What I could say to the newcomers to the Monster Hunter franchise is that don't mind much what other people say about the series, most people take a while to be hooked to it. One of the many appeals on the MH series, besides the ridiculously good equipment & monster designs and environments, is that even though you've played the past games, you're still on that journey to find your hunter self, may it be by trying the other weapons you didn't touch before, or simply learning the other things that the game offers you such as building a good armor set on your own. Nah the demo after playing it caused me to want not want the game. I hate the idea of not being able to make my own character but being locked to certain characters that can only use certain weapons. The quintessential monster hunna experience- “ I don’t really like it. I’ll give it another try” no other game really has that feel. Even when you can’t get a 70% item in 5 hunts I can’t stop playing
After 30 hours this game still sucks for me. I have no idea what people are seeing. I tried Rise for about 30 hours and I still have no idea how to play it. It deemed photo mode as something essential to teach. But then I jumped into the missions and realised... I have no Idea how to fight. AAA doesn't know how to make a tutorial... Game should never assume someone has played it or played other games. Just fumbling my way around and now i am level gated and gear gated since it gives no indication what is good and I don't wanna spend 30 mins fighting something again because I wasted something. Plus the UI is so cluttered that it makes my eyes shake that's I can't look at menus.
@@hazelcrisp that sounds like a combination of objective and subjective problems, neither of which I can argue against, but if you are willing to try again- no shame if you aren’t- people like arrekz gaming have good tutorials for weapons (although his are from MH world) or just slapping the training dummy until you find a weapon you like. Monster hunter is a game that expects you to hunt monsters repeatedly, and eventually you can drop times to sun 10 minutes even without upgrading gear.
@unintentionally_edgy5867 i dunno... I tried it cus my ex loves this series so I tried Rise on pc. Never in my gaming history have I felt so lost that I gave up after 2 hours. Like it drops you off in front of the multiplayer quest npc lady. Of course, my instinct is to talk to her. I deleted my save and tried again. I made sure to read all the texboxes it gave me to make sure it wasn't me skipping through cus I just wanted to play. I think games should never assume someone knows how something works. They should assume that they haven't even played other games.30h in and I've never seen a training field or my other weapons. I have all I collected from my hunts before I got levelled locked and I literally cannot beat the next mission since I die in 3 hits. And I dunno how to use the blacksmith since the ui is so cluttered and noisy that my eyes shake making it bad for accessibility and I don't actually know what is good or bad since the menu is so ugly and cluttered. And I don't wanna spend anything since I will have to spend 30 mins killing a thing again. And the dog is useless. The amount of time Indie it only having to get off to jump over something because of an invisible wall. "Good tutorial on youtube" the tutotial should be in game and easily acessible or mandatory for new players. I shouldn’t have to do homework or switch my monitor to youtube to learn how to play. I've just never see a game that requires youtube or other people to teach you basics... like how to fight. It's like if dmc requried players to go online to learn how to fight. Really feels like I wasted 40quid on a game that doesn't even let me play through it and not have a tutorial that every other AAA game devs has gotten really good at intertwining gameplay ajd teaching. Or having it prompt a player to try it or easy to find in the main menu. It gave me a weapon. So it should teach me. Who knows what else I am missing?
In a lot of action games you get stronger purely through character progression. If the game hasn't grabbed you and you aren't paying attention to pop ups you could easily miss it
I think he was playing up his lack of interest for mh games so that he could create this "I finally get it!" Narrative for the video. You actually have to be brain dead to miss the crafting in a mh game. So either hes playing or hes dumb af
Wholesome this feels like china saying killing everything and calling it medicenal is ok . And also more sadistic then wholesome . But hey change my mind
I think I'd rather stick to Monster Hunter Stories. Ultimate 4 and Generation were way too brutal, I didn't like it and always felt bad even though they are invasive to the environment
As a veteran of this series, im super goddamn glad that this game is now to the point of both being mainstream and accessible enough for new players to get into, but also challenging enough (atleast in the endgame) to be a good ol fight for us og mh players.
@@gamechanger8908 I feel like the older games were challenging for the wrong reasons. Slow clunky combat mixed in with dodgy hit boxes and monsters damaging you purely by adjusting their position. It's not something I want to return to. I've been playing since Tri on the Wii and played every installment since (including going back to unite on the PSP) and while I have fond memories of them I just can't go back. Maybe the newer games have softened me up but this is the most fun I've had with monsta hunna
@@gamechanger8908 the games were challenging back then because Plesioth could hip check you into another dimension, but we played the games regardless of the hitboxes and clunky controls, over the years the game has gotten more accessible, tuned and clean, it's not that it's gotten easier, you've just gotten better and the games aren't as broken as they were in the past.
