I got my first inline this winter. I’m getting ready to make first cut here soon once weather allows. I can’t wait to make some hay bricks. I enjoy your channel and have learned a lot from you in regards to the inline baler. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos, you have the best knotter rebuild and bailer servicing videos on the entire internet, believe me i have looked. Good luck with your hay season and thanks for the info.
Excellent vid. It would be great to see the proper order to dis-assemble the knotter components and re-assembly of same. Also, a detailed step by step lubrication vid for the 1837 would really be helpful to the first time owner/operator. Thanks again MAGA
Your gonna give me hell. But those massey inclines are the cats meow...best square nailer on the market I think...wish I had one...just picked up a deere 336 with accumulate 8 and grapple for a good deal old guy with 4 horses had it always barn kept, probably about 3500 bales through it...pickup times still have most of the paint on them....I finally got about 15 acres rolled, really good stuff, mainly orchard grass I drilled last fall
Well at least when the deere lets you down you know where Togo to get a good baler lol 😂 I’m just kidding sounds like a good deal it’s hard to find a baler like that hopefully you will have good luck with it. At least someone is getting something done all we’ve been doing is watching it rain
I mean there is a lot of people that cannot fix their own knotters on the baler they just dont get how the gear levers and springs work ... you have a special talent like you said if you cant fix it you dont need to run it. I have came across many retired balers due to knotter problems
EastxTim I agree most people are to afraid to touch one because there afraid they’ll just make it worse really their not all that complicated once you learn how they work
How many bales did you run thru it before you replaced the said parts in your vid? What did the baler do to convince you these parts needed to be replaced? I have a 99 MDL 8530 Case IH that I bought used in 2004. I have baled prob around 20 to 25000 bales since I bought it. The knotter assembly is still working good, with the exception of maybe every 3000 bales the string will hang up on the bird bill on the right hand side a couple of times & I will have to manually clean it up. I'm still not sure what causes this phenomenon, but it's not enough of a pain in my ass to seek out the problem yet. Other than that my 8530 has been flawless, until last year. It started putting out short bales. Some were just half bales. It is not every bale, maybe 1 in 30 or more will come out short. I replaced the serrated arm & wheel that thinking maybe one or the other had a wore spot causing this. It didn't work. Have you or anyone you know had this problem.
How many bales did you have in it before needing to rebuild the knotter assembly? Also what size twine do you run in it? I just bought a brand new 1840 picking it up tomorrow morning.

If you replace the twine holders, I would replace the twine holder spring.
