Let me remind you that in March 2022, Russians and Ukrainians agreed on peace. Russia has pledged to withdraw troops from Ukraine (and has begun withdrawing from the vicinity of Kiev) In exchange for Ukraine's commitment not to join NATO. But the Western delegation in Kiev forbade Ukraine to end the war, since the main goal, the weakening of Russia, has not been achieved.
@championknife I agree with the west stepped in and stopped peace talks. Very true, Russia did have to invade in the first place. I get why Putin was upset with the west, but he still invaded. What we both need to do is stop invading or fund proxy wars.

I think the railroad makes a great defensive line, like a fortification. And it is built along a ridge top. The Ukrainians would need to attack from both sides simultaneously to have a good chance, because the Russians have good defenses from either side.

It seems that we are seeing a single Russian brigade attack and make progress against two or three Ukrainian brigades. That is not how it is supposed to work is it?
From what I can tell, it's the FABs that are causing so much damage. Fortunately for Ukraine, FABs are not THAT plentiful, so Russia has to pick and choose where to get the best use of them. This video implies that this town was the target they used them for, for reasons explained in the video.

The battalion strength of the Ukrainians has been attrited to about 40%. With this erosion of personnel it is easy to see why the Russians have such great success against these depleted formations.
And it is not just the quantity. Every man in a (well trained) squad is specialized on sharp shooting, mines, heavy machine gun, first aid, com/nav or whatever. Each man lost is an entire capability reduced from expert level to amateur for the entire squad.

Ocheretyne: RU extended way out there with thin buffers on their supply lines - a great opportunity for the Kiev regime to show they have reserves enough to counter attack with a possible caldron in play.
Big if because now they the AFU (Ukraine ) already lost the ISR advantage they had , now on the front the Russians dominate the ISR intelligence with drones and standoff fabs . If Ukrainians leave their trenches to start flanking and Russian mobile artillery and MLRS which trust me will spot this movement well that unit doing the flanking will have a very shitty experience attempting to make any mobile warfare under so much overwhelming firepower on the Russian side .
The last time the Ukrainians left their trenches to push forward well Zaporozhia counteroffensive happened and they got fucked .
And last year the Ukrainians where much more well equipped and capable
