My mom used to live in their neighborhood. She said sometimes they would get up on their garage and play. She also sold tickets to their shows when they played at the local theater. Years later she and I bumped into Johnny when he came home to visit his mom. We were at the Holiday Inn seeing a friends band. Johnny got invited up and played for 3 hours. Great person and one hell of a guitar player.
Johnny + Edgar singing together is one of the most beautiful things that I have ever heard. To hear them talk about what it was like for them is a treasure for me.
you prolly dont care but if you are bored like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Have been streaming with my brother for the last couple of months :)
Johnny Winter: of the greatest Blues Guitarists Ever! The real real deal. Grass roots, working seven days a week several shows a day - full on real. Just happy to have somewhere to play the blues, and an amp to plug into. Greatest slide player - bar none!
I believe i've read and watch everything i could find since the early 70s on Johnny (and Edgar) - THIS interview is by far the best thing i've ever heard - woh - this is SO intimate and friendly - felt like we are there with them in the living room around a piece of pie...thank you so much for sharing - love you.
@@suzettebavier4412 always wanted to know what was going on in his head, he was always so quiet. I did really enjoy Paul Nelson’s and Johnny’s film “down and dirty”.. it was very good and had a personal touch and showed his crazy side too, even as an old rocker. I really loved him
Both were so talented and rock n roll greats. And so soft spoken and polite, I’m amazed. Their music is light years better than the criminal crap masquerading as music today.
What a wonderfully warm, interesting and happy interview. Stuff I heard I'd no previous awareness of. And this interview is from 1976! Thank you so much for posting this gem.
Fantastic interview laying it out on the old days. Describing how that even with a lot of talent it took a lot of hard yards to break into the major music scene. All of those instant wannabe's on those new Star "Talent" shows should listen to these guys and this interview.
Johnny and Edgar are very talented . Johnny is one of the greatest blues players I've ever heard. Neither one gets the recognition they deserve. Pull up Johnny playing " Johnny B Good. A true masterpiece!!!
Going to see Edgar this summer in Southern Indiana. Canceled! Met Johnny in 2007 on his RV. Told him I’ve been waiting 30 years. He laughed at me and said, what took you so long! Such a great and humble man.
… in 76’’, my brother, aged 17, bought me this album for my 12th birthday, my sisters 15 & 16 got me both 76’, David Cassidy albums. I am so grateful for being taken to an early David Cassidy concert at DAR Constitution Hall in DC, he was really something. As well, taken to several Johnny & Edgar Winter shows before I could drive, the Winter brother’s re formulated my taste in music at a very early age. Long live the Kings of cool.
? Would someone please tell those ROCKIN'ROLL HALL OF FAME FOLKS to consider the Winter's Brother's., They've earned their Spot on the ROCKIN'ROLL map. They had arrived., They're in that Major League too ! God Bless em Amen
That was an awesome interview I'd enjoyed it thoroughly... I got to see Johnny winner in 1980 and and 1997 twice... I saw Edgar Winter in concert around 2007 or so.. He was still great in 2007.. In 1980 Johnny winter was on fire .. It was Johnny John paris and.. I forgot the drummer's name right now but hes awesome
Great interview--love stories of the GOOD OLD DAYS.---got to see Johnny and Edgar in 1969 at the Denver Coliseum and than a number of times through the years after that.--I think Johnny was playing the same white SG Les Paul that I see in the pictures here in this video ---so cool.
Amazing interview - amazing musicians. Edgar just released a terrific tribute album tribute (to Johnny) called “brother Johnny” - it is a wonderful album!
I don't even know how many times I've seen Johnny Winter live. First time was in '73. I've seen Edgar a few times including the Together show. Johnny could hardly even stand during that show. I saw him deteriorate & could hardly play. Then saw him recover & back on top performing. If he came to town, I was there.
That was awesome! I love these guys! I live in southeast Texas so I kinda feel attached to the Winter boys and Janis Joplin. If only I had been younger. Lol
There is a authorized biography (johnny, edgar, etc extensively participated) about johnny (edgar is included of course) - it is called “raisin’ cain “ - it is Super fascinating & funny!!!
I've owned their "Together Live" album on vinyl no less than 3 different times in my life. I still have the album to this very day and still listen to it regularly and often. Their versions of "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" and "Baby Whatcha Want Me To Do" on that album are both impeccable. We definitely lost one of the last true blues guitar giants when Johnny passed in 2014.
The only thing in my life I regret is that I did NOT went to see Johnny Winter live when he was over here a last time in Berlin (2013 or so). I discovered his music now...I knew his name, but just started to listen in 2020. Better later than never.

Cinci Litigator this interview was after his heroin addiction. But yeah- it was a fantastic interview and he did plenty of other drugs and drinking too.
There are people in the Hall of Fame that can not touch the talent level of these two guys.

this is absolutely wonderful, listening to Johnny and Edgar talking in my living room. I thank the woman for not interrupting with too many questions.
That really is admirable of her, isn't it? Love hearing the brothers tell us how things were back then.

I saw Johnny play in Vancouver. He did a set almost three hours long all good
My late mother-in-law told me how Edgar would come over after school and play in her brother's band.
Great interview from two of the most talented guys to ever walk the earth. Thanks for the post!
How can anyone thumbs down this video? These guys are treasures. 🤍🤍
I always think of "those" as the jealous/envious ones 😉
Love the brothers!

As so many have mentioned... these two are treasures, honest, humble and most of all...authentic!

Great interview! allowed us to see the human side of them, and hear how close they obviously were. Priceless
Don't know who she is, but Johnny & Edgar sure seemed relaxed and enjoyed talking to her.
Excellent job.

Photo of when Johnny and Edgar met B.B. at the Raven in Beaumont, Texas around the 5:17 mark!
Fantastic, they really learned their craft the hard way. Great interview.

I was fortunate to see Johnny when he was at his best and unfortunately when he wasn’t .
His playing was a huge influence on me as a guitarist.

The rock n roll hall of fame is a joke - these two guys should have been inducted into it years ago.
Wow Johnny was really engaging and funny before being ravaged by drugs. Really sad.
Cinci Litigator this interview was after his heroin addiction. But yeah- it was a fantastic interview and he did plenty of other drugs and drinking too.
Jeanie Chowdury I did not say anything about heroine. BTW Edgar is still incredibly magnetic. I guess Christian Science kept him out of the bad stuff.
Cinci Litigator, He was engaging And funny after being ravaged by drugs also... Life’s like that
His heroin using days were behind him by the time he did this interview. Emphysema &’some other things made his later life challenging
