    I’ve been wanting to cloth diaper since baby #1. Family discouraged me because of all the washing they remember having to do. So I went the easy route. At baby #3 I finally made the switch. So glad I did.

    I just want to say a massive thank you. I had some prefolds that o was going to donate and then I found your videos at the perfect time. We’ve been having leak after leak and was verging on giving up and we’ve given prefolds another go. This video is awesome and perfectly timed!!!! Giving the modified pad fold a go today!!

      I hope you’re able to find a working solution 🙏🏼 Prefolds can sometimes be finicky. I’ve gone through spurts of loving them and then wanting to sell them all lol

    I have a very heavy front wetting newborn and have resorted to pad folding as the jelly rolls leave his entire bottom soaked. I am so wanting to break out my larger prefolds and try out the modified folds. Thank you for the continued inspiration to keep pushing on!

      It’ll be bulky on a newborn but it’ll definitely shifts a lot of the absorbency where you need it. I hope it works out for you! ❤️

    I wish u would post more often lol! Why is this this so entertaining? It’s insane! Will u be doing a video on fitteds? Maybe a video specifically on night time options?

    • @JaysNest

      I wish I could post more often. I would’ve posted another video this week but everyone was puking and had diarrhea. My husband was in the hospital too 😳 it was a rough week. My goal is 2-3 videos a week but sometimes I barely do 1 lol. I have a lot of pre recorded videos I’m editing for April! So hopefully there will be regular content ❤️
      I’m not a huge fan of Fitteds for one size diapering. I like them for the newborn stage though. Fitteds don’t always absorb the most, they’re expensive, and don’t wash as well. I did just post a video on my nighttime solution!

      Oh no! I hope everyone feels better soon. How did U manage a video in the midst of all that? Kudos to your dedication to your channel👍🏻

    I been looking for a video like this because I had no idea how to use the longer prefolds for my 10 month old baby! Thank you sooo much💕

    If I didn’t come across this video I wouldn’t have realized the burp cloths my mom gifted 3 years ago for my first child are prefold diapers. I remember they said cloth diapers on the packaging (they’re Gerber brand). My second child doesn’t fit the pocket diapers I bought yet so this is a good option for me right now. I’m tired of buying disposable diapers when all this time I already had these!

    If you need an extra boost in absorbancy can you put an extra muslin or prefold between the cover and the Nappy? We use a mixture of angel folds, jelly fold and newspaper folds so could we do that and then a pad fold in the cover to give the extra absorbancy? Or would it be best to use a regular booster like you would with say a pocket Nappy?

    Do the clips stay?? I have cloth diapered before, but this time doing completely full time from birth and I want to use only prefolds and then use our one size cloths that have the pockets for insert, once baby is a bit bigger.

    It would be nice to see a video about flat folds what they are called and how they are done. I do mine with a fabric ruler to insure that I am getting the diapers the right size every time. I also came up with my own fold but not sure if its been done before.

      Jess Is Blessed has a great video about a bunch of flat folds! Tons of folds I’ve never ever heard of or tried.
      It’s definitely worth checking out ❤️

    6mpp i always feel like diaper is too tight or too loose its hard and looks like it digs in or too loose and will leak so frustrating

    This might seem like a silly question but coming from someone who hasn’t used prefolds yet. Do you always use a cover on top of the prefold? From a newborn age to older? Or can you get away with just using the prefold if you use an Angel fold?

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  4 роки тому

      Yes I always use a cover. A cover keeps this system waterproof. Without the cover the pee would go through the prefold and then leak onto the bed, clothes, and anything it touches.
      You can always go coverless If your baby’s bottom needs some airing out, but just be mindful that leaks can happen without a cover 😊💖

      Jay's Nest so could you reuse the cover without washing it if it gets wet? I’m trying to wrap my head around it all. We’re expecting our first and I’m trying to work out whether I use prefolds or get the other cloth nappy options. There seem to be so many choices I find myself getting confused! Thanks for replying Jay 😊

    I love your videos, they're so informative and you have such a soothing voice. I wanted to say though, I'm not sure if it's because I've got sensory processing issues but I found this one a bit more difficult to watch as the background music seemed a little loud and therefore distracting. Won't affect me following you but just thought I'd let you know 💕

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  5 років тому

      I always keep music to eat the background noise lol but in this video I did keep it louder than most videos. I always wonder if the music is annoying but no one has ever commented on it.
      So I appreciate the feedback!

    I don’t like the bikini fold either. It seems like the others do a better job holding in everything.

    What fold is best for a boy?

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  5 років тому +2

      I don’t think there are folds better for girls or boys, instead I refer to it as front wetters or center wetter. (I’ve also never cloth diapered a boy)
      When I was learning about cloth people always referred to girls as back wetters. None of my girls pee in the back lol. They’re all front wetters... and people always said that only boys pee in the front- which wasn’t true for me.
      If your baby is a front wetter then the modified pad fold and newspaper fold would be a great place to start and see if they work for you! ☺️

    • @mikaylacarpenter3639
      @mikaylacarpenter3639 5 років тому

      Boys, because of the placement of their penis are usually front welters, girls are usually middle or back wetters but every child is different.

    A few questions from someone who's never used cloth diapers ever :
    - Why use any other fold than a simple pad fold? It just seems so simple this way
    - If you do just another fold, is the snappi always necessary as the cover could maintain it in place?

    • @JaysNest
      @JaysNest  4 роки тому +4

      A pad fold isn’t great at containing poop in a cover. Other folds (that are wrapped around baby) do a much better job at containing poop inside the prefold so that it doesn’t get onto the cover. I love the pad fold and don’t use anything outside of it ofte .
      You don’t have to use a snappi. Some people don’t use it and they have no issue. It’s just a personal preference

    • @lindaedwards9624
      @lindaedwards9624 4 роки тому +2

      Because the other folds are much better at containing ebf poop so you don't have to use a new cover every single time. Now if your child is one of those ones who rarely poop or if their already having plopable poops then it wouldn't matter what fold you used. Or if you already have plenty of covers to wash and not worry about running out. But if you are just starting out cloth diapering on a budget and your little one poops like mine did at that age, then the jelly roll and the angel wing fold (always with the legs rolled in after it is on baby) are real life savers. After they get so big, it doesn't really matter and honestly my son now wouldn't let me fold a prefold around him most of the time so now the pad fold or aio's and pockets are all I use.

    Actually a newspaper fold is different from what you showed. It involves folding down the length for the appropriate length as needed. Bringing the sides to the middle without any angle and inserting one side into the fold on the other side. This locks the fold the same way that newspapers are folded for home delivery! You then spread out only the very top layer at the back of the diaper, and bring the back folds around front and fasten to the thick pad at front with snapi, clips, pins or whatever and fasten your cover around the diaper and close them. If you need more absorbancy, place a doubler or pad folded diaper in the wet zone prior to folding down the length of the diaper, and continue the newpaper locking fold. I often folded diapers into a cover and closed cover tightly and placed in diaper bag-ready to be put on baby at next change! Almost like putting on a fresh all in one, and allowed used cover to air out for one diaper change if not soiled, if soiled into a wet bag with the diaper. The Newspaper fold creates a second gusset fan/fold, making the rolling at leg unnecessary. That is also essentially what the twist fold does.

    You're not the only one who doesn't like bikini twist 🙃 I dont even want to try it, it looks so uncomfortable 🤨 I don't want to do this to my baby...