@@Sikt The hit-boxes in the older games (such as Freedom Unite) were falsely represented and made for frustrating fights. I am sure that the combat being quicker does make the series a little easier in the later installments, but that can be fixed by devs with faster/smarter movesets for monsters. Don’t kid yourself and say the old games were more fair or harder in the best way.
it’s a masterpiece this game was a gamble game for me bc i have never played a Monster Hunter game before. after 90 hours of gameplay, i am super happy to say that i was dead wrong. i am now a fan
I felt the same way about this series, even for the same reasons. I should've loved this franchise, on paper it's got everything I like in games. I'm glad I gave it one more chance, this game is awesome and addicting.
Monster hunter is an amazing series once you put a couple hours in. I didnt enjoy it at first but after 10 hours it slowly became my favorite series of all time.
same, friend. i tried really hard to get into 4, because the systems looked like they'd be enjoyable but the first hours were so hard. here i am, 4 entries later, with thousands of hours sank into it
Yep it's that first initial learning curve that turns people off but once you get over that it's an amazing series! I remember when I first played MH4, I didn't know how to do anything. I didn't even know you could get new weapons or armor and was using the default gear all the way through the gore-magala fight 😂 But once I figured out how to get new gear, oh boy I put a lot of hours into it and never regretted it 👍
@Aedrius 0 I have a feeling that with time Rise will be better than World, but as far as launches goes, World wins. Because it was actually a complete game at launch. This first "free dlc" that's coming in a few days isn't *additional* content on top of the game. It's just the *rest* of the game, that should have been in the game from launch. In all previous titles high rank have had up to Rarity 8 gear. And have had unlocked HR. And have had a finished weapon tree. Rise at launch doesn't have any of that, it's an unfinished high rank. We only have access to Rarity 7 gear and we can *see* the rest of the weapon tree behind a locked questionmark tree. We're not even earning HR points at all, so the people that have been playing 300h and the people that have been playing 50h will still all be HR8 when the HR cap gets removed. It's because of all that that I say I wish they postponed the release a month, so we could have a finished product to play at the get go. And we could be looking forward to additional free content instead of having to look forward to the rest of the game. It's like we're just playing a reeeally big demo rn.
@@halosaft I honestly did not know about those things because I have been too busy to sink enough time into the game to reach the top of high rank so far. While it has not affected me I agree that is a shame fir Monster Hunter Rise compared to earlier games. However, they did still deliver a great game in terms of mechanics and I have yet to encounter any serious bugs that ruin my enjoyment. I agree it is better to release the game when it's complete, but if there's a lack of content that is released within a month rather than big flaws seen in so many other games I am OK with it.
@@jonasawi Yeah, I have probably played 150h in Rise, knowing that the ending is unfinished I took my time with it before hitting HR7, plus I've helped my gf get through the game as she got it later. So I've basically played it twice. But it's sad because with every other release I've put even more time after this long post release. With MHW I probably had close to 250h after this long. But because it's unfinished I can't find much reason to play, I don't earn HR points yet, I don't want to waste my materials on melding Rarity 7 talismans because we're probably going to get Rarity 8 soon and there's not much point in min-maxing your sets because we've not gotten the rest of the weapon trees yet. I've still been farming some materials and simply saved them for future melding instead of using them immediately though. Like I said, I like the game and think it'll be great with time, it's just the state of it's launch I have a problem with. Speaking of major bugs there was a bug with the purchable dlc that caused people to not even be able to play their savefile again until they fixed it (they fixed it a few days ago though, so now people can play again) and Dango Bombardier is bugged and doesn't work for bowguns at all, so any bowgun user who's eating that in their meal is wasting a slot. A funny bug is that Dango Defender is called Dando Defender. Not a major thing, just funny.
@Aedrius 0 I doubt we would reach MHGU of monsters that's pushing it to the limit, in 4u we had 72 monsters in iceborne we had 71 and gu we got 93 we had that many because it was a celebration for the last generations
When I got MHW for my birthday , i legitimately got to Anjanath , never touched it again and sold it . About 5 months later while at GameStop , I have the game another go since I really wanted to understand why the series was so popular in Japan . I ended up being addicted to it the second go lmao
I always get the same story whenever i encounter someone who initially didn't like monster hunter. Something about it didn't grab them or they just didn't like the combat. But then they push on and have this moment, this one moment where everything just 'clicks' for them. And it is always the monsters. Their designs, patterns, behaviors and attacks. The monsters are the main star of Monster Hunter. You only look good, because THEY look good.
