My daughter loves Panda Express orange chicken. Made the dish tonight using my AP seasoning of course, dish was a hit. Daughter asked for seconds and gave it a thumbs up 👍🏿. Will be making it again this Saturday.
2nd quick fry before the sauce will make them stay crispy in the sauce (and for leftovers). Keep in mind the sauce has sodium already, so don’t over season the chicken and coating.
Oh my goodness. I made this for dinner tonight. My daughter and I love PE’s orange chicken but Lord only knows what all is in it. This is ten times better! So good! I left out the fresno pepper. Doubled the sauce and used some on my vegan daughter’s faux popcorn chicken thingies lol! Jasmine rice and roasted broccoli went with it. So glad I made extra - now I don’t have to cook tomorrow night! This is where I come when I need dinner ideas, because all of your recipes are awesome.

The buttermilk soaked chicken was ridiculously tender, the sauce was the perfect combination of tangy and sweet (I added a little heat with a touch of cayenne pepper). The coating was the perfect amount (not too much..not to little). I just kept waiting for a bad experience somewhere in the meal…it never happened. I was disappointed that I was full and this amazing orangey delicious-deliciousness HAD to be over. I guess that was the only bad experience in the whole meal. And we’re talking about MY cooking!!!!!!! 🥰

Your recipe is great a different version yummy I mix my chicken with a little bit of baking soda I would love to copy cat McDonald’s fish sandwich and PF Chang shrimp fried rice keep bringing these yummy food recipes
Made this tonight. Chicken came out great. Seasoning was right on. But when I made the sauce it came out soooo sweet. Not sure where I messed up there.
@@MrMakeItHappen It came out great. I did make a few changes though. I substituted the quarter cup of water for more orange juice, and did the same with the cornstarch slurry. I also couldn't find fresno chilies, but I had a bag of dried japones chilies, so I used four of those along with about half their seeds. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
I was hoping it was the Orange Chicken at Cheesecake Factory. i think you need to do several recipes from there. However, I would love to see you do a copycat of their Steak Diane, Miso Salmon and the Jamaican Black Pepper Shrimp dishes. Thanks Matt!
I made this nearly to spec. Only thing I was missing was green onions for topping which not needed and i used dried chiles in the sauce. The slurry goes a long way so just need a little bit like he said to thicken the sauce. Only thing is a little overated is using a lined pan. Next time I may just leave the pieces in the dredge bowl. I learned the hard way not to put a bunch in at once otherwise the texture will be spongy. I bought a mini cast iron wok for frying and a large pan with a wire rack. It took awhile to make them in small batches so when the chicken got too cool after I put them in the sauce I put them back on the tray and put them in the oven at 200 for about 10 min then came out warm and was juicey. The texture was amazing. I used Tony Cacheres for the seasoning in the buttermilk bowl and in the dredge
