There’s just nothing that everlast makes that I really like. To me their cheap entry level bag mitts are probably the only thing worth while. Everything else other companies do way better for less money. Only thing everlast has is the ability to fill up retail stores. Which I appreciate it because it grows the sport and makes it accessible for hobbyists.

The old MX stuff is good. Especially the fight gloves. I have protex 3 16oz trainers in layered foam and the gel versions. Both are great for bag work and have finger compartments that roll all the way over so you punches land over the knuckles. I wish the old MX gloves had the same longer finger compartment because they have much better leather qualify. Don't have any of the powerlock gloves because I already own a lot of Winning pairs.

Also I really like the protex3 fight gloves they are like an older Grant fight glove profile with crazy wrist padding. The leather on Grants is better but this leather is not bad at all. The protex3 fight gloves have the best wrist padding I've ever seen on a fight glove. I own pairs in all three colors. They are like 10oz training gloves, but horse hair and most of the foam padding is on the wrist.

I bought the hook and loop version of these and I can concur the comfort issues your experiencing I can relate. As far as wrest support I think it’s better on the lace up version. But overall I do like them it’s just gonna take awhile to break them in.

    Hi Carlo
    great video as always .
    I am the MX2 Velcro 16oz.
Definitely agree with all the pros and cons.
So for the stiff tight need to break in issue,
I let some of my heavyweight training partners borrow these for about 3 days help speed up things .
I also stuff a medium size towel inside the gloves over the weekend .
I'd definitely say, it's 9/10 quality after they're broken in well.
I'd say, the wrist support is a 8.5/10
The feedback and pop on the mitts and bags is 10/10
For the overall package at the price point .
I'd say it's a bit overpriced to be honest .
Like $179-199 would be more fair .

same quality thing with Reyes.. In 1 year I bought 4 pairs of Reyes. one pair I have sold and 1 pair I switch for velcro. lace up dosen't have any ventilation holes on the palm and they are not so good for conditiong. I usual clean piping and everything after training so I decide to switch 14 for 14 velcro. It became I had 2 velcro 14oz and first one are not as well made as the second one. They were not equal to each other like they should. Similar thing that with these MX2 you have. The second one's are hell of a gloves and much better. Extra padding also, quality is top notch . lace up version I switched were also top. It might be just a question of the MX2 pair that you got. I had same experience with fairtex bgv9 .I also bought 3 pairs in one year. First one were the best. Leather and the foam held well. I sold them after while and became sad and wanted another one.Just becouse of colour. The second pair I sold also. Leather was not so good.It started to crack and foam start to boble. I decide to sell after 3 months and gave them another shot with 3rd pair.. Same thing as the second pair.. With first pair I didn't had any isiues .I just wanted diferent colour.

Hey Carlos - hope you’re well and if reading this thank you for your time and dedication on these reviews.
I’m looking for a glove recommendation as a heavyweight boxer for technical work and speed work on a heavy bag. I have 14oz gloves, 18oz gloves, and even 20oz gloves that go up to 40oz with small weights. My 14oz gloves need replacing and I’m inclined to go with a smaller glove.
I keep being pointed to Cleto Reyes and Rival’s products but in my research keep finding comments and reviews advising people not to buy them and that the quality has changed. That the Cleto gloves aren’t what they used to be and the Rival gloves feel like a cheap glove and need replacing only a few months down the road.
I checked out No Boxing No Life, contacted Grant, and considered Winnings but those are out of my budget. I’m searching for glove feedback which I don’t really find I get from my Hayabusa T3s. Also with Rival gloves I’ve tried, my wrapped hands were way too constricted inside the glove.
Apologies for the long comment but I’m stuck and spending way too much time on this. What gloves would you recommend for technical work on a heavy bag that aren’t above 14oz?

Ok…..so for the gloves…they are still small in the wrist and palm strap area which fatigued my hands so fast and had my hand cramping.I have a blister on the top tip of my left pinky now after 1 training session from the denim inside rubbing on my pinky. The stitching inside i did feel but was able to ignore once i was banging bags. Great leather n smell n look but they need to be in the 130$ range tops!! The groin protector was ok but runs small and the velcro was messing my shorts up, surprisingly the headgear which i had no hope for at this point was surprisingly the best item of the new mx2 lineup. Vision is very clear almost as if i just have a cheek protector on. So im torn between calling everlast n ripping a new one or just letting this go….p.s. i have two medium sized powerade bottles in my gloves while im not using them to try n stretch them out but its a here we go again feeling. I have both mx generation and will be doing a video on both now soon.

Do not like the look of these new MX gloves. They look like 16oz fight gloves. All my original MX stuff is great. The thumb looks way too short for a 16oz training glove. Even you are having a problem and you're not a big dude. Leather looks good though. I perfer the way the older MX red leather popped vs this matte red though.

Just tried a pair of Velcro 16Oz and I think luckily the pair I have does not have serious thumb issues and the left pair is more comfortable than the right pair. The overall the hand compartment's comfort is worse than the old generation MX but to me these are acceptable. The key thing which is indeed unacceptable is there is almost "zero" wrist support with the Velcro version - when you tie the velcro on, there is still a lot of room between your forearm and the glove's wrist area which make it almost no support. Don't know how come this happen in a newly released glove in 2021 ~ 2022, which most of the gloves manufactures improved wrist support and this should not be an issue. Everlast should consider to introduce their Powerlock 2 wrist system into MX2 or the later is really a disaster.

I bought two pairs of these: white and gold. The white ones have the same issue Carlo's had with the finger compartment on the one hand being too small to where I had to really work to get my fingers to the end of the glove and when I got them there it was uncomfortable as hell. The gold ones do not have this problem and while there's a level of discomfort it isn't too bad and if I didn't own 100 pairs of gloves I'd sort that out by breaking them in. They're rugged as hell and the leather is super high quality. And it is cool having an Everlast product given the history and all of the pro's that you see wearing them every weekend. You can do way better as a buyer, though...you have dozens and dozens of better choices. New Sporting, Campeon, Torres Medina, Sabas (and the brands they make gloves for like Bryant, Salvador, Leaders) and lots more...no sense wasting your time and money on these and now you can't say you didn't know better before the purchase.