Many years viewing this content and I am still hooked. Love it man! Thank you so much for putting out wonderful content. Before I do pretty much anything I check and see if you have a video for it cx
Opinion: I kinda want to make everyone understand that monsta hunna's appeal is kinda like how souls like games have faithful fans. The only reason why this game is not being renowned for its difficulty is because strategy type players can find creative ways to make the game easier (or in their terms "cheese" the game) . I hated monsta hunna the first time I played it (my first monsta hunna game was monsta hunna woold) rurikhan (mildy famed monsta hunn player and makes some amazing guides for the game, I could consider him one of the best hunters around) admitted that he himself hated monsta hunn the first time he played it. Monsta Hunna is a complex game but once you break that initial barrier of entry oh boy! are you in it for a treat :)
I feel that RISE has one thing that even WORLD missed, and that’s CHARM. This is at the level of Animal Crossing. I’m elated that they went this way, rather than the super realistic of World. And I don’t blame ya for “not getting it”. A friend of mine, at the beginning, didn’t get it, and sold RISE. He later bought it again, played it properly, and now, HES HOOKED. He gets it! Rise is spectacular, and in my book, may eventually surpass WORLD. Glad you enjoyed it. Also, MONSA HUNNA!?!? You do know that’ll be with you for LIFE! 🤣
considering the lack of story in monster hunter games, its my personal belief that you are meant to make your own stories, like a soldier returning from war telling his friends and family about his victories.
In a way you are kinda right. Every generation has its legendary hunters. With The 1st generation defeating Lao Shan king all the way to the 5th generation beating the sapphire star.
"Slower and clunkier than Dark Souls" Are you talking about the Original PS2 Monster Hunter? Because World was the smoothest it's ever been until Rise. I'm trying to imagine him play 4U and then complaining about World lol.
Slower than darksouls? Clunkier than darksouls? Yeah maybe the old games, but since world came out and especially with rise, id say the souls borne games are now slower and clunkier than the two newest monster hunter games, bloodborne less so, but the dark souls games themselves 100%
I could not stop laughing at you responses 😂😂 but to tell you the truth I am not a fan of this series at all basically because the controls suck to me and even now on the newer ones like this one I am not an fan of a game that has your character a mute who doesn't speck and who mostly has a blank look on his or her faces most of the time! 😠😠 give me mass effect with that perfect dialogue anytime!!!! yeah
the thing that draws me to the monster hunter games is the feeling of mastery you get after learning your weapon and the monster and how the 2 interact where you're able to go into a hunt and know exactly how the monster will move and how to respond to it
Anomaly Investigations are a problem. it was already ify when they had the quro version of every monster...considering it was a 4th time hunting the same monsters... but then they have the gull...to force players to grind to procede? and no one is complaining about this? the games are good enough for people to naturally play for many hours without artificial padding. where are the Anomaly Investigations are a problem videos? it is disappointing they turned a good game into a time waster. and people just accept it. like it is okay, when it isn't.
Monster Hunter was always a series I wanted to get into, but never could. Tried Tri on the Wii, World on PS4, but Rise is the one that just clicked. It's definitely a game that is hard to put down and has me going, "One more hunt" all the time
Why so many people seem to have some sort of disdain or prejudice towards MH but once they try it out they suddenly love the franchise sinking 100+ hour into a game without noticing? I don’t get where the hate comes from
You just don't know how to play. The moment you understand how to use weapon and you starting to understand movements of monster that will be the breakpoint where u cant stop playing mh
It’s almost same game as dantles by epic games and you already like that game as you mentioned it on your best free games on switch I don’t know why the no liking this game it’s almost same thing.

It’s the same reason why I don’t play Minecraft all the time I only play it occasionally with friends.
@@Name.......... bruh you never seen a monster hunter game

The improved mobility in MH Rise is a true game changer. I wasn't sure about the wire bugs before release, but they have made the entire experience ridiculously more fast paced and fun
When I tried the wire bugs in the demo, I was thinking it take a while to get used to them. Now it's second nature using them.
Still hope this is not every future game I like getting Fuked when not timing my chunky slap well

@@gamechanger8908 yeah yeah am just hoping they don't drop the lid sometime down the line and we get God Eater movement haha
not that I dislike God Eater XD
Wait....You can pet your dog and high five your cat?!? HOW!? HOW DID I MISS THIS?!?
Use the wait command and options will pop out. You can also pet the cahoot.
I'm confused as to how you missed the crafting aspect when trying out earlier titles but I'm glad you're enjoying the game now!
