This was GREAT CNBC!!! Thank you for not featuring another UA-camr! That was getting very old. We want to see stories like this, not UA-camrs or people who make all their money by selling dreams to other people i.e. "money coaches etc." and the "I teach people how to earn money from what they already know" etc.
The best part about this video is the fact that he gets used clothes to make his shirts! I’m glad all those shirts are getting a second life and thanks to him, there is less trash in the landfill!!! 👏🏼👏🏼
he "answered a craigslist ad" after his dad told him to "sort out his finances" what do you think happened. He walked in there and became the biz owner lol.
This was a great summary on what it takes to launch a brand from the ground up. The founder of Snow Milk is a true StreetCrafter. Now that he has an audience he needs to launch products at different price tiers and not be solely focused on upcycled screen printed designs. This video gives him a great platform to expand into accessories and build solid collections using blanks that have more consistent stock.
I mean, he better *punch it* while he can...I'm sure he's probably adapted to feel that things aren't even on the up for him like they actually are because he's still narrowly dodging poverty by the skin of his teeth, but he needs to grab this thing while he's got the opportunity regardless, and viciously exploit the absolute sht out of it...
Finally a video of someone that I can relate to.. he's the type of cool person that I can go to a bar, talk life and have a few beers with.. shout out to ya brotha.. 😎🙏🏾
I'm just really happy that for once it's not someone making $10k a year on the t-shirts and then $268k a year through UA-cam/Insta/TikTok. Not everyone wants to be an influencer lol.
I like how the video breaks down the costs of various expenses. Customers often don't realize how little profits the owners make after paying for all the expenses involved, including materials, packaging, shipping fees, wages, rent, utilities, etc. People think the owner must be rich in making $278k in sales, not realizing he could make more money working on an hourly wage job. We should all applaud him for his entrepreneurial spirit. What he is able to accomplish so far is a huge achievement, including creating new jobs for his community. I wish him continued success.
I think his "entrepreneurial spirit" is being kept busy so he doesn't compete for real resources and I think we're all being conditioned to settle for the ego pats and "good boys" rather than the steady and unrelenting pursuit and acquisition of actual wealth. He should sell the business to someone who is willing to settle for that or upscale using social media (I know you're tired of it, but he does have endless content generator that people will consume in exchange for advertiser/sponsor $, not to mention the marketing opportunities) or plug a part of that capital into dividend producing investments (until interest rates go down) and the other part into a different business without a profit/growth ceiling. I mean, anyone can make t-shirts, look at tiktok. Literally, $3k I could have a set up in my room, easy. Anyone could steal his designs (including major brands, and this parasitism is literally a part of their business model) and he wouldn't have the capital to defend his copyrights and that's not even to mention when this trend dies in the next 3 years (at most.)
If he’s doing pop-ups, markets, street fairs, etc. that’s seasonal work. Artist & Fleas isn’t open year round. Street fairs aren’t regular either. Markets are usually a weekend thing. I’m not sure how he got the $10k number but it’s probably only reflective of an average week when he’s actively selling in multiple locations. Probably has an off season, usually winter (except the holidays, when there are tons of holiday markets in NYC). Also, the posted figures are reflective of prior years. It’s possible his business has ramped up more this year and the 10k figure may be reflective of this year’s budget.
He has other streams of incoming coming in, including online sales, band ect His income is not solely coming from the tshirts it clearly stated on the video! Got to keep up people and READ the content! 🙄
🎉🎉❤😊 Great Story!.. This reminds me of boutiques, shows, street fairs and the surprises found at one-of-a-kind labels and brands. That's what made me fall in love with fashion, art and beauty many years ago. And to this day, whenever I go shopping, it is always in the hope of finding something unique, one-of-a kind to make it mine.
Funny as an up-and-coming designer and creative w/20+ years in streetwear I also visited his basement in response to a Craigslist ad lmao who would've guessed life really is full circle
This is a really great and inspiring story! I think he meant $10k staff per month though, the math on his chart added to closer to that for employees and labour
Thanks for sharing the video! Most of the clowns on the comments doesn’t get that it takes years for a business to not only break even, but also make a profit! It’s not an easy feat for a small business owner! You are doing your thing and people failed to read that you also have multiple streams of income coming in, this is not your only business venture ! I live in New York and know it’s challenging to sell on the streets & get permits ect ! So if you are doing your thing in New York and getting 1/4 of a million dollars the past year after opening in 2019 that is an amazing feat! Don’t listen to the haters and naysayers, keep it up and you will be a multimillionaire! Next try to negotiate with some of the stores that sells tshirts like yours in the malls & nationwide! I love to see business men & women win! Small businesses keep the economy going! Best of luck & success in your future! 👏🏾👏🏾🙌🏾😊
I agree to an extent. Sports jerseys are more expensive and I've got a few of those. The ugly Kanye/LV/Balenciaga type stuff also is ridiculous but people buy those.
I would love to buy his designs. They look amazing and it's rare to find t shirts with the right colour palette. Most places get it wrong. So worth it. But his body will be wrecked when he is done. Trust me. I know my dad worked at least 360 days a week and now I'm doing the same. Once packaging, electricity, delivery and cleaning costs went up due to inflation we didn't even make 10,000 dollars this year and we don't have the inventory for next year. He is clever to sell his brand when he is making money. The owner always puts in all the work and that is why it is profitable. If he slacked for one minute he would have lost everything. Ppl think business owners make a ton of money. They don't. But they do if they are miserly.
Too many employees.,..he should be making at least 70k per in salary. Has too fine tune process... Taking too much time producing designs on t shirts by hand. Needs to automate or outsource and have a few employees
He doesn’t specify what his employees do. But even if he’s in 4 different locations per weekend (since is sales channel seems to be markets, street fairs, and pop-ups), that’s already 4 employees manning 4 different retail locations. It would’ve been nice to get a break down of what his employees do.
Sorry, the margins are way too low. You could work less hours at MCD and make more money. This guy needs to take a serious look at his business processes lol.
