Hi Rachel! I was wondering if you could please link the chair that you use 💕 I’ve been looking for a new one since mine is trash and my back is begging for some support 😭
I'm a first year pharmacy student and while I don't actually know you and your life, I feel like I can relate so much to what chapter of life you're in. I went from working full time to school full time and I thought there would be no way I could sit at a computer all day and learn so much material, but I'm amazed at how many hours I sit at my desk and study without even realizing it. One of the hardest parts to school this quarter has been the loneliness. Especially for me in my first year, sitting there alone wondering if anyone else was struggling how I was was not a good feeling. I'm glad you were able to find someone to "study" will and fill that void. While I knew to expect math in medical school, I was not expecting it in literally every one of my classes. We were just going through those same renal compensation equations. It's only been five weeks, but looking back on how much more I already feel I've learned and know makes me feel like all this is paying off. Event though it sucks, I hope you're finding the good in everything right now and enjoying the overall picture of what you're accomplishing! I can't wait to see what you continue to accomplish.
I've been following this vlog for the past 2 years. I recently finished my 1st semester of medical school, and I can attest her videos explain the process and the day-to-day to a T! I didn't understand a lot of it at first, but these videos have helped me so much with the transition into med school. Rachel, I don't know how you managed to juggle everything but well done! Wherever you are, I hope you're thriving! 🥰
You're sooo gonna crush that Step 1. Fear is the major culprit of doubting your knowledge. Believe in yourself and trust your knowledge, it is there. When that chip of doubt is turned off in your mind you'll see. I wish you lots of success and luck they are the residue of hard work. 💪🏼
@@Ahn-mu3db in Latin America medical school is looonger. It depends of what country are you from; in my country med school is 6 years. I heard in Peru is 8 years, other places are 7 years. The only good thing is that we get graduated from high school at 16-17 y/o so you're still younger when you finish with med school.

I love how you talk about the impact stress can have on hair loss! My friend and I have been going through it lately as well. We’re studying for our MCAT currently and bald spots are definitely starting to form 😬 so thank you for sharing that with us and letting us know that it’s normal for your body to react this way when under high amounts of stress. ❤️

We appreciate even your upset moments because it’s real and authentic. The only reason you get feedback on it is because we care and just worry if you’re to stressed because not all of us have that much pressure.
Rachel!!! I been subscribed to your channel for a pretty long time now❤🐜 You have taught me so much. I started using Anki and I got the highest score for my test. Even my professor asked me how and now my whole class is learning about Anki. I love you so much 💓 You are so inspiring!
Hello Mrudula Joshi, so you are medical student. Do you learn math? And is it hard? I know that you learn anatomy, biochemistry, physiology and pharmacology. But how about math, for medical student will it be hard if he or she is bad at mathemarics?!
Hey, Rachel! I’ve went through a lot of stress a few years ago due to school and I lost a bunch of hair. I know how hard that is, so I’m here to tell you and any other people who might be experiencing this that it is just a phase! If it bothers you, visit a dermatologist or someone else who can help you! That’s what I’ve done and now I can say that I don’t have to face hair loss anymore. Anyway, just try to keep calm and remember that all of the stress is gonna go away with time! You are amazing and you’re able to overcome whatever you are going through right now! X
I went through that hair loss thing too but trust me if u can take 15 minutes to apply aloe gel and coconut oil mix before washing your hair... u can easily get over that hairloss.
Yayyy!! Can’t wait 😊 I’m going to be sending in applications to medical school next fall. I love watching and seeing what you do and what I can expect. Thank you for all you do 🙂
The renal system was definitely my favorite section in patho 1 I'm in the last semester of undergrad and had a geeking out moment when you were speaking about the compensatory mechanisms of the kidney and the patient going into respiratory alkalosis, because while you were doing that problem I paused the video to try and figure it out myself and I got it right! Thank you for helping out a undergrad pre-med student, love your videos!
Not a doc, but went to law school. I worked weekends and holidays, as well as OT while I was in law school. This was mainly because there was a gap between my bachelor’s and law school, so I had already purchased a house, furniture, car, etc. that had payments due. It ended up averaging 30 hours per week over the three years, although I would take weeks off of work while I did externships, and likewise worked major OT on breaks. PS I’m not someone who needs a lot of downtime or tons of social contact, so work didn’t take away from my balance. I think I would have loved med school but I was afraid of getting yelled at by attendings (1990s, before the large culture shift), so I switched gears in college.
Rachel, last year in my first semester of my masters i started shedding MASS amounts of hair from stress. It was so traumatizing and i actually took a semester off for mental health. But now i realize it’s very common and completely okay. I actually saw a dermatologist and now im on laser therapy and Rogaine! It’s helping :) just know you’re not alone. Love you so much girlfriend

