I work in the CVICU and I rarely get this good of a report. Kudos for passing on the proper way to new folks. I've gained some tips from this as well that I plan on incorporating. One section I would add is endocrine to include labs and blood sugar checks.

Hey george!! Yes great idea thank you for adding this. CVICU is a whole other beast I have so much respect for! My hospital had a separate cardiac ICU that I never even got to step foot in.

In my ICU, its normal to mention pertinent lab results, serial labs, and what electrolytes I have replaced. For example, if a patients H/H is trending down, this would be good to know. Or if someone has a low K that has been replaced, that's also good to know. Etc. :))

Hello! I am starting orientation In the PICU next month and I was wondering if you can give some preparedness tips. For example, any good reference materials like good pocket books or review books. Also, any other suggestions on how to approach pediatric patients and their family in the setting. Thanks!

Hi Thaly, welcome to the PICU world! Congrats on starting off in one of the hardest (but rewarding) units. Check out the Manual of Pediatric Critical Care.
