for fish and with an intermediate you seem to have a bit more direct contact with flies.i think the line from rod tip to fly i alot straighter with an intermediate line??
@@mdflyfishinguk5220 from what I could see no one was catching more than a handful during my time there. Everyone seemed to be doing their own thing. From your traditional purists on drys to one or two pulling lures. I caught two or three on a floating line with a Dawson Olive with a slow figure of eight, but they quickly went off it…so reverted to the bung. I normally do very well with Eggstacy blobs u see the bung, but as the bung method is so effective I
Lovely fish, nice video. I ask this question only because I'm curious and don't want to get caught out, is that method ok to fish at a fly only fishery ? I'm thinking could be akin to worm fishing under a float ? Just wondering cos I can't wait to try it !
Pennine is a fly only fisher and these flies are used all over the country, except at my local club fishery, which does not allow, fabs, squirmy wormy, large lures, eggs etc. Check the waters rules first, regards MD
Hi at this location just 10ft of 8lb fluorocarbon its virtually invisible. If am going for distance with the line 1st section 12lb flo at 6/7 ft and then add on 3/4ft 8lb flo. Trout here run to 30lb, so no point going lower than 8lb. Thanks for the comment and watching Regards MD
what day did you go? looks very quiet for Pennine. usually when I visited it is rammed. lots of big fish there, so always a treat when you hook into a double figure fish.
Hi PDC This is a Saturday about late may, strict booking now, so only so many allowed at anyone time. Think its 16 -18 any day, which gives loads of space for everyone. Thanks for watching Regards MD
If the soft plastic of a squirmy worm is legal, I don't see why conventional soft plastics used by lure anglers aren't, such as a soft plastic worm, larvae or pupa etc, as long as they are on a barbless fly hook. But I guess the "Match the hatch" fur and feathers brigade would be up in arms about that
Yes that's correct Peter. I've been talked to by the Fly Fishing Police 🚓🚨 about some of my methods and they say some are not the correct old fashioned way, wow 😲 I said and you people started 2 World Wars. Jog on. Regards MD
You can get the white material from kindale flies on eBay. That's what I did and just feed it onto a beaded hook. You can buy the fly, but this method lets me change the colour of the worm without cutting the leader. Thanks for watching Regards MD
Hi Ian Don't know, I put a bead on the hook and held it in place with some uv resin. It was meant for river fishing but I tried it here instead. Thanks for watching Regards MD
Gutted for you, MD. Just fell short. Wasn’t a great and not a lot in it all. Coulda gone either way. I’m sure next season the Terriers will be strong. Loved the Vid, mate. As always

Simple as that, straight to the point, if it ain't broke, carry on sir.kind regards Mike. Norfolk.
Correct Mike, trout don't always eat fancy flies. Regards MD
Brilliant blog gave me an idea for a special day out soon thanks regards steve.

Started my fly fishing at Pennine fishery over thirty years ago. I fly fish all over the world now.

I'll definitely take you up on that invitation MD 👍and well done for beating me mate 🏆 😂
If I get sporting tickets catch and return we can get 8hrs + on the water. Text me some dates for June or July and I will booked it. My Treat.
Many thanks…perfect analysis of how you fished the Shammy. Used the method at Kilnsey… 20+ in a half day session!
Well done Ray, how did the other anglers get on ? Did they do 20+ on what they were using. Regards MD
