Kathy - I was a huge Meatloaf fan when I first heard him. Tommy Johansson's cover of this song is truly exceptional. Before writing my comments, I took in some additional performances, and this dude is first-rate. He has a vocal range, and power and is a skilled guitarist. This was a brilliant submission. Thank you, Kathy. Harri, your review was once again spot-on. Bravo!!!!
Welcome to Tommy Johansson rabbit hole. Tommy did an incredible cover here, he managed to do justice to this iconic song and still make it his own, a something he always does with his covers. He is from Sweden and he is actually already a renown musician on the metal scene, though maybe not among the mainstream audience. He is the guitarist for the famous metal band Sabaton and frontman of his own band Majestica (called ReinXeed before), a band he started over 20 years ago. These covers are something he does for fun and to channel his immense creative energy. If you want to hear one of his own songs which shows even better his amazing range, try his song The Light, a re-recording of the song he first recorded when he was 18, some last year as a celebration od 20 years of his band. Also I recommend Majestica song Above The Sky and his covers Phantom Of The Opera and Eagle Fly Free. Great reaction, looking forward for more 😃
Bravo for Tommy. 👏 Such big shoes to fill in replicating such an iconic Meatloaf song. Tommy's vocals were just as robust and emotion packed as the original with great new instrumentation to showcase his abilities. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Kathy. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Tommy Johansson is the pride of Sweden... he's the co-lead guitarist in Sabaton, has his own band, Majestica and does his YT covers for fun. He's much more than just a guy doing covers! I hope you continue to enjoy his music!
Harri, please stay til the very end of his videos......sometimes he does a cute face or something humorous.......he's quite a character.....and such big talent for a big man .....he's 6'5", a guitar master, keyboard master and ur right, one of the best voices i've ever heard !!......such a pleasant tone and a huge range !!!......please keep doing his videos and you will draw loads of Tommy fans.
Welcome to Tommyworld and Team Tommy. I doubt Tommy will ever put himself into the hands of a producer and be molded. He marches to the beat of his own drums, yeah he's a drummer too. These covers are his private amusement he does to relax in his own time. He arranges, films, edits and mixes his performance himself, sometimes getting some filming help from his GF. His daytime job is a lead guitarist for the power metal band Sabaton. They mainly write their own music.Tommy have done some, but it's mainly composed by the front singer and the bassist. Tommy only doing backvocals in Sabaton. If the band ever covers another band, it's Tommy who makes the arrangement. Take a listen to 1916, a Sabaton cover of Motörhead. He has also made some arrangements for soloworks for Floor Jansen from Nightwish. Recently turned 36,he has fronted his own rock band Majestica, former ReinXeed for over 20 years. In there he composes all music and they have several albums. They doesn't tour as much as he's committed to Sabaton since 2016, but has reached Europe and Japan. He does his weekly cover where he sings all kind of music, putting his own metal twist on it From Bohemian Rapsody til Spice Girls or some pure novelty songs. As for range, you haven't heard all of it. In Phantom of the Opera he takes on both parts and ends up in the stratosphere. In You Rise Me High he performs the whole song an octave above Josh Groban. You just take your pick and sit back and enjoy. PS he strongly dislikes being compared to Meatloaf and it has taken a very long time for fans to persuade him to cover this song. He has steadfastly rejected those suggestions to do it, so it was a big surprise when it was released. Having decided to do it, he is also concerned to do it justice.
That's the secret of his covers. He gives really every song a new freshness and a new spirit but always full of respect to the original. So you are right, you don't have to compare but just enjoy.

Tommy is in 2 bands and has his career. This is his hobby. And a great way to lure people into listening to the other music :-) I prefer to keep Tommy in Majestica and Sabaton and just have these “for fun videos” as a bonus. He sings and plays guitar in Majestica (his own band he have had for 20 years) and is guitar player and backing vocals in Sabaton. If you haven’t listened to Majestica I really recommend that. You can start with Above the Sky, Night Call Girl, Metal United or as we are going into the xmas season something from the A Christmas Carol album there are multiple videos in a playlist from that album. Listen to them in order as they are telling the story about Scrooge. So you have plenty non cover Tommy to listen to. A nice reaction. Ps. If you want to see his full range see Phantom of the Opera, You raise me up (one octave challenge), Carry on and then for the other side Sound of Silence. My favorite cover is The Price.

Forgot She’s gone and for a good laugh and some interesting tones: White Christmas.
This is Tommys way of relaxing when not doing his regular work with Sabaton and Majestica and if you wanna see more of the instruments he plays take a look at "Nu grönskar det" a swedish song he did for midsummer this year.
Don’t you worry about Tommy doing too many covers. He’s involved in so much own stuff it’s hard to keep up. Sabaton, Majestica, Golden Resurection, Memories of old to name a few…
So happy you have found Tommy! He is amazing! Others have already suggested great places to start so I'll reserve my favorite suggestions until later hoping you will continue on this journey! One thing I WILL add is that I agree with marinamucic908 suggestion that you listen to his original "The Light" and, now that I'm thinking about it, since it's coming up to Christmas, his original, "The Joy of Christmas".......ok, ok, I lied, I AM going to suggest! Also, "O Helga Natt" (Swedish version of "O Holy Night") with a surprise epic ending! Have fun with this! We'll be back for more! ❤
He has a pile of great covers, too. As well as some original music with a few other bands. Try Tommy on '18 and Life'. Sebastian who? Try him on 'In My Dreams' as well. And there's plenty of others. Now you need to look into some of the songs by the band that Tommy plays guitar for...
However, Tommy Johansson is not just a cover singer. He is a professional musician with an international career. A guitarist in Sabaton for eight years (left earlier this year to devote more time to his own musical projects), he has since 2008 released eight records (plus two compilation albums) with his own band Majestica (formerly ReinXeed) and has also released three albums with the Christian melodic neoclassical power metal band Golden Resurrection (where he plays guitar and keyboards).

🙂 For me Tommy is the best artist I have ever heard. He shares every friday at 12 o‘clock a new cover version on UA-cam. 🙂

Harri, this guy is very good. He has the intensity. He’s got Steinman also in there. He’s close enough without mimicking. Bravo!

Team Tommy ❤❤❤❤ Amazing ❤🇿🇦
Tommy makes this a more metal radio edit version of this song. He skips the extended opening and cuts out about half of the duet section.
Tommy just does this for fun, he is one of the guiitatisists of Sabaton.
Love our Tommy J!❤
Cheers from Sweden Tommy definetly has alot incommon with Meatloaf :).Big hug from Sweden

Sorry, I didn't like the old Meatloaf so, it just goes to figure I wouldn't like his imitation.
Not an imitation...
@@M_J_nan *_So true!_*
Tommy don't imitate he improves.