In a lot of action games you get stronger purely through character progression. If the game hasn't grabbed you and you aren't paying attention to pop ups you could easily miss it
Yeah it's absolutely impossible to miss? He must have done a max of like one fight in the other games
I think he was playing up his lack of interest for mh games so that he could create this "I finally get it!" Narrative for the video. You actually have to be brain dead to miss the crafting in a mh game. So either hes playing or hes dumb af
the most wholesome part of this whole game is imagining the animators making all of those dog and cat (or palamute and palico) animations

Monster hunter is not for everyone... it is a “hard” game and requires a lot of investment to learn the mechanics.
And friends
I think I'd rather stick to Monster Hunter Stories. Ultimate 4 and Generation were way too brutal, I didn't like it and always felt bad even though they are invasive to the environment
As a veteran of this series, im super goddamn glad that this game is now to the point of both being mainstream and accessible enough for new players to get into, but also challenging enough (atleast in the endgame) to be a good ol fight for us og mh players.
Missed the good ol days of the games being challenging from low to G, but then again the older games aren't going anywhere.
@@Sikt no the game absolutely had clunky combat don't kid yourself with nostalgia goggles.

MONSTTA HUNNA BOIIIZ
WE DEM BOIIIZZZ
I didn't even know you could get new weapons or armor and was using the default gear all the way through the gore-magala fight 😂 But once I figured out how to get new gear, oh boy I put a lot of hours into it and never regretted it 👍
Aint nobody got time for that, I got bills to pay. I wish I had time to try to get into it.
@@rustyshackleford6633 Damn. If you don’t have 10 hours of free time, you must be super busy.
@@rustyshackleford6633 i hope you can earn yourself some free time soon. I will say, it being on Switch helped me massively in that regard
They really outdid themselves with rise! I'm a long time MH fan and have never been disappointed with a MH game so far 😄
They really should have postponed the release a month though so we could get the finished product~
Not gonna lie, I was ready for a cat food ad there in the beginning
I always get the same story whenever i encounter someone who initially didn't like monster hunter. Something about it didn't grab them or they just didn't like the combat. But then they push on and have this moment, this one moment where everything just 'clicks' for them. And it is always the monsters. Their designs, patterns, behaviors and attacks. The monsters are the main star of Monster Hunter. You only look good, because THEY look good.
I was waiting for this for so long.
As a monster hunter vet from freedom unite, it makes me so happy to see more people get into the series
Same.. mhfu too

"Jeff Dunham style" is a phrase I never thought I'd ever hear in my entire life but I'm not disappointed
Opinion: I kinda want to make everyone understand that monsta hunna's appeal is kinda like how souls like games have faithful fans. The only reason why this game is not being renowned for its difficulty is because strategy type players can find creative ways to make the game easier (or in their terms "cheese" the game)
.
Become one of us! One of us! One of us! It’s so hilarious it took this long for you to get the loop of MH 😂😂
"Slower and clunkier than Dark Souls"
Are you talking about the Original PS2 Monster Hunter? Because World was the smoothest it's ever been until Rise. I'm trying to imagine him play 4U and then complaining about World lol.
Been a fan since 3 ultimate on 3ds. I love that the series is getting this much appraisal and love.
"cat make me dango" hahahaha that really cracked me up
Slower than darksouls? Clunkier than darksouls? Yeah maybe the old games, but since world came out and especially with rise, id say the souls borne games are now slower and clunkier than the two newest monster hunter games, bloodborne less so, but the dark souls games themselves 100%
Glad the series finally clicked with you! Everyone has that moment where MH just makes sense.
😠😠 give me mass effect with that perfect dialogue anytime!!!! yeah
the thing that draws me to the monster hunter games is the feeling of mastery you get after learning your weapon and the monster and how the 2 interact where you're able to go into a hunt and know exactly how the monster will move and how to respond to it
I agree with you 100%. It's almost like a dance between the hunter and the monster, it's beautiful
It's definitely a game that is hard to put down and has me going, "One more hunt" all the time
Watching this video again because right now monster Hunter rise is $39.95 aud on the Aussie eshop until 26/6/22 not an ad just letting y'all know lol
I love how this went from talking about the game to a failed Binging with Babish 😂 great stuff Wood 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Why so many people seem to have some sort of disdain or prejudice towards MH but once they try it out they suddenly love the franchise sinking 100+ hour into a game without noticing? I don’t get where the hate comes from
The wirebug and verticality makes this feel like BOTW for MonHun. I'm enjoying it too much.
Honestly BOTW could learn from monster hunter rise with how good the vertical movement feels
The combat being clunkier than Dark Souls is just factually wrong
