Even if something ends up sucking with this, the mechanical mechanism, the cameras, the skin it's still worth having the first phone the truly resolves the issue with where to put the cameras and almost 100% bezel-less phone. Definitely will be adding this one to the collection to keep forever.

From what I've seen so far the highlight of this phone is the pop-up camera and the AMOLED screen, but lets not forget all the compromises it has compared to most 2018 smartphones.

I'm conflicted because i really want to buy this phone, but because of the cool camera popping out, i think that it makes the phone *very* fragile. Software bug = you can't unlock your phone because the notch wont open, your phone fell/bumped = the moving parts for the notch got messed up. Very cool phone, but i doubt that it's reliable

You have to have a back-up method anyway e.g a code or password. My issues is more keeping it clean and making sure dust/dirt doesn't get inside the phone. Considering phones used to slide and flip and they were still durable enough so I wouldn't be worried about the mechanism/moving parts

But, I guess they are more about throwing everything at you in software but they started changing the hardware game with the curved screens but they kind of stopped there. Either way I want on just to pop them cameras all day long! Lol

Samsung already makes arguably the best Android phones with basically every possible feature and tiny bezels without needing a notch. I personally don’t want a phone with a moving part, it’s just one more thing to go wrong. I’d rather small bezels with room for everything in the top or bottom bezel.
I’m with you there. The Galaxy S9 is a great design. You have a large screen and you have the entire screen in any app. Don’t get me wrong. I have an iPhone X and you do get used to the notch but it does seem like an unnecessary change.
I remember that OPPO released the N1, had one camera that depending if you use the frontal or rear camera this will rotate.

I feel as though the rear cameras being on the mechanism is unnecessary. It's mechanical, so it's got a much shorter lifespan than a stationary camera setup. And the rear cameras are used a lot more than the front camera for most people, so that lifespan must be pretty bad.

So, what it that slide mechanism is used for speaker as well. Maybe we can get better quality and front facing speakers. To give it more use, a kick stand should be added to the back of the sliding speaker/camera. I think that'll be pretty cool.

you can't call it bezel less because there is a chin and the top popping out is inconvenient because if you want to take a picture you have to wait for the top to pop out and the top is almost always going to be up so it is basically a gs9 with no water resistance no wireless charging no fingerprint scanner no headphone jack and costs $500.00 more

He might be overreacting a bit. but man, when I first touched that phone, I showed the exact same expression! WoW, the touch of the back and the smoothness of the pop-up camera just wow. However, I still bought a vivo nex because i prefer fingerprint and have doubts about pop-up camera opening up that often. Anyway, no need to judge these new phones, at least they are listening to what customers say... maybe apple or galaxy will adapt later and make it better and "trustworthy"

megakoni1 it is very unreliable to have a motorized moving part in the phone, it has a life time not talking about accidents that happen with each phone , what about using a phone case on a phone that will cost $1100
Well it’s not 1 second it’s at least 3 with the Face unlock but even if it is for each time you need to unlock your phone or take an imagine how many minutes per day as an average person unlocks their phones 80 times per day without counting the photos that’s more than 1 hours and a half of your life each day just unlocking your phone, when other phone manufacturers are competing on who can launch the camera app the fastest cause it’s important to be able to capture a photo quickly sometimes.
As for the chin vs notch this is a personal preference of taste, I’m talking about saying that it’s bezel less when it’s not it still has a chin like all android phones do.
Finally about the gestures I’m not sure about blackberry but what about the shameful copy of the whole iOS!!?
And also you disregarded all my other points concerning basic features that are on all other phones and are very beneficial for daily use, I stand by my opinion, it’s a stupid innovation compromising tons of features and reliability.

About the life time. The life time lasts so long that you can keep the phone 5 years even if you use that motor like 100 times a day. If the quality of that motorized part is very good (which I hope for that price), I doubt that it'll be unreliable. Of course there will be exceptions where the device is/gets defective. But you have that with all phones. But even then, that's where the warranty comes into play
Seems cool, but I think I find the retractable camera gimmicky and prone to break if it's dropped and also not sure how that would work with a case. Though I'm pretty sure that it would lose the water resistance that other competitors have to the mechanism.

I think Samsung is going to do an in display camera, the pixels around the camera turn off when it needs to be used. This is possible just not sure if it currently is...