Hi, I’m 28 and trying to get into pre-med. I have a BA in psych already and I’m a little okay with doing premed but it’s all nerve wrecking. Especially since everything is online. I’m not used to this new way of remote learning 😫
Rachel, you are absolutely kind and sweet. Glad you started your UA-cam journey from day 1, because we are regretting that we began truly posting our podiatric medical school videos a little into our 2nd year. This will stay with you forever! My hair loss problems have been occurring since I was in high school which is irritating (wish I waited until med school to stress out LOL). Also, although we already took the boards, we STILL don't want to talk about it. We do not want to relive 2nd year, but I still can't NOT watch your videos lol Keep it up, lady!
Rachel, Do you ever feel like you’re not good enough and that your classmates are better than you? Or that you don’t belong in med school? I’m in high school and I want to go to med school but my classmates that also want to go to med school seem to be way smarter than me and have their life together. I just want to know how to cope with those thoughts.
It's hard, actually. I'm in third year and this thoughts still haunt me... The only advice I'm going to give you is, if you really want to go to med school, the key to have a good path is having everything organized in an agenda, journal, diary, etc. Oh, and find the way you feel better and comfortable studying because that's what always makes hard the first year. I use the pomodoro technique and it's awesome. After I did all of that those bad thoughts doesn't bother me that much because my grades are better (: Good luck! (Sorry if i misspell something, English is not my first language)
That will always come up. We'll always have self doubt, but you need to just focus on yourself, stay in your lame and focus on you. If you want to achieve something you definitely can! And will!
Hi Rachel! YOURE so inspirational and amazing!!! Can you do a video in the future about your medical school timeline. Like from undergrad to med school. And how that worked out for you :)))(
Dude i'm not a medical student yet ( hope i'll be next year, wish me luck 🍀) and sometimes i watch surgeries and eat at the same time ❤️love from Tunisia 💖💖
Same here , just in 2 year of med school my hairline have receded . So there are some of the tip I use - put plastic head cap while showing , know your hair type , wash your hair with lukewarm water(not hot/cold) , regularly use dry conditioner or coconut oil but don't use straightner or hair dryer as it damages hair . Most importantly it(hair loss) probably genetic so don't over stress over it but I hope these tip help to reduce and keep hair healthy .
@@nikalobjanidze5302 it very very easy , only on the level on standard 8 and you just to put value in formula , Moreover number of formula is just drop in ocean to amount of medical course . So don't worry , all the best

And will!

My med school is on the same block! :D Also, we were told its only necessary to calculate the anion gap for metabolic acidosis. Just curious :)
TRUE. I just wanna get in the habit of not forgetting that step. Lol 🙈 still learnin.
the pen you were using while solving that math problem was so inky, i forgot you were doing math.. i think we need a pen suggestion segment!
Dude my hair is McFucked and I’m only in premed. Pray for me
And do you learn math there? Is it hard?
Ok, am I weird or is there a Greys Anatomy reference here? Because if so, hell yeah.

Hey Rachel. I was thinking of a video idea is like a zoom interview of some of the other students and their paths. Like the PAs, etc. 🤷♀️ I’d like to see other careers in the field. ❤️🐜
